Awesome weekend! Was great seeing old friends again (we don't have to get into HOW old we're all getting...), great to make new ones, and great that my S2 made it all the way there, through all the crazy-ass rides up down and through those awesome roads...and all the way HOME again The ol' girl put down nearly 1,000 miles exactly, didn't drip a drop, and the only two issues I had were occasional overheating that made it ping (not like we were running hard or anything), and steering head bearings that were way too loose (thanks for the 13/16 wrench, Brad!!). Oh, and one part failure on the way home. Cheap goddamned plastic...doesn't even last 20 years...
Saw something fluttering under my left hand riding out I79...signal had broke off. Took the photo, pulled on the signal to get as much wire out as possible, and stuck the signal in the fairing bag for the rest of the trip. All at...oh...75mph or so. |

Made it home by 9:00! Did not do the twisties in the motorhome on the way back! Found out Thursday evening that routes 33/47/16 are NOT the way to go with a 36' bus towing 16' of trailer! It took a while to cover that 60 miles, and we boiled some brake fluid doing it! Had a great time with the asylum group again. It was almost sad to see that no one got admitted or locked away in the Allegheny Asylum for the Insane. Many of us fit their list of maladies that would have had a person committed back then, some with multiple assignments from the listings. The fire pit Jinga just felt right and the joy that came from the exploding screw top Coors Light cans was remarkably awesome, especially after we found that they were actually directional mini aluminum missiles. I cannot and will not accept responsibility for Big Jim's tramp stamp! Carlos.....I still think that is on you. Mark, as always you and your family are to be commended for the fantastic hospitality and the crazy good food! Thank you. |

Char - froggy was on his 1190sx and if you'd been there you could have ridden it. He was passing it around like a drunk cheerleader at prom...I think just about everybody had a shot at it! |

Had a great time, it was certainly an adventure traveling with Vern in that motorhome! We weren't sure we were gonna make it to the rally (boiled brake fluid that looked like Turkish coffee after we bled the brakes yesterday AM), and neither were we sure we'd make it home yesterday (the motorhome must've picked up a dose of the crazies passing by the asylum on the way up, Vern had to play footsie with it to get us home)... It was great to see everyone again, to make it to Mark's shindig for the first time... and both an honor and a blessing to meet Mr. and Mrs. Gainer for a great dinner at their horse farm/paradise! |

Dammit, Char, just leave off any extraneous miles, and you'll make it to the next shindig. I feel your pain. When the day comes, lunch and coffee on me. |

It sure was good to talk to and ride with a bunch of Buell enthusiasts again. Probably wasn't a wise decision on my part though. I am now trying to figure out how to turn my Aprilia (of 2 weeks) into a nice Buell. Damn my motorcycle trading habit is expensive. Argghhh, keep the pasta, embrace the pasta, save some money.... Great Weekend! Thank you Mark for putting such a great rally together. Your family puts on a great spread and the pulled pork just might be the best I've ever tasted. Judy's Potato Salad was pretty darned good, too. And the home made Baked beans matched the pork for flavor. They were memorable. I don't think I could have enjoyed myself more. Now, I know where I want to be next August! |
