WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) issued the following statement after Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) announced that its customers covered under the President’s Affordable Care Act will face an average 25.7 percent premium rate increase next year. Currently, 560,000 North Carolinians are covered under the Affordable Care Act, of which 397,000 are BCBSNC customers.

“Today’s announcement that North Carolinians covered under the President’s healthcare law will be hit with more crushing premium rate increases is yet another confirmation that the Affordable Care Act is not affordable and is creating hardship for millions of families. Hardworking Americans deserve an off-ramp from ObamaCare to a patient-directed healthcare market that will control costs and give them more freedom to make their own healthcare decisions.”

When does the talk stop ?
My health care premium is almost as much as my house payment/ with a 25% increase it will be more, I have minimal coverage with a huge deductible, and no copay any things,

Subsidy is a joke
the ACA is a joke

So far the repubs have staged nothing but theater..

next years taxes should be interesting....

I have been contacting Senior Republican Leadership for FOUR years with solutions to ObamaCare - nobody wants to hear it.
They don't even respond - if they, or a think tank that pays them didn't think it up - then it simply doesn't exist.

Pity. I know a thing or two about that Law, and a few things about how that market functions.

hint - group policies - based on universal coverage - will NEVER be affordable.

Hey City: I would like to hear your ideas, would you be willing to amplify your comments
on another thread?

And I regularly write my senators and congress men so I can ask them why or why not.

Unfortunately - it takes bravery and huge dose of cohonez.

For the domestic market - your first hit is to self fund as a company; if you have over the 50 full time employers - there is still a loophole that will allow you to 'self fund' through a TPA - this will be affordable ... until the IRS notices the wave of companies going that direction.

The course of insurance - REQUIRES - a risk assessment of those actually getting pooled together in a risk vertical; without doing that - you are creating the EXACT same toxic assets that killed the housing market in 2007 (which they never fixed by the way - they are just now calling it 'Non-Prime' rather than "Sub-Prime"; but it is the same game)

For individuals - I have to hold that one close to my chest - I have a proposal out to BRICS / AIIB for a global health care consortium based on actuarial stability tables.

That goes live - and you will know about it ; ) It will probably make the news - I will be on an island somewhere ; )

Why does the ayatollah remind me of the early Woody Allen comic skits?

So BO actually admits that he has no strategy for dealing with the J.V. team. At least he has a strategy for climate change. Who's the worst President in US history?

For crying out loud , even if you don't have a strategy (which is absolutely par for this guy's course), WHY IN THE WORLD would you say anything even remotely resembling those words when you know the world's greatest terror threat is keen to every move?!

The warriors are being forced out with Executive orders to inform on the troops, sensitivity training, and sexual weirdness.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/419488/three -obamas

Short form.
1. Obama thinks he's done an Awesome Job, and deserves credit for saving the planet.

2. Most of us think he's a lying sack of ^%$#, this includes all of our former allies. Trust in America is at a low not seen this century. Unemployment, welfare, and inflation have all become worse than before he came to office, and his bragging of great success is all about things he either had nothing to do with, or actively opposed.

3. This was completely predictable, based on his utter lack of qualifications and past record as a dishonest exploiter.

My take is that the odds of nuclear war are approaching unity. Not the Big One with Russia, although that certainly could happen, but the Gulf States are rushing to get nuclear weapons from Russia, China, N. Korea, & Pakistan. They WILL be used, by Iran because the leaders are Priests who honestly believe that murdering millions is Holy Work, and only Armageddon will bring us to the Promised land on Earth. The other Gulf states will use them because they have nothing to lose, and will be dead if Iran and ISIS go unchecked.

But, I could be pessimistic.

I don't have to wonder why congress's approval sooooo low, when the pResident does this.

more over reach, just where are the "law makers"? No ISIS stratagem but worries about "affluent" neighborhood makeup.

Its obvious that congress has failed in its job .....

again....

They have something called "section 8 vouchers" that were supposed to do something similar. several people in our neighborhood tried it and 100% of the folks that moved into those rental units were scumbags, drug dealers, heroin addicts or prostitutes or all of the above. Now my neighborhood is not affluent by any means, but no way would anyone in our private community ever go for this. 5 years later we are still fixing the mess created by the last section 8 resident with no help from the county (they pretty much ruined one house that has gone into foreclosure because the owner could not afford to fix the problems, nor would the EPA or county let him).

I doubt that the folks in a gated community where the homes sell for over $1million would even consider allowing a 3 story apartment building to be built next door.

It's normal to tie a government grant into some conditions. Social engineering is the way of the Progressive.... Liberals too, I admit. Heck. Conservatives don't like to admit it, but they try and shape the culture too, they just don't play the entertainment game very well lately.

This parallels the disaster of the Housing bubble.

Short form and oversimplified.

People who own their own homes keep up the property, are better neighbors, less likely to be criminal, etc. etc. ( All true. )

So.... more people owning homes instead of renting is a Good, right? ( sure, sounds great )

So.... we will pass regulations to force banks to make loans to people who, because of income (or attitude... but mostly income ) can't come up with a 10% down payment, and have "iffy" ( or no ) credit. ( Um.... ok? )

So, loans are made, people get houses.... but at the same time the new rules make it easy for an entrepreneur to buy & sell houses with little capital investment... Not a horrible thing, in itself. But... the "Flip this House" phenom became tv shows, how to game the system tapes and seminars. Turns out it's LOTS easier to tell people how to work hard and make money than to work hard and make money.

So Jillion$ went to yuppie idiots, some who wised up and succeeded, some who did not, but the scheme is based on ever rising prices. This hurt the poor people it was intended to get into homes, and made banks and loan companies richer than ever... and when the prices paused, ( since they were too high from "artificial" market pressure ) people who didn't have much of their own money into houses, walked.

No problem, the Government had promised the banks that the taxpayer would cover any bad loans, and they wouldn't lose a penny... When the whole mess stuttered to a near stop, We paid for it.

And on top of it all, certain companies came up with the idea that you could bundle the loans together into "securities" ( gambling bets ) that got manipulated by the smartest of the greedy, and... we paid for it. ( CDO's ) And instead of stopping the practice, the government supports it... ( blame Georgie & Barry for that one.. ) If you look who from the companies that we bailed out became the people running the government programs to bail them out.. ( what? but that's freaking evil ) you just get angry. And too bad. boo hoo. Pay up, peasant.

The worst part is it turns out the premise of the whole thing is flawed. Yes, people who own homes are better neighbors. It turns out that people responsible enough to own homes are better neighbors... duh. The owning of a house doesn't make you responsible, or a good neighbor.

The lack of understanding of cause and effect is, alas , bipartisan.

And.... I agree with Airbozo. Some greedy community leaders will take the money and run, not caring that their community will be shared with people not sharing the established community interests. They'll be gone.

Now, Obama assumes that the established community interests are Dead White Guy Evil, and in some cases that's true. But much of those "conservativeracistrunningdoglackey" interests are good, and not auto-racist because they are American ideals.

Which He has promised to destroy. Hope & Change.

I think a lot of folks were thinking they were done with the crap from the fools in office and wanted something different. Some were thinking they were done with the old misguided fools club and some were voting for color. I also know a bunch of folks that voted for him strictly for an end to a war started by misguided fools based on lies, something republicans would not commit to.
