In less than a year, I lost my Dad's Sportster due to theft. I lost my bestfriend's Triumph to theft. I'm down to a 2012 DR650, with a high compression piston, reground, custom carb, suspension work, etc. but I don't feel the same passion with any of them that I did with the Buell. I'm considering dealing with the DR650 being sold and buying a tuber, or another XB. Has anyone else been in a similar position? I couldn't walk away from my XBS without a double take. She was blue with amber wheels. I painted her blood red with a 24k Gold skull. Other than the warmed over Sportster my dad left me (Buell everthing(!)) right after he padded, I haven't felt particularly interested in anything other than used XB. I'm out of debt and would like to stay that way... but another XB might be the ticket to salvage my love of motorcycles. Has anyone else been in a similar spot? |

Indeed. I go through similar phases once in a while, I can't blame it on one particular thing. Sometimes it is friends getting hurt, sometimes it is lack of time, sometimes it is just something. Many times it isn't even anything. It is possible a different motorcycle will help, sometimes you need just a change, but it is very possible that won't make a difference either. Times change, people change, and maybe it is time for something else. Winter is coming, how about a snowmobile? |

I activated one of my jump clones last night and lost over 5 billion ISK worth of hardwires and implants. That's about 3.5 months of constant work, down the drain in the time it takes to click a mouse button. Needless to say, I logged out and I'm not planning on logging back in any time soon. Pisses me off just thinking about it. |

James, there is nothing like a Buell. I've left them and came back. My passion just isn't there with other bikes. I think I'd like to have a drz400 for putting around on but need and XB for riding. When the bike is down I'm down. You know what needs to be done. |

When HD dropped the turd in the punch bowl a few years back I about lost all love of Motorcycles. Got rid of all my Buell bikes and most of my swag. I was a little pissed. You know the deal with the DR. Got one and Farkled the hell out of it. But the DR wasn't what the Doctor ordered. Found a S3 and I'm back in love again... |

Nothing; absolutely nothing, feels as good as a Buell. Well; except maybe an EBR. That 1190 SX I demo rode sure felt pretty sweet to me. |

My S1 is the most entertaining bike I've ever rode. Nothing will ever replace that. That said, my DR650SM is soft and wallowy but is very forgiving and undemanding to ride and is every bit the hooligan, if not more. I don't see myself getting rid of either anytime soon. I like simple, fun, tough bikes. Sorry to hear of your misfortunes. |

I'm feelin' ya, buddy. FWIW, Hugh posted up that Rider's Hill in Dalhonega GA is blowing out their EBR inventory at right under $10K, and not too long ago someone had a Buell tuber for sale here local to Knoxville TN. Good luck! |

This is what I consider silly season. Ever since Buell went tango uniform, at this time of the year. I start thinking about replacing the '06 Ulysses with... something else. So far, no bike I would want, can I afford. What I can afford, is in most ways greatly inferior to the Ulysses. Be it, cost per mile, overall quality, power, suspension, handling, fuel economy and/or Ulysses uniqueness. These days rarely do I see a Ulysses brother on the road or the parking lot... It will be 10 years in May, that I have owned the Ulysses, longest I've ever owned one particular bike. |

I'm with you Teeps! Had my 06 Uly for over 8 years as I bought it in 07. I have my Road Glide, when it runs, but the Uly has been really dependable once I got the bugs out. I was looking forward to the AX and seeing what it was but other than that I have no desire to get rid of it. |

What Teeps and Tootal said Ten years in June. No desire to sell it. I'm even going through a not desiring to ride period, now mostly because late this summer I broke a couple of knuckles on my fingers that are not happy with cold or vibrations. Don't care about that, not selling a truly good Uly for little, to find that I cannot replace it later. tango uniform for some reason that is making me laugh right now..... |

Glitch, A friend went in for a quad bypass; he came out a quadriplegic. He will never ride again... |

T U. Yep, that is where I went with it! Dave, sure know where you are coming from. Not a completely different thing than having your body tell you not to ride, but I don't have the legal block and can get back when I feel right. Hope that someday you can to. |

Glitch... what about a Fiddy? Seems a good ole' traditional "Fiddy Race" should be within the realm of possibilities... Not the same AT ALL as riding a Buell through the N. GA mountains... dammit! Maybe someday they'll get the virtual reality gear built right that will "virtually" put you back in the saddle. I hear they're getting REAL good at that stuff. Maybe Frogs could comment on that. |

I think I just sold the side car. He's coming from Mississippi to get it! Squids, interested in any Triumph parts that weren't stripped? The engine is low mileage and I still have the pipe! I've kicked around an ATV and/or snowmobile, but I don't have the land to use either. They would be fancy garage jewelry. I still keep looking at Urals. They're like Buells in that I haven't been able to keep my eyes off them since I first saw one... |

Hey James- sure! PM/Email me some pics of the pipe, if it aint rashed out, I may grab that from you... go ahead and make a final list of remnants from your bike, body parts and all, and I'll see what I can use. I agree about the Urals. The best thing about them is that they're patterned after WWII Beemers; the worst thing is they may have East German/Soviet QC issues. I've heard the most current importer has addressed the QC, but YMMV. I want one anyway. Couldn't be worse than my old '77 Shovel at any rate. |
