Yes, that's right... You can still pay 19k for one of these bikes at Riders Hill in Dahlonega, Georgia.

SMH...

On one hand, nobody in their right mind would pay that right now. OTOH, that's a good thing for the dealership and seems to indicate they're sticking with EBR for the long haul.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of factory incentives are offered once "new" EBR opens up shop again.

I looked on cycletrader last night. It looks like the ones left there are higher than the firesale prices. Lots at $14,995 and up.

I was speaking to a sales guy at a dealer, he said that when the sub-$10k bikes were sold that they were going to start selling theirs for cost, they understandably were not willing to take a loss.

The price was crazy even while EBR was still in business.

I just can't stomach those price tags for a sport bike.

Price was fine in my opinion (I have paid more for a Ulysses), I just wasn't in the market for another sportbike, I was holding out for sport touring or adventure model. If my 1125CR had better resale value and would have made a decent down payment I would have bought the SX sooner.

I was in a shop on Tuesday. They sold me pretty hard on used Panigale R: $27,995. Alternatively, the BMW S1000RR: $17,995. Doesn't seem so bad to me.

I'd pay more for a Ulysses also because it's worth it! Best dam motorcycle ever made!

What? You paid more than $19,000 for a XB12X?
Mine was $12000 with bags installed.

Yep, fully loaded from the dealer, included virtually everything in the accessory catalog, service plan, and extended warranty. I'd have to look at the old invoices but it was around $20k after everything was said and done.

"My S-3 was $12,500 in '97..."

$12,500.00 in 1997 had the same buying power as $18,506.62 in 2015.
Annual inflation over this period was 2.20%.

(http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.h tm)

Apparently both good values.

It depends. After 2 engine rebuilds @ ~$2000 each...
$17K!

Sigh. It was like owning a Jaguar: Beautiful to look at, fun to ride, $ to maintain, $$$$ to fix, and $$$$$ to sell!
I still miss it at times.

I personally was not surprised with the original price, although I thought it would be more attractive if just under 18k (for unknown reasons 17,899 is more appealing than 18,000). The first price reduction really got me excited. 15-17k seemed to be a great price for a super bike, especially one made in America.

I see people spending 20-30k on cruisers all the time and then a few k more on accessories.
Everything is more expensive today than it used to be.
2009 Ford Explorer was 27-35k.
2015 Ford Explorer is 34-50+k.

Sport bike riders I believe on the average are younger and they are usually going to be looking for the best deal or the biggest bike they can afford.
Jap bikes are in the 13-16k range.
Aprilia 17-22k.
MV Agusta 20-40k
Ducati 19+k
BMW 18k

Small production companies will always struggle against the big guys. Look at Tesla. People said there was no way people would pay that much for an electric car yet I see more and more every month and the prices are coming down or at least less costly models, just as he said they would.

Some the dealers probably paid cash for the bikes so they just soon let them sit on the floor than take a loss, which is understandable. The fire sale was probably started by a few that were scared if they didn't dump them now they might not be able to, which is also understandable.

Personally I was a bit shocked at how comfortable the RX was when it came out. Erik said I would be surprised because he knew. The SX was even more comfortable and I think if there was a larger shield and hard luggage option a few more might have sold since the AX was delayed.

I am excited to see what comes next and hope by that time I just might afford it, but even then I would likely pick up another used bike.
For what our a/c cost, I could have bought one of the fire sale bikes but a/c is not optional in FL.

My one test ride on an SX had me re-thinking my initial thought to wait on the AX. I'm very interested to see what happens with prices after EBR stands back up.
