Just got back home from purchasing some 2nd hand stuff.

Got an intact Windjammer fairing, an intact Wixom fairing, two unmolested BMW Krauser hard bags, a Harmann-Kardon turntable, a Clymer BMW manual, and an old metal detector. Oh yeah, a Homer Simpson doll.

Paid $220.

I need to get a backpack that looks like a furry animal hanging on for dear life.

LOL- sounds like a custom job! We have a woman who makes doll's clothes and stuff here local, apparently there's a BIG market for all that... I for one can see it!

My wife makes dolls by hand.

She's always looking for nice clothing for them to include with the package deal... shoot me that woman's contact info or website and I'll show it to Gretchen.

I learned to sew. Used to make teddy bears for kids. The kind with joints on the arms and legs. I should start watching the GoodWill for donor animals and bags. My problem is I'm trying to thin my holdings for retirement.

Hugh, I've just sent myself a couple of pics of the Beemer with the bags and the Wixom on the bike... I've never been able to get my pics posted here, I'm too stoopid.
Let me see if I can shoot them to you and maybe you could work with them...

Got a new belt ordered for the turntable for $6.25 shipped, yeehaa! Talked to a hi-fi repair dude, he said that was a pretty good score for that component. Already talked with Vern about getting that Wixom painted and mounted- I'm hoping to see about getting it set up for easy clip-on/clip-off instead of permanent mount... but hey, I might just dig it more overall with that thing on the front! Only problem with painting the fairing is that the tank on the bike is original paint and painted pinstripe, with good patina... having that fairing painted brand-new BMW black would immediately show contrast, I would think. Don't guess there's much of any way around it, but Vern said maybe/kinda. After following Crusty's road journal so far, all of a sudden my R75/7 is THAT close to being set-up to be a long-haul rig!

Matthew- the lady's name is Sue, and she JUST moved her biz to a new location with six times the space, and MUCH better frontage. Nice lady, I'm sure your wife can build a good business contact there- her biz is "Adrienne's Dollhouse Boutique", 865-983-3377. Tell her the dude with the epileptic Chihuahua told youn's about her...

I've got a small problem with her, but I understand... the whole reason I know her is that I'd had an idea one day, that maybe she could create a design idea that I came up with- since my little dog is prone to seizures, and the dogs sleep with us on the bed, we're paranoid about him (Rocky) going into a seizure and falling off the bed onto the hardwood floor. It has happened, and putting throw rugs around the bed isn't a real good fix. My idea was to have her seamstress girl work up a skullcap of sorts to put on the dog's head at night, so if he fell, his head would be protected. Sue took measurements of Rocky's head, even taking note of where to put some little ear-holes, with the whole thing being secured with elastic and Velcro. My problem with her is simply she and her workers haven't completed anything, and it's been weeks... I DO realize that their main concern is dealing with the very recent move, and their regular biz. Still, to me, if she can successfully design this and market it to folks like me who have a seizure-prone doggie (more common than you might think), that would be another moneymaker.

So Matthew- maybe your honey could take this ball and run with it! Think about it and let me know. Here lately the good news is that we seem to have gotten Rocky's medicine dialed in to where he rarely has a seizure... but with this ailment, it's not "if", but "when" he'll have another. If we had the peace of mind to be able to go to bed and know his noggin would be protected, that would be priceless.

So, back to the OP subject- maybe there is something to serendipity... better yet, the rare times we deserve and see Grace.

Love those old airheads. But it needs to be naked, not have a barn door strapped to the front of it.

(IMHO : ) )

Reep, I'm with ya, but it certainly can go either way. Put in a Google or Bing search for "Wixom fairing"; take a look at the images, and prepare to get a chub. ; )

OTOH, I've certainly seen a LOT of cool Airhead café type builds... lots that were plenty sexy. I'm pretty sure that route takes a LOT of $$$, or time, sweat, and expertise on one's own. What I'm wanting to do with that fairing is to make it easy to attach/detach, just as easy as the bags. The holy grail would be figuring a way to strip the brackets off that easily, and leave just the bike, work up the best of the aesthetics from there.

FWIW, my good buddy Francois, who owns and runs Dual Sport Touring, *might* be selling his early serial #, first year BMW Gelande-Strasse.
Properly farkled, with all the RIGHT old and new pieces. He's not been riding it, and he's of the mind that good or great bikes should be ridden and appreciated...

The speedo is correct: Less than 13,500 miles.

Oh, and BTW, looking at me from the deck, is my little buddy Rocky. SUCH an awesome dog.

My Basenji, D'Ogee, is much more photogenic- I call him the George Clooney of Basenji's. He's great in his own ways too, but Rocky looks after all of us, the house and property- couldn't have picked a better guard dog. They work as a team- Rocky is the "sentinel", D'Ogee the "enforcer"... he kinda looks like a half sized Doberman, every bit as fast, and silent, with a stare deep into your soul. Basenjis don't bark. ; )

Brad -- any mention of a Basenji is worthless without a picture!

Part cat, part coyote -- not a breed for everyone, but I sure loved mine. I'll be adopting a couple of adult Basenjis this autumn, after a 4 year hiatus. : )

I'll see if Hugh can help me again... stand by!

In the meantime, these folks were who got me my B:

https://basenjirescue.org/

I recently got an email that they'd gone to a puppy mill absolute auction, and rescued 46 puppies! YIKES!!! I can imagine, can you!?!?

My guy's one of the rarest of the rare colorations, a "trindle"- essentially a tri-color, brindle instead of brown. He's have made a great show dog in different circumstances, sure do wish he still had his cojones sometimes- after a while I noticed he is missing just a couple of millimeters off of one canine tooth. Story goes that he was surrendered because the alpha female Basenji hated him- I can't understand that, he's got such a sweet personality.

Awesome, Hugh!

D'ogee always wants his own seat outside- there are a couple of chairs that are "his"... funny, but the first Basenji I had always wanted his own chair too.
They are a VERY quirky breed, no doubt!

The 2nd pic is Rocky waiting for Mike the Mailman to walk up to the door... once Mike starts to put mail in the box, Rocky goes into full attack mode, and basically levitates...
that's the highlight of each dog's day, and a $$$ worthy Youtube vid if I could ever catch him JUST right at that time.

I guess that's what a one-eyed Jack Ha-Ha is supposed to do! ; )
