If you have been on the Bad Weather Bikers Facebook page you've seen this. I love it. http://www.bikeexif.com/norton-cafe-racer This is actually something like Buell could make better than anybody else, I'm sure, and make it with a great performing chassis. It has been a frustration for me to witness other makers snipping off bit's of Buell design elements and style here and there. Not to pile a list of requests on the new new new Buell. But if they could make some awesome tubers, that would be awesome. No pressure!

"It’s not powered by a Triumph or even a Harley Sportster engine—but one from a Buell X1." uhhhh there aint that much difference between a sporty motor and a buell x1 motor, they realize that, right? Look, I think its a beautiful bike, and probably very nice to ride. but this is just another Norley, quit trying to church it up (not you, the owner of the bike and author of the article) https://youtu.be/VJU3lsezXjc?t=13s |

I don't get your point about 'stealing bits'. Riders have been making these hybrids since the fifties or earlier. The featherbed frame is one of the best Norton made. The tank, seat look british. The alloy rims and Avons have always been on brit bikes as upgrades. So he put a X1 power plant in it. I have no problem with that except maybe he stripped a perfectly good X1 for it, LOL! I do wish Buell would steal from him, the dual front brembo brake setup. I wish the new EBR compamy would make a modern version of this.... (Message edited by bsanorton on August 14, 2015) |

It says the engine has been properly warmed over but that air cleaner is just for show and probably knocks at least 10 HP off the top end. A friend bought a slightly modified Sportster for his son but it wouldn't run. Ended up I found the MAIN jet was clogged! I've never seen that before, it's usually always the slow speed jet. So anyway, I got it running but he had one of these chopper air cleaners so I told him to get rid of it. It's not letting any air in! I talked him into an S&S air cleaner that wasn't cheap but he did it. He was totally amazed at the difference in power. So as cool as that bike is, and I'm an old Norton fan, I'd drop kick that air cleaner right off the bat! |

BSANorton, Not complaining about that bike. This is an example of what I'd like Buell to do. I'm talking about other stuff on other makes like the underslung muffler, upswept short tail, mass centralization, etc. What I am saying is, the elements of Buell are being borrowed, but the real deal is dormant. My desire is for Buell to get back at making raw bikes, not race bikes and this bike is an example of what they could do. Also trackers or other naked bikes. |

If you like this bike, you'll probably appreciate this build thread at ADVrider- the Buell Metisse Cyclone: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/buell-metiss e-cyclone.1045936/ |

Very cool Hugh! I'd love to have a TT racer like that. My retirement project has been sitting on the shelf for 30 years. Motors done, paint is done, chrome is done, just need to get a fender bracket and some wheels. It's a 1975 Triumph Trident. The last attempt to take on the Honda 750. It was a better bike, just cost twice as much. It may have not been as reliable but it was fast! |

Jon, Well that I can agree on. I would like a standard affordable modern hot rod M2 or X1. Buell kind of lost me personally with the XB(no disrespect to current owners). I like to SEE the engine and I felt too cramped on them. HD missed the mark with the XR1200, an old X1 could smoke it. HD also doesn't make the Sportster 'R' or 'S' series with the better suspension and dual front brakes. What I would like I do like the RX, but to much money for me and I'm getting older so a standard with good mid range power meets my needs. I know Buell can make a better XR1200! |
