I'm only about 2:00 in but looking behind Gale, that's a 3.0 VM engine on the stand. Same engine that's in my Grand Cherokee, and also in the Ram 1500. They bought rights to build/modify those for the US military. Also known as the 630T:

Now back to our previously scheduled program... : )

Just WOW.

Towed for a gig this weekend. Level 1. Highway speeds are no problem (meaning 75-80 with the trailer in tow). Grades are no problem. Fuel pressures are HIGHER than before the tuner because of the part throttle boost response increase. I don't have to tip into the throttle anywhere near as much, to get the big heavy bastard down the road. EGTs are a couple hundred lower, and engine temps are probably 10 degrees cooler (could be tuner, could be November air).

Prior to the tow, my EVIC had gone up to 20.2.

After the tow (without resetting the overhead), it only dropped to 17.4 avg. That's where it used to read when I was EMPTY.

Such a night and day difference, I'm considering the Banks tuner for my Jeep...not a lot out there for the Eco just yet, but since Banks is building them for the military I'm guessing they have it pretty well figured out...

Very informative, and interesting, thread.

My next build is going to be a '72 Suburban with a 1st gen 6BTA w/Banks kit.

I've done numerous LSx swaps, my daily driver is a C10 with a LS6, but this Cummins swap has me a bit excited...if the wife would just hand over more funding when I need it.
