I am disappointed in the Victory. When I heard they were coming out with a more sporting model, I was hoping it would be at LEAST a standard, not just another "Muscle Cruiser."
Oh well. That WAS just a concept vehicle, but I suspect the actual production bike won't be much different. Here's to hoping EBR can get going again!
The Victory "Ignition" is a concept bike based on the production version of the Project 156 engine, which itself appears to be a slightly tweaked version of the Indian Scout engine. Victory is supposed to unveil another concept bike using the same engine called the "Combustion" next month in NYC. If you go to the Victory website to look at these bikes, the page has the text "Project 156 > Ignition > Combustion" as if these bikes are a "progression" towards a final production motorcycle.
Maybe the Combustion will be a lot more sporty? The two concept bikes could be a way for Victory to judge public opinion before they decide which way to go with the actual production bike.
I think Motus is the ONLY American motorcycle manufacturer looking beyond the V-Twin engine right now (not including Boss Hoss). Sad. I can remember (when I first got started in the early 80s) when Japanese bikes were called "UJMs" because of the belief that they all came with inline, four-cylinder air-cooled, overhead cam engines. That wasn't even true back then but it overlooked the fact that (at the time) there was only ONE American motorcycle manufacturer and all they used were air-cooled, push-rod V-Twins.
Now in 2015, the only difference in the scene is that there are several American motorcycle manufacturers, but they still all (excepting Motus, of course) produce V-Twin motorcycles (although some of them are shockingly water cooled now).
They're going flat tracking with a BELT DRIVE??? Also, that wheelbase looks far too long for flat tracking. Be interesting to see what happens, though...
Nice door mat lower fairing...lmao. Everyone's gong nuts trying to find lower fairings for our 1125's and here they are right outside our from door...literally!
