Someone at ebrforum.com found a Russian news article today that claims Polaris will buy EBR. Admittedly that's not the most credible source, but it'll be interesting to see if it proves true. Source: http://www.motonews.ru/news.moto?id=11781 (Message edited by Hughlysses on June 09, 2015) |

I'm holding out for the "poop" from North Korea. You know how sneaky the Russians can be. |

Pulled up the article but I can't read Russian. How ironic if this article was true, the Russian's knowing more about this than the American press... |

They're just repeating things already speculated on as fact. They are a bit far from the believed involved parties to be taken as a reliable source of info. |

I think the pic of Erik, shirtless on a horse, fueled speculation. No hurry on the Motus . . . they're been "about to introduce" as long as I've been "about to retire". I have my club hat, goodies and all the swag . . . so when they go . . I'll be ready. I'm betting my retirement comes first. |

The Motus baby block is a cool engine. I think that supercharged creation is more appealing than the production bikes. |

I like the look of the Motus, but can't understand why they have a motor with crank inline but use chain final drive. It's a deal breaker on a bike like that for me. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way, Mr. grumpy. It's stupid, especially for a sport TOURING bike. Give me a shaft drive I don't even have to think about while I'm out riding. I've gotten spoiled by my Beemer's shaft drives and my old Buell's belt drive. I don't ever want to have to deal with a drive chain ever again. Okay, I know the C650GT has a chain final drive... but it's fully enclosed in an oil bath; out of sight, out of mind. |

The price tag of the Motus is what makes it out of the question for me. You could buy a whole slew of motorcycles for 40 grand or whatever the figure is they were talking about. |

And that is exactly what pushed many people away from the 1190RS |

It wasn't so much the money, but they've just not made a bike I'm interested in spending the coin on. |

Pretty much my story. The 1190SX was pretty close, except for the Herculean effort required for the clutch. Not an issue if you live in an area without much traffic but a MAJOR issue here in the congested NYC metro area... |

Jamie, You do know that the 2015s solved the clutch issue right? If they had stuck around this year the clutch was a non-issue as the pull is so easy my 100 pound wife can handle it. |

Clutch pull on my SX feels about the same as my 1125CR. |

The white Motus MSTR sitting in the lobby of the Barber Motorcycle Museum looks road-ready to me. Even though the engine has a fore/aft layout, the transmission turns that 90* and cancels out some of the twisting physics. Adding a drive shaft would introduce another two direction changes (might also have something to do with all the current shaft-drive designs being patent protected). A shaft would be nice but not a deal breaker. If they had ABS I'd be all over it. Speaking of the Barber Museum, they have a nice display of Buell/EBR cycles. I wonder how long it will stay on the floor. |

Me too Hugh. I hope and pray something good comes from this and he gets the backing needed to go forth. I would love to see him back in business and selling some of the items he designed for Hero,if possible, just for spite! |

Hey Buelliedan, any idea what the MPG will be? I think it's a 5.5 gal tank for "good range" whatever that is. I'd like to see a true 200 miles per tank. |

I have asked the owner of Motus for an answer to the mileage question. |

Here is the answer to the mileage for the Motus direct from the owner 5.5 gallon tank. We see 225 miles/tank when thrashing, 250 when riding "normal" and the record is 286 miles per tank (no luggage, 70mph on the interstate with cruise control). |

Ask him the cost. The last time I spoke to him I asked what the design target was for price. He was very evasive. I tossed out where I thought it would move and he told me I was way off I'm just learning my way around the business and am curious to see what they decided on. |

That's about what I was thinking. I was trying to plot an elasticity curve based on some assumptions and similarly priced products. The curve steepens at $10,000 ...... We went through that with the first S1 Lightnings. In the $15k-20k range you need a "hook". In the case on Buell/EBR elevated brand loyalty and community will often tip the scales and get folks to purchase point. In this range good financing programs and "sales" ....."hurry and save $2,000 if you buy before some date" will help move product. Over the $20k mark ..... With consumer motorcycles .... You're dealing with the crowd that's comfy spending $10k on a watch or $137k for the wife's G63 grocery getter for the weekend house at Sag Harbor. It will be interesting to see how they set up to provide service and support. The EBR products had at least a resemblance to something most HD dealers had seen before. I'd be hard pressed, stands in Nevada on a Saturday night, to know where to have road service take the Motus. |

For $30,000.00 I can get THIS. Someone better have a DAMN good reason for me to spend the same amount of money on a bike that doesn't even come close to that on a feature by feature basis. |
