I'm bored with what I have on my iPod and was wondering what you're listening to. I hit 140 listening the Megadeath... I listen to rap, rock, metal, country, but I'd like to expand my horizons. And, hopefully reducing my possibility of getting a speeding ticket! What's out there? How can I expand my horizons? |

I found a converter that actually works, ad-free and spam-free. It's called MediaHuman, and converts youtube to MP3. Find a song you like on youtube...convert it and drop it into your library. I listen to old school hip-hop; rock; classic rock; metal; 80s; 90s alternative; grunge; just about everything but country. However, I've started working with country bands and need to add a country playlist for set breaks so I'm using the converter for that...and I'm adding some fun mashup songs, too. One I grabbed the other night that sticks out is the Beastie Boys "Intergalactic" mashed up with Herbie Hancock's "Rockit". I'm also using it as a way to refresh my long lost old-school stuff like PE, NWA, old Dire Straits, and some obscure European bands (check out "Devil went down to Georgia" by an Irish 90s alternative band called The Levellers). |

I used to have a subscription to CMJ magazine. (College Music Journal) came with a cd filled with about 20 songs from different up and coming, existing and never-heard-from-again artists. (90 bucks a year)Not sure if they still distribute the mag, but here is a weekly mixtape (I think this is how they do it now) http://www.cmj.com/mixtape/ |

I signed up for iTunes 9.95/month (14.95 for family plan up to 5 users) unlimited music program. For less than an album per month you can listen to their entire library or stream it as iTunes radio. |

Rwven, is that streaming only, or downloading at $9.95/month? I already have Pandora and love it. |

I listen to a lot of different music, mostly rock and alternative, but I use the free Spotify the most because it is a stand alone computer application and the media buttons on my keyboard work (easy to pause/play when working). I've found some really good playlist made by others which are updated regularly. I also like the "similar artists" list they provide which helps me find other music. I've considered canceling my sirius subscription but I do use that when driving/riding. If they had a computer app I probably wouldn't need anything else. Like Pandora to some degree but their view on alternative is slightly different than mine. I created some channels but even after investing time into liking/disliking they still did not work well. Classic rock seemed to work better but not alternative. I had 350 GB of mp3s going back to the mid 90s but after losing 2 different devices and all my data, I resorted to streaming. I still buy some music from time to time but mostly I stream. |

Easy Peasy... www.wdvx.com "East Tennessee's Own"... they're a listener-supported station, they play a huge range of great music. They do have a slight bias towards bluegrass and REAL country (not the 'bro flavor drivel out of Nashville nowadays, yeesh!), but mainly just real good Americana, some true classic rock that "classic" stations overlook, and so on. They do a live show every day at noon... fun stuff! Highly recommended. I've gotten to know many of the folks who operate it over the years... True story: They started in a single-axle camping trailer at a campground in Norris, TN... now they have a worldwide following, and are recognized as one of the best Americana stations in the nation. |

Just remembered two others: WNCW out of Western NC, and WFMU- both put out the widest range of good music. My WDVX is my alltime fave however. I once got a catalog of junk to buy from WFMU... need to get a new one. It's mindblowing the things they have to sell, all which support the station... Just went to their site- not nearly as much stuff as there once was, but I just saw a T-shirt I NEED... back in the day, I ordered a "Shemp Meditation Tape"... yes, it is what it sounds like. Yes, I still have it. |

Slacker radio and Pandora are actually pretty good if you want to check out new music. Type in a couple bands you like and they pick things that are similar to play. |

Thumper74, Both! I can stream or download. Just like Pandora any downloaded music disappears if you let your subscription lapse. Any music I download to a device is automatically available on another device through iCloud. So if I download an album into my iPhone it automatically shows up on my PC...in the correct Playlist if I downloaded it into a Playlist. It's available as a 3 month free trial...give it a test drive. (Message edited by rwven on September 08, 2015) |

Yeah, but Jim you are a Patriots fan.....what do you know about good taste in music? See ya Thursday night! My MP3 holds enough music tracks that I can ride two days not hearing the same song twice. I have a crap load of music CD's between me and my wife and four adult children that I have down loaded to my computer. Then I up load to the Phillips MP3 in a few different albums for discretion based on the day and where I am riding. |

Hahahaaa- my "bad decision", aiss haulin' song of choice is Rush's "Red Barchetta"... That thing is dead-nuts stable, on a rail, at high speeds, no? I just ordered a new Battlax T30 Evo rear for mine... that bike will be my main commuter to my new job, about 45-50 miles round-trip, about 2/3 on Pellissippi Parkway/"Autobahn"... yeehaaa! You did mention yours was green like mine, right? Someday it'd be fun to see them side-by-side. |

WHAAATTTT?!??! WTF over? You gotta tell the story on that... sheesh, I hate to hear that! You JUST got the dang thing a little while ago. Take inventory of what's still decent, and I'll call dibs on what I can. Firstly, I'd like to hear if the exhaust can (not sure if it was a full system) is still good... just let me know when you can. I am just now starting my new job, extra funds will be tight for a bit, but it won't take too long before I'm making good money... give me some time, and I'll pick up what I can, whatever to help us both out. Dang! |

I came home from work Friday night and it was gone. I called the non-emergency line for the police department and the dispatcher said that they have it because it was towed. I asked why it was towed from my house because it was on private property, the bike had a caliper lock on it and tags/insurance was current. The dispatcher said it was involved in an accident. I asked how it was involved in an accident in my driveway. Turns out, a 15 year old dumped it riding wheelies in front of some chicks. He was life flighted to the hospital and released yesterday. I can't even get it from impound yet, while it's racking up impound fees because it's evidence. But wait, there's more! The bike hit a car, he said I lent him the bike (with the ignition destroyed...). So the officers that took the report Friday night gave ME a hard time because the story was conflicting the kid and his POS mom. They had my registration and insurance since it was in the trunk. The officer that is doing the investigation was much more understanding. He said that the kid has a BUNCH of priors. The black cop, called the black kid a piece of shit. Gotta love that. There's more! My insurance was contacted by the person who's vehicle was damaged since they gave them my information... So... stressful weekend. Add me on facebook. I'll pm you my info. |

Oh, and he was riding a 4 wheeler down the street today while I was detailing my Malibu. He lives a block away and is friend's with the neighbor's kid. I called for him and he took off. I'd like to talk to his dad, since he's a big biker guy, but I doubt it do much good. I'll be suing the shit out of them in civil court. |

That really, really sucks. With that many priors, doubt talking to his dad is going to do much good. He has to know by now. Seems suing will be the only option. Sorry you have to go through all that hassle. A friend of mine keeps telling me to install high def cameras around my property. He said not to bother with the cheaper b/c you need a clear image of their face for court. I was thinking recently about getting some disc locks but I think I am going to chain them to the camper in the garage now and will soon be getting a automated garage door device (so I don't forget to close it). |

I recently installed a garage door opener on my workshop, just a retail level unit from Lowe's. Built-in, it has a programmable time delay - shut the door in (10 min / 30 min / 1 hr / 2 hr). I have it disabled at the moment but may just go ahead and turn it on. |

My garage is attached. I'm chaining the garage door shut now. I ran 3" deck screws for the dead bolt, so they go through the door case and frame. The sliding door is pinned, the ground floor windows are pinned. The CCW has been upgraded from .32 ACP to .45 ACP, for dog walks. |

Robert, I've got a large, free roaming tortoise I adopted, so my girlfriend and I were considering high definition security cameras and actually went to go look some a couple weekends ago. |

They life-flighted the turd and two days later he was dicking aroung on someone's 4 wheeler? WTF? He probably thought the helicopter ride was kewl, just reinforced his ai$$hat behavior. THAT's gonna cost his dad... I've often thought about getting that insurance that covers a Lifeflight trip, in case I go down on the bike or whatever. James, just looked you up on Facepalm and sent you a FRQ. Just keep me posted when all that crap settles down, and you get the bike outta impound and can assess what's what. Good luck with that $hit sandwich, man, keep it in a ziplock to feed to that kid and his dad! |

Allright, back OT: I just ordered Chris Stapleton's "Traveller"... heard a lot of great tracks from it on WDVX, got his album of grunge/countryrock, "The Jompson Brothers" already... he was once the lead singer for the Steeldrivers, an awesome bluegrass outfit... everything he does kicks ass. |
