Front forks handled great. When asked what should be changed during track practice, Travis stated it tracked exactly as it should and no changes needed to be made. The drop at the end would have occurred with conventional forks as well. On the track the girder system with front mounted radiator is more than up to the task of racing.

The radiator was developed for the 1125r and 1125 ECM and Exhaust. The 1190RX with race ECM and enlarged headers at 10-14,000 feet ideally should have warranted developing a larger radiator for this system but there was not enough time.

Exhaust was a race version developed for this application.

Keeping the bike in control was direct reference to the slick conditions of the hot road surface (different than during qualifying conditions)

So, I let my Wife watch his run. She just starts in on him. Pointing out how much time he is wasting. Commenting on the inefficient modification of the 1190. I think the term dog turd came up when broaching the subject of aesthetics. And why didn't he use his off road skills to scoop up some snow to cool that thing down. Only thing she agreed with the driver on was his throwing that thing on the ground at the end. Now I remember why I go to HomeComing alone.

I think the important thing to note, is that the Ronin's were originally built for style, and the owner of this particular Ronin wanted a purpose-built Ronin for Pike's Peak and paid dang good money to get it. Within the contexts of what the customer wanted, I think Ronin did an excellent job.

That is absolutely the right place to mount the radiator. In the winter it might be a cozy envelope.

I can't even imagine tucking into that furnace when its 105* out.

Wow.

Just watched the entire vid- at 2:07 and 5:14 I sucked a little office desk seat up my ass... then I read his blog posts.

Wow, again. To have to lose a best buddy competing in the same event, then finish 2nd in class, 10th overall, unbelievable. My hat's off to the rider, the team, and friends...
prayers up for Carl's wife and family.

Reading the blog entry from the beginning, it affects your soul.

Some choice excerpts:

" The red headed italian bitch of a bike was finally letting him ride without sputtering and fart burping like a drunk having an epileptic seizure"

"Awaiting to come back down as a group the word went out that number 217 went off... Who is that I thought as if my brain was trying to keep it from me. It registered. On the way down there was an ambulance and flagging on the out side of Cog Cut, a blind apex corner that had become so bumpy bikes were jumping through like a mx whoop section. We sat at our pit waiting for the ambulance to pass us and head down the mountain. It never did. My retarded brain finally computed what the flagging was laid down for and why I would never again hear Carl's laugh. See his ear to ear grin and listen to him teach me about getting off the seat, looking through the corner and keeping my god damned feet on the pegs.
Friday morning I qualified P 2 less than two seconds of pole."

"Saturday we rode our street legal bikes up with normal traffic. Nearing the summit I stopped where Carl flew off. There were bumps. Big greasy fat marmot whistle pigs hanging out like Nascar fans. A culvert and many jagged boulders. My wife squeezed me and I knew she did not care to stop and see. She wanted to keep moving. Keep moving forward. On ward and upward."

Good stuff. VERY good.

This was posted to Ronin's FB page today; it's a blog with some great photos of the bike at Pike's Peak:

Not knowing, but one had a guy that looked like Carl in it- maybe not.
