I'm going Sunday morning. My wife's company, Coke, rented a whole theater for the group to see.
My kids haven't seen any of the movies yet, going to watch the original Star Wars with them tonight. Then Empire Strikes back tomorrow and Jedi on Friday. I'm excited to see this new one.
If they like it, I'll watch the first 3 episodes with them next week.

I have not been this excited for a movie since I was a kid, I think. I wish my 5 year old was a little older so he could enjoy it with me.
And Damnut, don't force your kids to watch the 3 prequels. Revenge of the Sith was ok but the rest were awful. Thank goodness Lucas was not part of this movie.

Well I 'spose I could go on down to the Hibachi Bar/Car Wash/Laundry Mat/Movie Theater in Sevierville. They gots them electric reclinin' seats in one of them new Strip Mall/parkin' lot/movie places.
I watched the FIRST ORIGINAL Star Wars movie 7 times, over a three week period back in '77. Different girl every time. Spent a weeks pay on movie tickets, food, and gas. Some of those girls lived out a ways. My "73 Chevelle Laguna" only got about 10 MPG. What a pig......the car.....and only a couple of the girls.
Ahhhhh.....good times!
If you existed in '77, where were you when the FIRST ORIGINAL Star Wars came out??

"Was Darth Vader a Democrat or a Republican?"
He kinda reminds me of Kim Jong Un, but with some actual power.
Ferris, what color is the grass or the sky outside? Checked the tire pressure on your vehicles lately? Had a good, memorable meal in a while? Anyone give you a hug today? How ya doin? Oh yeah, OBAAAAAAMMMMAAAAAAA.
Vern, I was in Hendersonville TN at the theater with everyone else, age 10. AWESOME SAUCE.

I was at the Grand Central Mall in Vienna WV The matinee movie I THINK was .75 cents or $1.25, I cant remember. But I know it was one or the other because as soon as we bought our tickets we would hit the arcade and play a game or two with our quarters.
ASTEROIDS! you is so dumb ya think its a butt disease or was that asphalt...

I will always remember my "Star Wars" summer as a nine year old after seeing Episode IV in the theater back in '77. That movie changed my world... forever.
Over the last week I finally watched all of the episodes in order, and I can honestly say it really gives one a richer, more complete view of the whole story. I found myself picking up on little things like names, places, relationships... connections I don't think I had consciously made during all the years watching/thinking of them in release-date order. I highly recommend watching The Star Wars in episode order- it's truly a refreshing experience.
We have tickets to see Episode VII Thursday night at 10PM. I expect it to be as life-changing for me as the original.

I was 4 years old and seeing the first Star Wars in the theater with my Old Man was the first memory for me...ever.
I was being the typical pain in the ass and not wanting to go with him, but he said "I promise you will like it." Boy, was that prophetic statement if there ever was one.
Funny a movie with special effects consisting of nothing but models can kick the crap out of all the CG movies then and now.
I hope I am wrong, but this movie will be disappointing for us "old guard" people. The rolling RC/D2 charaacter and the choice of leading man has me a bit sour already, but I will see it....eventually.
I saw the National Premiere of Star Wars in London in the UK in 1977. My then GF's father was a cameraman who shot a load of the FX scenes in England for the movie so we got tickets. I was 17 at the time.
@Pwnzor. Anxious to hear your opinion of the movie as you seem to be a real fan of the original movies and hate the commercial-ized newer episodes....like me and most people with a clue.
Previews. The last movie I saw there was no less than 20 full minutes of previews. Seriously? I walked to the lobby about 15 minutes into the endless previews and talked to the manager. She acted like it was standard procedure for 20 minutes of previews and I was a nut for questioning the practice.
So the options are to get there 20 minutes late and hope to get a decent seat and annoy people as you step on their feet in the dark trying to get to your seat OR waste 20 minutes of you life watching previews. Gotta love it.
I disliked cartoony characters that have no value to the script. Jawas, Ewoks, Jar-Jar, etc. All those characters could have had a more Sci-fi Noir type of aspect to them.
I dislike the rewrites. Han murdered Gredo. I liked Qui-Gon, he didn't need to get killed off so quickly. Mace Windu, worst Jedi character ever.
These facts notwithstanding, I love all 6 movies to date, and will watch any of them with great prejudice over almost anything else you can put on a screen.
