Birthday on the 24th. Found out he had cancer on the 26Th. Dead on the 28
One of my favorite Motorhead songs I must say I am pretty pissed at myself for not seeing him/them in concert.
Another town another place, Another girl, another face, Another truck, another race, I'm eating junk, feeling bad, Another night, I'm going mad, My woman's leaving, I feel sad, But I just love the life I lead, Another beer is what I need, Another gig my ears bleed, We Are The Road Crew
Another town I've left behind, Another drink completely blind, Another hotel I can't find, Another backstage pass for you, Another tube of super glue, Another border to get through, I'm driving like a maniac, Driving my way to hell and back, Another room a case to pack, We Are The Road Crew
Another hotel we can burn, Another screw, another turn, Another Europe map to learn, Another truck stop on the way, Another game I learn to play, Another word I learn to say, Another bloody customs post, Another f##king foreign coast, Another set of scars to boast, We Are The Road Crew
I traveled to Dallas early last year (or late the previous year) in hopes to see Lemmy and Motorhead for my first time. Lemmy took ill the night before and had to cancel. There was one more opportunity that I had to pass on but once again it was canceled but this time I believe it was the Drummer who was ill. True Rockers pushing till the very end!!!
A few years back I was writing a monthly column for a local biker magazine, "From The Handlebars"... I only got to do the last 6 months of the year before they ceased publishing. One of my self-appointed "assignments" was to ride my '77 Shovelhead with two other buddies, both on AMF era bikes as well, over the mountain from Maryville to Cherokee NC to attend the Cherokee Survivor MC rally.
Motorhead was the headliner.
Talk about an EPIC event! If I could post up a link to the article I would, but some arsehole with the mother company for the mag has deleted all that content...
They were SO LOUD. I immediately put in my earplugs once they got going... and then there was some kind of really strong "incense" floating in the air...
What a legendary band... RIP Lemmy, if that's even possible.
"Death is an inevitability, isn't it? You become more aware of that when you get to my age. I don't worry about it. I'm ready for it. When I go, I want to go doing what I do best. If I died tomorrow, I couldn't complain. It's been good."

That was cool they live steamed Lemmy's funeral. I wish I was in LA for the after party. I just enjoyed his favorite drink to give him a proper send of. Cheers Limey Kilmister R.I.P.
