Tonight is the first time I've seen that screen; from the closure until this morning the site wouldn't come up at all. https://www.erikbuelkracing.com would mostly work, but http://www.ebr.com was dead.
The server at www.erikbuelkracing.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
If you use https at the beginning instead of http and then ignore the certificate errors, you will get the website that is just one of backgrounds but no content. I believe this has been this way for a while.
The "It works!" message has absolutely been up for me since the day they shut down. Been hitting "CTRL+F5" twice a day ever since to see if it ever comes back. My desktop has been online for about 200 days.
I'll take Ponti1's word that the "It Works" message has popped up for him at www.ebr.com all along since the closure. On the 2 or 3 computers I've tried occasionally, nothing would pop up for at least 1 minute so I'd give up and move on to something else. As of last night, the "It Works!" screen pops up immediately on my computer and my smart phone. It seems something is different, but maybe not.

I ordered some race parts last night. The PayPal payment went through. I did not get a confirmation email from EBR. If I don't get a response tomorrow, I will contact PayPal about returning my payment. If the store is not actually open, that will piss me off big time. It kind of makes one wonder the thought process there.
I hate be that guy but as I stated before despite what the Moto Journos have said, the reports of being able to be up and running within a few weeks are greatly exaggerated. I would not expect any tangible progress before the new year, 6 months to launch a new business is not unheard of. If Erik and Bruce are listening I would caution them not to repeat the mistake of failing to over communicate with dealers and current owners. Their goodwill is the key to your relaunch, loose them due to the frustration that develops from a coms blackout and the third time will effectively be the last.
^ You would hope EBR could re-start their race parts business fairly quickly. It seems like the fact that the parts are labeled "race only" would exempt these parts from most, if not all, of the red tape EBR apparently has to go through to re-start street motorcycle sales and production.
That is why I ordered the race parts. I assumed they would get that part of the business running quickly especially considering the low manpower need. Oh well!
"If Erik and Bruce are listening I would caution them not to repeat the mistake of failing to over communicate with dealers and current owners."
I agree with this 100% but sadly I must report that they have not done a good job of doing that. To date I have only spoke with Bruce once right after the sale and have not had any contact with anybody from EBR since by phone or e-mail.
Every day that goes by without your dealers knowing what is going on just makes it more difficult for them to support the brand when you will need them.
I hope the new EBR is reading this and understand how serious this is if they want to succeed.

I have always been amazed by the lack of communication in general from EBR. Constant communication is an important component of a good marketing plan. Developing interest in new models, updates, issues, racing will keep faithful followers in the loop and may spark the interest in folks new to the brand. There cannot be enough communication.
I was attracted to Buell originally because it felt like a family. EBR not as much. The new EBR needs to start that process again. Put the fun back into it. If they want race involvement, start out at the club level. Get racers excited about the brand. Failure to win or do well at the upper levels of the sport will do more damage than not participating.

Unfortunately I am not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about the new EBR. And I was not hurt anywhere near as bad by the shutdown as many of the other dealers I have spoken with.
I really want Bruce and the new EBR to succeed and I will do everything I can to help them but if they do not communicate with their dealers that is impossible.

Ferris, I'm with ya... however, I'm sure it's taking an enormous amount of effort behind the scenes to get anything at all ready for public consumption. I'm still watching the mainline MC mags and such to see if they work up any stories about Bruce and Erik... it's probably a little soon to tell, and the 2015 MC market year is ceding to 2016 as we head into autumn.
Here's hoping 2016 is HUGE for Erik, Bruce and the Elves! With my new job, maybe in a year or 2 I can justify a new bike!

I doubt many of you saw my post in the EBR in the news thread earlier this week, but Erik did make an interesting response to a comment on Facebook on Monday:
quote:
BK: When will we get some good news?
Erik Buell: Probably end of the month.
Glad to see something from Erik, no matter how brief, about what's going on. Hopefully the info floodgates will open up by October 1.

"end of the month" would actually be way sooner than I had envisioned. While more interim status updates to dealers and such would be really nice, if EBR can put out something significant to the global public in the next couple weeks that would be huge.
