So, I've gotten a couple pieces of mail, at my house, with my address...in someone else's name.

I bought this house from the people who BUILT it, so it's not a previous owner.

I've talked to the nice lady who sold it to me, she has no idea who this person is.

A whitepages.com search turns up this person, at MY ADDRESS, with a landline phone number for Pennsylvania (I live in Maryland, close to the MD/PA line).

MD state police ran a check on the name, no flags.

My plans are:

Run my credit tomorrow. I work at a dealer with a finance department, I'll have our F&I manager pull a full report.

Figure out how to run a report for my company.

And go somewhere NOT at home, to call the number associated, and ask them WTF?

Any other ideas? (yes, the sidearm is loaded and within reach)

Go to the post office, make sure someone did not piggyback your address with an added name card.

I had that happen years ago by an idiot who had no home address. Seems he was living in a van for some time in a nearby rundown industrial area. He was using my mail box for collecting gov't checks. It worked for him for a few months until I caught him reaching in my mail box on a Saturday morning.

He took my electric bill to the post office and forged a card for an added name to the address. Then he put my electric bill back in the box for me.

It appears that he watched me for a while, knowing I was single, and that I went to and from work at the same time every day. My neighbors were mostly elderly single people who never saw anything. The weird thing was that he never stole anything from me but my address, just to collect his free monies.

That's a possibility, since the whitepages.com info returns that this person is 65+.

Maybe the mailbox will get a slot, and a lock...after I visit the post office.

Or maybe you can reach an understanding with him/her. Maybe a new friend or resource. Don't let them in the house or on the property. I'll ask before using your address. : )
