The Obama care ruling simply restated that Obama lied, the D's in congress lied, and now it has bern ruled that the blackmail written in plain language in the law is itself now to be a lie. Scotus has declared itself your master. The majority of nine unelected lawyers will now write the law. | ||

It's been a rough week in the U.S. : Gay marriage endorsed, The affordable care act endorsed, the confederate flag pulled down, and another mass shooting in a church. Meanwhile in OZ : We turn back boats full of refugees, bribe people smugglers to transport refugees in leaky boats with minimal fuel back to Indonesia, intercept boats on the high seas and intern their passengers; condemn the national broadcaster for daring to criticise the government; plan to cancel the citizenship of individuals who travel to "no go " countries, fight in foreign countries, indulge in planning or threatening terrorism, or deface/damage commonwealth property. Originally, this was proposed as a decision to be made solely by the minister responsible for border security; after protest, the law will make citizenship self extinguishing by any of the above acts, to be restored only on appeal; I.e. Nobody makes the decision it only requires notification. Additionally, the government's intelligence organisation has increased powers to access personal communications. In comparison, I think the U.S. Is doing ok. | ||

Ouch. I thought we had incompetent dictatorship issues. You have my sympathy. I, personally am for gay marriage but we can argue again about it on another thread if you like. The Court decision on the subject, while literally writing law from nothing..... with no Constitutional or legislative reason...( just made up dictatorial decree ) at least all nine lawyer/rulers wrote affirming religious freedom. Nice of them to at least nod in the direction of the First Law & Right in the Constitution. The confederate flag hoo ha is pure hate distraction propaganda and ruthless control. I suggest ordering a confederate flag cake from a Yankee bake shop and sue. Have fun. I do point out the Stars And Bars has very dark meaning to a lot of citizens. Like the Nazi flag. To others it's a rebellious symbol with no context to the evil of the Democrat Party that both fought to keep slavery, then more recently raised the flag over the South Carolina Statehouse to say f-u to civil rights legislation. Yes. Democrats hoisted that flag. Banning the symbol is bull crap. And a violation of free speech. Speech you like needs no protection. It's what offends that does. ESPECIALLY if you don't like it. Look at it this way..... if they tell you they support stupid or evil ideas, it's easier to be wary of them than if they must lie. Alfau. Is English one of your languages? Roberts is the biggest joke of all. First he rewrites law(obomacare) then in the very next ruling he bitches about the others writing law. what a putz I kind of like Cruz's idea(think it was him) judicial/electorial review of each dipstick every so often. Although I think all of them should be kicked to the curb cause none are true. Each and every one of them plays politics to severe extremes and sadly don't even try to hide it | ||

I'd love to be able to kick justices off the supreme court for activist decisions, or ones that defy a plain reading of the law. However, they are appointed for life for a reason: It removes political pressure. They're supposed to be apolitical. I know, no such thing. Still, I don't think it's a good idea to make it worse by holding them accountable to politicians and an inflamed electorate. That would only make the court more political. | ||

   I was away from home and technology for a few weeks. I did spend some time way north in Michigan's lower peninsula where I got to hear some life long Northerners talking about buying Confederate flags. I got back to Chicago's burbs to find a Don't Tread On Me flag flying in front of the retired Sheriff's house down the street. We do live in interesting times. | ||

I found something out about BOcare recently that leads me to believe that any numbers about how many new people are being insured are completely bogus. We managed to get through the insane process of signing up for BOcare. We found it totally impossible to sign up on the web site, much less finding it easy. But that's old news. What we found out about two weeks ago was that they also signed us up for Medicaid. This had my wife completely freaked out because we were getting letters telling us that if we didn't pick a doctor that one would be assigned to us. This lead to going down to the local DHS office. Turns out we weren't the only ones based on conversations of some of the folks nearby during the 3 1/2 hour wait in the lobby. I have no idea how many of the "newly insured" are being double counted, but I'm willing to bet that the number is being grossly inflated just based on what I've just been through. Of course we shouldn't be counted at all, given that we only became newly insured after losing our current insurance. I haven't seen this in the news yet, and have no idea if we ever will. The bottom line though, then you are hearing how well this mess is working, you are hearing BS. The funny thing is that we couldn't qualify for Medicaid if we had tried. Now we had to take almost a full day of our time to get off of it, and they can't give you any answers as to ANYTHING with BOcare that we are under. It's pretty amazing to see just how poorly run government really is. People actually like this crap??? | ||

btw, I was having a conversation with a student of mine about Shakespeare. The many books that claim he didn't write the plays attributed to him. She's an archaeologist, doing grad studies at Cambridge. She says it's nearly impossible to know for sure who was first to say/write something, but you can usually figure out when it was before anyone said/wrote it. Then the subject turned to Obama. The Birther, "Born In Kenya" Conspiracy.... So we dug for a few hours on the net. As near as we can figure, the first person to claim Obama was born in Kenya, was Obama. His publishing company had as part of it's P.R. package a mention of the exciting new writer, born in Kenya, now a State Senator, and what an inspiring story of rags to riches his life is... book soon to come. Apparently, he started this lie to get noticed and have "street cred" in college, possibly as part of his means to go to Columbia, ( this is uncertain, since those records are sealed. ) but first mention seems to be around the time he started Columbia. No mention from Mother or family. This makes the glee the Obama team greet Birthers understandable, They KNOW he's not from Kenya, he just lied about it, apparently until he ran for Federal office, when being a Foreign National would have ruined his plans to become President. He did make a few "slips" during the campaign, which some people jumped on as "proof! Proof!!!" that he was not born in Hawaii. So, my unscientific conclusion is.... Barry was born in Hawaii. So put your hearts to rest. Now you can argue who his Father is. I have no opinion on that, at all, nor do I care. | ||

Sanchez is royally hosed. He admitted to being in the area for the sole purpose of shooting sea lions, which are protected marine mammals. California will put him in prison for far longer for that heinous crime than that of 'accidentally' shooting some poor woman (there's billions of those) in the back. |
