Has anyone ever done this? I am in FL, the other party is in CA. How would one go about swapping titles? Drafting contracts? Thanks in advance! |

He is going to ship his bike first. Then the shipper will load my bike and return to him. 900 dollar round trip for the shipper. |

When I bought my XT, I did a fly and ride. Granted it was only Dallas Texas area to Clearwater Florida but it was a great experience. Where in Florida and where in California are the endpoints of the trip? The paperwork wasn't a big deal. Take the California title into the title agency/tax collector and some extra money. It's not a big deal. Took me less than a half an hour to get the paperwork done. (Message edited by Zane on November 14, 2015) |

If this is for the SX, I don't believe he'll be able to get a title for it since it doesn't have enough miles. |

How many miles does he need? |

A fly and ride would be fun, if I could take the time off. I have a daughter due in January, and I'm desperately trying to move before then. So in between having a child and moving, taking any time off is going to be impossible. |

In California, used vehicles from out of state need 7500 miles on the clock. |

There are "ways" (few) around the minimum mileage requirement. I suggest the CA recipient go here: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/pubs/broc hures/howto/htvr9 and do their home work. My experience: In '04 I successfully registered a new 49 state bike in CA with less than 7500 miles by playing dumb at the DMV. I went in to DMV, showed the DMV agent the papers I had, then asked what do I need. After 2 inspections and a few weeks and payment of required fees and taxes; I had my plate and papers. |
