Simply put.

I hope you guys get to enjoy family festivities!

God bless the USA! It isn't perfect, but it's our home, and we are what makes it good or bad. Remember this when you vote, interact with other citizens, and when you see the opportunities to help those less privileged than yourself.

I'm going to go eat ribs and shoot mortars, and otherwise celebrate with my wonderful family.

Happy 4th from the Malott family!!!

I'm breaking in a new pair of Red Wing Heritage boots and playing a Martin guitar.
If the roads dry up a little bit I may ride a Buell later on today to the fireworks.
Happy 4th, everyone, and a pox on the bloated tyrant King George!

Just put three pounds of country ribs on the grill, along with three pounds of chicken quarters, got some cherry wood smoke going... my honey is doing potato salad, green beans, squash croquettes, and a peach cobbler!

Happy Independence Day to all, be safe, gather your loved ones around, and have a good'un!!!

My better half had to work 2 to 11 today.....suck per normal.

I spent the morning with my four year old grandson helping me prep the boat for today. He helped cleaning coolers and such. Of course we had to take an hour break to watch a Mickey Mouse movie with a nap.

I then took the boat out(grandson could not go)on a fishing trip at noon or so, alone. I got a bucket of shiners to make an assault on the local bass population. About 2:30 I caught the largest small mouth bass I personally had ever seen. About 20" and over five pounds. Pictures later. I even got to discuss it with the local TVA boating police while they were doing their BWI checks. The Fourth is annually their biggest day.

With threatening rains, the fourth of July boat population was down from the normal. My intent was to stay out until the fireworks that are held annually on the lake happened. There is an awesome marina on Cherokee Lake, Black Oak Boat Dock. Live music all afternoon and evening, great hot wings, cold beer, great people, big fireworks and plenty of room.

I tied off to their new dock facility as dark approached. My youngest son and GF came out to watch the fireworks with me on the boat. Just got home at midnight after a successful three mile boat ride in the dark. Got a fish to fillet tonight.

Except for the wife having to work, probably the best Fourth of July I've seen in a few years. I better hurry with that fish.....if I don't get my beauty sleep I'll be grumpy all day tomorrow.....can't let that happen on my Birthday. The family said that they have stuff planned for me tomorrow.....er ah.....today.

If the number of people sleeping on my couches with the dogs are any indication, we had a pretty good party last night.

Happy birthday Vern, it's my cousin Ron's birthday also, and I'm heading down to Warner Robins to see how he's doing in his battle against leukemia. And pick up my mom.

A five pound small mouth must have fought like crazy! Those are strong fish.

Happy birthday Vern! You old coot!

Sounds like a great day! We had a cul-de-sac party. Tons of food, adult beverages and $1900.00 in big fireworks!! Left the party at 1:00 and crashed, leaving my cooler and chair in the neighbors yard. Well evidently I left the garage door open because when I left for breakfast this morning the cooler and chair were in my garage and the door was closed!

Nothing like good neighbors!

Thanks guys!

That fish was the first "brake slipping - pole bender" I have latched onto in a while. I was in 20 feet of water. It got on at about thirty feet from the boat running outwards. When I reeled it to about five feet from the boat it went straight down! Awesome fight! I found out that there is a lot more meat on a small mouth than a large mouth bass of the same size.

Pwnzor, my best to your cousin, and a mutual happy birthday.

Greg, I had the good fortune of living in a subdivision neighborhood like that for many years in Florida. We would spend $1500 + every Fourth on stuff "that you can't get", then block the intersection for an annual impromptu street party. New Years seemed to cost about $1200 or so. We'd spend about $250 just on a birthday or space shuttle launch! We blew up a lot of stuff in that neighborhood. I spent as much time every year sweeping the street as I did my driveway!
