Found this on Atlanta craigslist. As far as customs based on Buell drivetrains go,this one has some craftsmanship.I would generally shoot myself in the foot rather than see a Buell chopped up to make a chopper, but I know people are going to do it as long as Buells have little value.

That thing looks remarkably similar to a design I drew up about 10 years ago.I really like the fact that he kept it turn to the engine being part of the frame rigidity. I always thought that was the worst part of the bikes there were built using Buell motors.

Looks a bit like the Keanu Reeves bike discussed on another thread...

Nice execution. I like that so much of the craftsmanship is plain to see and not covered by filler and paint.

One thing really bothers me though. It's been a while since I've looked at chopper geometry, but doesn't it really screw up the trail when you add a bunch of rake with stock forks and triple clamps? Given the kind of radical rake (in the other direction) these forks started with, it may just be pretty unstable.

I don't understand how it can be titled as a Buell. A motorcycle is a frame. That's not a Buell frame. If I put a 350 in a 280Z it doesn't turn it into a Chevy. It turns it into a bad ass little car, but that's beside the point.

That is a beautiful build, and is selling really cheap. I hope future chopper builders everywhere look at it, and say "I could never do it that well, and I could never do it that cheaply" and then just put their M2 for sale on Craigslist for $1500. Where I'll buy it, and make it into... a good running M2 again. : )

My old M2 is currently for sale from it's 5th owner. He is asking like $3k (for a bike with 30k+ miles, obvious bad leaks, and lots of wear and tear). He says that for less than that, he will just make it a chopper. He won't of course, so there it sits, when for $1500 I'd buy it back and fix it all up again. Hopefully he doesn't get the sawsall near it. :/

Brian came to March Badness with that bike.
It was green then and had just been on that biker build off show.
There are pictures somewhere...
Looks a lot nicer now IMHO

Sadly, according to the latest Cycle World mag.
Buells have hit bottom pricewise and are good base stock for custom builds.

That said, the two above are the least offensive; of most that I've seen on the interwebs.
And, I guess in the long run it could make a stock unmolested examples work a few more Shillings.

The asking price is actually $22,000. It's a piece of artwork.

With the exception of the Monroe Sensa-trac shock, it's pretty cool.

At $2,200.oo it is a steal. At $22,000.oo Someone should have went back over the welds with a TIG torch and filler. I've seen better welds on Huffy bikes and I hate Huffys. If Huffy built an airplane, would you fly it?

All that aside, I do like this build.

"Someone should have went back over the welds with a TIG torch and filler."

Hah- check out the 2016 R nine T, available with either smooth or visible welds...

I gotta say- BMW is getting pretty cool/edgy with things lately. Somewhere I saw a piece about them doing a W-3 motor design concept!

I love and ride my R75/7 almost daily.

Yep, I caught the welds too and thought the same thing. That chain is sooo long if it ever came off it would slap the crap out of you!! As a custom though I do like it, would make a great TT racer!

I can live with visible welds. But I want some consistency in the welding and that is the human's patience and skill.
That gimmick on the R nine T....funny. Now I'd be suspicious of the finished ones. They would be the leaky ones that needed a touch up. I hate to say it but, even on the finished ones I can still see it. May as well give people an option. They will let you charge them extra for doing less.

After all that work, why on earth did he leave the fender mount on the forks??

For the price he's asking, it needs to be a finished product. Just saying. I wouldn't bother owning such a contraption, my back couldn't take it.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool looking, but that detail jumped right out at me immediately.

Saw that too. Still wondering how this can be titled as a Buell, I didn't see the headstock with VIN anywhere on that machine.

I don't think it could be titled as a Buell. Always make sure the VIN on the bike matches the paperwork. Probably never wanted to go through the hassle of getting a title for a custom build, and short cutted the processes.

I didn't understand why he didn't just use the stock caliper mount.

The listed said it was titled as an xb9 and he had title in hand, bet that would be a fun conversation with an officer on the side of the road.
