I have been drooling over the Eagle Speedster for awhile, I have always considered the E Type roadster the most beautiful car ever built. Beautiful machine.
DIGGIN' it, thanks for the eye candy, Joe! That would be certainly worth the $$$ spent, to have THAT classic car brought up to modern build quality and sophistication.
My personal fave car is a '78 280Z- I owned both a 2 seater and a 2+2- obviously they were designed with an eye on that Jaguar. Some time ago I became aware of a program that Nissan was doing, taking back to the factory the old Z's, remanning/refurbishing the whole enchilada, then sending it back with a 2nd factory warranty...
THAT would be my dream car. Well, at least one near the top of the list...
The Jag, XK-E was the prettiest production car ever...... go ahead and argue, we all feel that way about our loves. Was Ann Margret prettier than Anne Francis?
Owned a '65 convertible 6 banger, Blue. For one day, and never got to drive it.
A buddy's Dad ran a garage, and took one on mechanics lien, and I bought it. My Dad was fine with me having a Jaguar at 16, but insisted I insure it. ( Dad was smart )
A few hours on the phone with the following conversation repeated......"Need insurance for a car..... Jaguar..... 1965..... E type..... Convertible..... 16.. click"
while I was on the phone, the neighbors gathered and the guy across the street offered me $500 more than I paid. Only car I ever made a profit on.
LOL - I'd be buying an XBRR and a RS and my Blast and handing them to JTS for modifications, getting and modifying a Zero as well and upgrades - lol - pay off the house, update it a bit, and just go ride. My cousin Bill had every and any car in the world, and found a damn modified Mazda was better than most of the rest for serious street driving. If he where alive today - it would have probably been the Toyota. I like my cars comfy and safe, motorcycles on the other hand are tools for the soul - as he would say. William Quinn -Rip EZ
On the one hand, For 3/4 million bucks, I'd be able to buy my dream "Dirk Pitt" hanger/garage/apartment and several very cool toys to put in it.
Listing the toys would be a fun stretch of fantasy, but you can assume a few Buells, a small and unimpressive car collection, ( Jeep Unlimited Rubicon, A road legal go cart ( Miata, perhaps... ) Van, econobox, and a couple of diverse aircraft. ( Velocity, ( fast, 4 seat ) Phantom X-1, ( a fully aerobatic ultralight ) Highlander Super Stol...
And I think buying a bespoke custom car a thing for the very wealthy, and I'm just more practical than that. Even though the Eagle is Sophia Loren sexy.
But.. OTOH I love that I live on a planet where silly thing like the Eagle are made as labors of love, or Show them up cars like a Buggati Veyron. A ridiculous waste of money and insane to drive to even 5/10th on the public roads... But I'm glad they exist, just to go Oooooh, at.
And of course argue about on the internet.
( If you haven't read any of the Dirk Pitt novel by Clive Cussler, at least see "Raising the Titanic" or "Sahara". The main character lives in a hanger in D.C. with a luxury bachelor pad upstairs, and a huge garage to keep his collection of cars and airplanes, which are featured in the novels, either as the Airplane he escaped Certain Death with, and managed to retrieve from the Ice Cap/Desert/death place later... or the collector cars he always gets chased in by bad guys ( usually in multiple hot Mercedes ) Like a '29 Cord, Bearcat, or some other classic )
Cussler's a prolific writer. He's also a real life character out of one of his novels. He's a marine archeologist, and has found several famous wrecks. Interesting guy.
