I posted it on the 0 thread but it works here too. The more you know... Will 0 use H's crimes to extend his term? The idea is so simple it's horrifying . In an October surprise the 0's Justice Department charges Hilary with the crimes she is known to have committed and she is declared ineligible to run. 0 then declares that because there is no Democrat candidate, the election will have to be suspended until the Democrats can select a new candidate. He also declares he will have to remain in office until this lengthy process is completed. He may also decide that if H is to go on trial that the election cannot take place until the trial is over. After all if, after a very lengthy trial, she is found innocent wouldn't she be again eligible to run? If there are too many protests 0 could declare martial law and remain in office indefinitely. Horrifying indeed. I'm almost sorry I thought of it. G | ||

There would be signs ahead of time. For example. DHS and the military would have a multi year training program teaching that the greatest threat to America is veterans & patriots. Christians, those who support limited government, etc. would be targeted as potential terrorists. There would have to be a bill passed so the President could order citizens arrested and held without lawyers, trial, or notification of next of kin. The Patriot Act would have to be made open ended with no restrictions on power. The NSA would have to read all e-mails and tap all communication. Uh. Ok. That's all done. Let me be clear. Belief that it can't happen is what makes it possible. I do find the scenario unlikely. If Barack decided to crush Hillary, Bernie would be a fine choice to continue Barack's fundamental transformation. A better bad novel scenario would be a "terrorist" bomb during the (say) Trump acceptance speech. Credit given to the hard conservative "Rush Brigade". Perfect excuse for martial law and full Gestapo assault on the opposition. I really don't think that would happen. But I have noticed the preliminary actions to make it work. | ||

It's not a stupid question. I just thought that scenario was low probability. Think about timing and you can come up with better "Reichstag fire" ones. The answer to Sifo's is "rivers of blood". Not a hard number, I admit. Worth remembering. The cannon fodder of the revolution are college youth. Once trained in the way of disruption, after the older, evil ones take over, the college kids are usually put up against the wall. I mean, once you've won, you don't want trained anti establishment types around. After all, now you are the establishment. That mob rules mentality only works on nice people. Totally uncool on my part, and I'm sorry. Re: the "copy and paste" criticism, well, I've heard that one before (although I don't think from you), and I don't understand why this seems to bother some. I've offered up MY opinion plenty of times on political threads, words directly from MY mouth. And I often back up these words with words from OTHER folks, and typically provide links to the source when I do. Another another thread another poster made the comment, in part, to the events in Paris on Friday night:

It's obvious this poster is behind the curve, so to speak, on what's happening in Europe (and, to a lesser degree but ramping up fast, here in America). And so I copied and pasted-up some relevant material for him, including multiple source links and links for even further review. This accomplishes at least several things: It can help educate the poster (and anyone else wanting to learn) on a particular subject without even having to leave BadWeB. The source links allow someone wanting to learn even more to follow the link for further review (and/or to vet the source/s). I looked just now and counted nearly a dozen source links I provided; this helps anyone who wants to study the subject further, and also, IMO, adds credibility to what I'm reporting, in that I'm quoting multiple sources (and providing a link to each particular source). This "tactic," if one can call it that, is used in online media all the time; oftentimes, if one follows a link to a particular headline that catches their attention, the subsequent article, or at least parts of it, will have originated somewhere else, and this source may reference it via quotes in THEIR article, and typically, but not always, reference their source. Again, this does several things: 1. It adds credibility to the reporting. 2. It allows the reader to vet the source. 3. It allows for further study and review. Like I said above, I've been criticized before for copying and pasting stuff here on BWB, and I don't understand why some seem to have a problem with it. I read some of this "the terrorists aren't bad, they are just acting out their frustration because of lack of jobs and health care" . . I, for one, insist on seeing the source of the information and am a big fan . . . since I enjoy facts over fancy, of the way FB provides the information and enables me to become better versed as I craft my own opinion.
