I just got this email. Figured I'd share in case anybody is thinking of buying one. I'm sure others will be selling cheap as well.

Hi Thomas,

You are receiving this automated email because you have expressed interest in a 1190RX. As you probably already know, EBR has closed it's doors. As such we're are discounting the last few we have. One RX at 10999 + fees, one demo SX at 8999 plus fees, and new SX at 9999 plus fees.

If you are interested in any of these machines or would like more information about them, please call me at one of the numbers below.

How will someone ever obtain replacement parts for the EBR bikes? Really good pricing but if parts aren't available then it's a crap shoot!

I'd say they just became collectors items. Buy it and set it on the shelf.

Easy.

You will recall that Parts Unlimited, in Janesville, WI, was elected as the logistics hub.

They have LOTS of parts in stock and, with the exception of very few small items, should be in a position to keep any EBR products running for years to come.

They own the inventory and it is not subject to the current proceedings.

Court, Word from a couple of dealers that were searching thru parts unlimited. Yes there are some parts available in limited quantities but engine parts couldn't be found.

They both said that EBR was the engine part source.

So what if someone has a warranty claim?

How does the dealer get paid for the part and labor?

Ride it until you can't fix it. THEN put it on the shelf.

Pwnzor, LOL.

Yeah, $10k or less for one of these babies is awfully tempting, but it could turn out to be like a coke-head girlfriend...

they've had the same 3 bikes for awhile now so I'd bet they'll take less if they don't sell soon.

Many were "bent" on the 18k+ msrp.. well, rightfully so now that I see em' offered at 10k (I'm assuming thats close to what the dealers paid for em').. 8k +fees to the dealer? now thats some coin!.. I've heard that dealers operate on a lot less of a margin on other brands.

What if they had msrp'd out of the gate for 13-15k +nuisance fees.. that's still 3-5k +fees to the dealer

At any rate, I have to now say thank you EBR for providing us with incredibly affordable cutting edge superbikes! (..just with a plethora of
currently perceived caveats.. << or maybe not?! ..how's that for a mindbender)

Thumper, compared to other brands on the market, there is very little markup on these bikes. Any shop selling at $10K is losing money on them, though I wouldn't be surprised to see them down to $7K or less if EBR isn't bought within the next month. Our shop was an EBR dealer and though I won't disclose our cost, it is quite a bit higher than you think. If there was more markup on the bikes, they would have sold because dealers would push them. The whole reason most dealers didn't push them is because the markup is lower than the Ducatis, BMWs, Kawasakis, etc that they sat next to. Not every buyer is a staunch brand guy. Many are very impressionable, and a dealer will push them on the bike they can make the most money on.

that's too bad.

although with the internet now, I would hope the consumers would be more educated. It would seem weird to me personally to goto a dealership without knowing the exact bike I want to buy. I guess people are different in this respect.

It's all true. I had talked to an old Kawasaki dealership guy I had been talking to since I was little 16 year old idiot.
I asked hi how his biz was doing and he replied not so good with all the rainy weather.
I replied "What? do people only buy bikes on sunny days? do they just walk around with $12,000 in the pocket thinking 'I wonder what I will buy TODAY with this'"
He said "Yep pretty much seems that way."

It's hard for me to think of anything over $45.00 being an impulse purchase. I guess most people jump first then plan.

I would gladly pay $9k for an sx right now. Problem is I've got a lot of other bikes that I need to sell to make it happen. Funny thing is that I don't seem to break bikes much. Four 03 xb's all with the original drive belt and no problems. A new sx would last me forever! only thing to decide on is witch color.

Same here Doz. ..very little has come-up in the way of mechanical/electrical, or in general to bite me in my history with Buells.

Thumper
The 2015 1190 SX had a MSRP of $16k. My cost from EBR was 14K plus $400 delivery fee.

Not sure where you were getting this 3-5k markup?

EBRs had some of the lowest dealer margins of any bikes being sold in the US.

The dealers selling the bikes for $10,000-$11,000 are losing somewhere between $3,000 to $5,000 on each bike depending on when they received them.

A lot of you seem to think selling EBRs was a huge money maker for dealers. I can assure you it was not. Depending on what other brands you were or were not selling the closure of EBR could be a "death blow" to some dealers.
