My wife has been a little down in the dumps as she's undergoing chemo and she's worried and is starting to feel the side effects of it all.
I took her to the motorcycle meet in Ephrata, PA this morning where it's all you can eat breakfast for $10 and there were around 1,000 motorcycles in attendance.
I told her to look tough for the camera

and then we found something that was about the size she could handle

but what she liked best of all was the helmet sticker that I bought her for a dollar.

We both have new silver helmets so hers is now customized.
For a laugh, I just had to say "Oops, I put it on the wrong helmet..."

Just kidding, it's on her helmet, not mine.
For a dollar I made her day.

I've been around a lot of chemo patients, the latest being my mother in law.

Let me tell you, and you be sure to tell her for me, she looks GREAT.

Every day is a gift. God bless you, and we'll be praying your family to have peace during her recovery.

I think I neglected to mention that I'm slated for sinus surgery next month so we're both a little screwed up right about now.
However, all is not lost as I figured out what to do.

Life throws all sorts of weird, miserable situations your way and the thing to do is to always keep looking forward with an attainable goal in mind.

Lynda has been talking about getting a used Subaru for years SO this upcoming August I'm going to help her get one and I've made arrangements for us to fly on up to Minnesota next Spring where I'm going to visit and write an article on the Magnepan speaker company, purchase a buddy's Triumph motorcycle, we'll go to the Red Wing boot factory and buy a few pair of factory seconds (and get our picture taken with the world's largest boot) and then take the scenic ride on back to Pennsyltucky with a "new" motorcycle and some very stiff foot wear.

Funny how things just seem to come together out of nowhere all of a sudden but there it is.

She'll beat the cancer, I'll get the piss lasered out of my schnozzola and it's off to the races once again!

Steve, good luck on both.

I've been curious about my sinuses all my life. When I was 5, I bisected the dash of a 1968'ish Mustang with my nose.

My sister and I were taking the family dog to the vet, dog was sick. I felt that the dog should ride "shotgun", I'd ride in the right rear backseat. We started to go through a green light, a dump truck ran the light, sis slammed on the brakes. My nose split the vinyl, the foam, and I saw the metal dash under it all. Then I bled, A LOT. Dad showed up, poo-pooed the going to the hospital thing- guess it was too expensive even back then. 43 years later I can still see it all.

I sit here typing, and I'm breathing clearly, which is a rare thing this time of year- been out on the Truimph, that might've helped... still, with allergies and such, I'd wonder what my diagnosis/prognosis would be.

Steveford, I had the sinus surgery about 4 years ago, and they fixed my deviated septum. I also had some throat surgery. The nose and sinus surgery was a piece of cake. A little uncomfortable, but tolerable. The throat surgery was pure hell.

Anyway with all four parents (in-laws included) hospitalized with various issues in the last 2 months. Mom beat cancer, and I know your wife will too. This all puts a different perspective on life, and I too pondered your original question of what makes people happy?

So, my wife and I are selling most everything we have (not the bikes, easy now!) and embarking on a new life in a new place. I quit my job, she's ramping hers down. The new goal is health, happiness, and freedom, not wealth and possessions.

I wish you and your wife all the best.

BTW I still have the S3T that you turned me onto quite a few years ago.

It's amazing what they can do with cameras nowadays so an EN&T specialist can give you quite the view of what's going on in there.
Mine's not so good as the infection took out a tooth and the oral surgeon dug away until I have a tunnel running into my right sinus and the infection has kept the hole from healing shut.
Monster polyp, too, caused by months of a river of, well, snot, which I just couldn't shake. This will be my second sinus surgery, the first one being around 20 years ago.
Johnnylunchbox,
Good for you and your family. Glad to hear you still have that S3T - that particular bike impressed me to no end. Smooth and fast as all get out. It would be a mistake to ever let that one go as that was one of the best tube frame Buells I've ever ridden. It must have been made on a particularly good day at the factory or something.

Steveford, I've been to that monthly show in Ephrata many times, but unfortunately missed it in June.
I wish you and your wife all the best!
Your wife looks like she enjoyed herself at the show.
I've known my wife for 35 years, but when she started with surgeries and chemo in 2011 for multiple unrelated cancers, I realized she was the strongest person I had ever met.
Strangely, we became closer than ever, and she is now cancer free.
Sounds like you guys have a great thing together, Keep on healing together!
Maybe see you in Ephrata once my S3's electrical woes are fixed.
Mike

Get that S3 going!
It looks like the chemo is working and the cancer is shrinking so she's up for another round of 6 treatments.
As for me, I'm up at 2:21 AM due to steroids and it's a pretty safe bet that I'll be going in for sinus surgery.
The hole from the pulled tooth into my sinus is not closing up which bites the hairy banana.
We'll get this crap under control and next year we'll be riding home on a "new" Triumph Legend to celebrate surviving 2015.
Getting old sucks but it beats having them dump you in a hole and shovel dirt on you.
P.S.
If you need help getting your S3 sorted, send me a PM and I'll do what I can.

Good luck with the next round of your wife's treatments, hope it continues to help.
Sounds like you are destined for surgery too, and you are right, it sure beats the alternative!
Working on the S3 as time permits.
Kids home from college, so there is very little spare time for my stuff.
Bought the wife a Vespa, teaching her how to ride so she can take the safety course PA offers.
The wife and I will be happily riding together soon.
That Triumph Legend will be awesome.
May take you up on that, I am terrible with electrical gremlins, another badweb member has been helping me too, this place is great for support, both bike and life related.

Steve, I think people make their own selves happy or sad by choosing what they will be content with. "For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content", Paul writing to Timothy. Some people treat each other in a way that makes it near impossible to not be content. I too have one of those.

I wish everyone in the bad web family the best that have a lot of health issues. my spousal unit has had two shoulder surgeries in last 18 months ( both shoulders) and still hasn't gotten her 96 sportster sport out but 2 or 3 times since. i'm getting ready for a bit of sinus surgery as allergies have gotten way out of hand resulting in a lot of goo in head to be polite. We just keep trucking as best as we can,
the sticker idea is a good one as in 06 I had a l4 l5 fusion. we decorated my back brace with all we could find before surgery to be prepared. best one was right above my butt that said in very small print - nosey little fu er aren't you? nurses got a hoot out of that one as they had to get real close to read it. my wife has one on her oil tank that says " my other toy has a dick". now when I have had to borrow her bike a couple of times, that led to a couple confrontations. I just simply asked " do you wanta fight now or later". That would blow things off and a few laughs were had. I mean, what to do when you borrow a 59 year old females bike? Life is good and we are all doing the best we can! May the goddess bless all and look after everyone here on badweb. Best wishes and prayers for everyone here on badweb!

Sinus surgery for FunBoy here August 18th. I may have to undergo two surgeries depending upon how the first one goes.
This infection is a tough one but we'll get it. Stupid honker.

Steveford, glad to hear the wife is responding to the chemo. Several people at work have done it recently and my mom has on/off the last year.

I had sinus surgery in 2007. Life changing to the point I would repeat if needed. Even my voice changed...lol. I went from antibiotics and sinus infections every other month to maybe once a year but usually flonase and saline rinses will do the trick. I am hyper sensitive to just about everything now but that is a small price to pay.

Take it easy during the recovery and don't do too much. If you push it, your recovery will just last longer. Don't ask how I know. Get whatever you can done now so you can rest after.

Good luck!

Newmans3,
It's not looking too good for Ephrata. All of the medications Lynda's been on for years ended up giving her gout as a side effect and it's returned with a vengeance.
She came back from the podiatrist acting like she sat on a hornet as they had her make an appointment two weeks from now for a cortisone shot.
I don't think she can put a shoe on, let alone get on a motorcycle.
Robertl,
This will be my second sinus surgery. I went back to work too early the first time and I won't do that again.
This time I'll just listen to music and play my Martin acoustic and will try and behave.

No worries Steveford, we'll get a ride in eventually.
Health is top priority, hope that cortisone shot helps your wife's condition, sounds painful.
Relaxing and playing your Martin guitar while healing doesn't sound too bad, take advantage of the time off.
Take care, keep the updates coming.

Good Lord, the doctors wanted to give her an MRI for another health issue. Luckily, she had the brains to have them check and then double check as she has an Onyx brand heart valve and you can't have MRIs done with that. Something about magnetism and metal and the results could be fatal.
She was right so no MRI for her!
Sinus surgery for fun boy tomorrow. It's hell getting old.

Man, it's scary when you know about the near screw-ups hospitals pull; imagine all the ones you DON'T know about.

Good luck with your sinus surgery. Long-term sinus infections are nothing to screw around with; ask Glitch.

Now you know why there's always a big smoke stack next to a hospital...
They nearly killed her off with morphine a few years ago, they gave her medication which led to a stroke, they let her have too much crushed ice following heart surgery and she vomited into her lungs and flat lined, they've done all kinds of things to her.
Thank you for the good luck wishes. This infection is quite the doozy, I may be having a follow up surgery as one may not do the trick. Fun and games.

It went well, now to just quietly hemorrhage a bit with the godawful ugly Stax Sigma headphones on and listen to the radio on an old Harman Kardon tube tuner.

Thanks to the Rush Limbaugh-grade pain killers, I'm good to go (kinda).
Lynda just told me why they were trying to give her an MRI - blood clot found in (on?) the brain. The cure is Coumadin which she's already on.
I really could use a vacation. Maybe a one-way motorcycle trip to someplace far, far away from this crap.

Yeah, those Stax headphones are probably the ugliest things ever but even after all these years, they still sound great.
I got it into my head a few years back to see how headphones have progressed since the early 1980s and bought a bunch of traditional headphones, a really nice WooAudio tube headphone amp and you know what? Nothing sounded as good as those ugly Stax boxes.
Somebody who's really into it wrote up a great comparison and he confirmed my opinions:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/634201/battle-of-the-flag ships-58-headphones-compared

That's not me, by the way! It kind of looks like a young version of the scientist from Jurassic Park and The Fly.
