Had a wee stroke of luck yesterday, work called and put back the next trip from Saturday to Sunday. Well the weather cooperated and I managed a few hours out this morning.

Sun came out today and I got in 104 miles. Then being at 15,000 miles, changed the oils in both holes. Would have been better with mittens than the gloves but the heated grips made it tolerable. I felt so alive. Northern Illinois. Only hit a little ice. |

Should I mention it was 67 when I woke this morning? Although, Florida can be downright miserable a few months during the summer so it all balances out in the end. It has also rained at least some every day for the past 2 weeks. Pool level has gone up 3 in. Usually this is the dry season. |

We had our 12th annual Echo Toy Run saturday (yesterday). 89 motorcycles and about half that many cars and trucks made the ride. I got to ride up front, to the right of Al, who makes this happen every year. That was quite an honor! We collected a MOUNTAIN of toys for local kids. I know that doesn't sound like a lot of bikes by big-city standards but for our rural area, it was most impressive. Especially considering the time of year. That seemingly endless river of headlights in my mirror, riding for the good of children never fails to put a smile on my face. |

+1! I'm planning on a decent, short-ish ride on the Sprint today, once the temp gets into the 50's, finish with a full tank of good gas and some Sta-Bil. Beautiful day! |

I was hoping for 50 today, and then go out for a ride on the Harley, but not going to happen. |

I try to ride every day until the snow hits. I did miss two days last week due to the heavy rain which hit central Pennsyltucky. This morning I took the Sprint down to Havre de Grace and let the salt air do it's thing on my sinuses. Nothing feels better than a hot shower after a cold motorcycle ride! |

I took my scooter out for shopping runs this morning, and the ninzuki out to stretch it's legs some this afternoon. It got up to around 75 degrees or so. Partly cloudy with the occasional "is that rain?" spots for a few seconds at a time. Last weekend, I installed a power port on the scooter for my heated vest and gloves when it decides to turn "cold" here. |

These were taken the weekend of the 12th-13th here in Southwest Virginia. Weather-wise we've not yet had a "salt the roads" event yet this season, which is unusual up here in the mountains. Taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway... ...near the junction of the BRP and Maple Swamp Road... ...while stopped to document another milestone: This was a little later in the day, in downtown Mount Airy, North Carolina:

Sunday the 13th was pretty nice, as well, although started out foggy: The sun came out in pretty short order, though: Looking down from Air Bellows Gap: Taken in Blowing Rock, North Carolina:

Awesome pics! It's been years since I've visited, but I LOVE Blowing Rock and Lake Lure, that whole area. The highway from there running north to Black Mountain is awesome- when I was there they had just laid down some fresh pavement. I was on my '82 R65 at the time, and that thing handled beautifully... Gonna have to roll that way when Spring hits. Thanks for sharing- post more if ya can! |
