I have set of the higher bars for the XB9R from American Sport bike. My R is very early and the brake line is too short with the taller bars. Even with all the slack taken out it is too short. No way it is going to survive full fork extension. I am assuming there is longer brake line but I don't know what model I would be looking for.

Any thoughts?

Its a brake line, just measure the length you need and order a universal one from the internet or where-ever

You're in good company if you're hanging with Al.
Venhill (and others) make just what you need for about $50 - specify banjos you need and length of line.

I am hoping to pick up the one I need at Hal's today or tomorrow so the bike is back on the road this week. They may actually have the part in stock.

Check Spiegler, They will know all the stock cable specs. You just tell them how much longer you want it and what color.

If Al @ American Sport Bike doesn't have the solution.
Check out http://

They built one for my bike, $49 delivered, in '07.

I sent Al a note. I'm thinking that a 9S, a TT or even Uly line would do the trick. Hoping Hal's has one.

The 9SX had slightly taller bars. I doubt it had a longer brake line, but whichever one it did have, it was probably the longer of the XB9 setups. A Uly line seems like a better choice, more likely to be in stock, probably the right connectors on both ends, and probably easier to deal with a "too long" line than a "not long enough" line.

Yeah. If it's too long, just tie a knot in it to take up the slack.

Fair point Nate, "a little too long" is probably not an issue, but "a lot too long" would create other headaches (bubble traps, room for slack, etc).

But "a little short" is a non starter, and "a little long" is not.

So how much longer is a Uly brake line than an XB9R line? Maybe a lot.
