Thanks a lot Joe! Now I will have that Jeff Dunham line stuck in my head the entire time I am with the family.....and I'd bet it leaks out now and then.....just enough to get me in trouble! Damn it, I don't need more ammo!

We have been to Jeff Dunham's shows a couple of times. He even called me out during one show to use a suggestion that I wrote on a card he passes out prior to the show. Up to that point, the early nineties, Walter had just been a grumpy old man. On the card I asked if he was married and if he was still a happy man. Jeff took off with it giving Walter a family back story. That was pretty cool.

I've gotta say . . . regardless of what side you come down on . . .wives v. no-wives . . . this is a pretty lop-sided conversation sailing wives with little or no opportunity for defense.

Lopping all "wives" into a category is like calling all Harley riders assholes.

. . . just saying . . . .

The thread isn't called "wives"...

It's called "women"...

If the wives had a say on this thread about women we'd loose control of it too!

Even though I feel lucky with my wife, yes there have been some "fun/Interesting times".

First off, Family.

I have the best In Laws a guy could want. Her In Laws however, suck. Lucky they live in another state. (OK not lucky, we planned it that way...

Here is the lopsidedness I see;

For my 50th, she took me to Kauai, for 2 weeks to relax. That was a few years ago. Her 50th is coming up next week, and guess what she wanted? A pool (OK a Swim Spa to be exact). Sure honey, I love you and want to see you doing something you love (and won many medals for). Total cost of my trip? ~$4k Total cost of her present? Closer to $50k...(and she wants a weekend trip wine tasting)

I jokingly bring up the fact that she owes me for my 55th and now I am a bad guy because I didn't like my trip?!?!?!

After many months (been planning the pool since July), I finally have her understanding that when the pool is finished and my sportster is back on the road (complete tear down for paint and some custom items) there will be a new/old Buell in the garage. Still adding up the trip, sportster (which was not part of the birthday thingy) and a new Buell, I am still below $10k...

I still love and lust her more than the day I laid eyes on her...

And there's the catch !
Your out $46K because of that love/lust thing.
They know what they are doing.

I joked above about "aging like milk", and pick on women like all the other guys. And...we won't get into how I feel about my ex.

And yet...

I still want to find one to spend my life with. Trust. Rely on. Support. Enjoy. First one failed miserably; hopefully the next one, whoever she may be...won't.

The milk line is, as I said, Jeff Dunham/Walter's line. My theory is...we're all crazy. Men, women, all of us. Trick is...finding someone who's got the SAME crazy as you do.

Hey! I am still happily married. I asked her just last night, and she said it was still true.

She asked me what I wanted for my fiftieth birthday(almost eight years ago). I responded that I would like to go on a long ride for several days on my Ulysses. Her gift to me was saying OK, go ahead.

So, I went to the '07 Buell Homecoming event. I had a great time meeting up with a bunch of you'all. She did not even have anything bad to say when I came home with broken ribs and sprained ankles. It was a superb birthday trip!

I have to say I've been lucky, all in all, since my ladies ( one at a time ) have been good companions on road trips.

One time my fiance & I had gone to NJ for an event and she wanted to go see the Statue of Liberty. It took an extra day and doubled the cost of the trip but we both had a good time despite weather and traffic.

Yes, I have spent a few days going to quilt shows and other events involving enthusiasms I don't share, but I've always been lucky that while I am expected to support such things neither of us insists the other has to wade through the whole thing. It's fine if one brings a book and sits out part or all of the event.

This kind of mellowed tolerance means that quilt, bike, gun, airplane, or art trip isn't a trial, but a sharing. ......and often a good nap.

Don't mind me, I've just been sick and grouchy due to the antibiotics trying to kill me.
We DID have a great time going to the Martin guitar factory and I'll never find anyone more suitable for me than Lynda is.
I just like to piss and moan when I'm ill.
