Hey all- I just picked up (stole!) some Yamaha outdoor speakers, planning to install them soon. Given that Radio Shacks are gone, not to mention LONG since stocked the components I'd need (grrr), help me figure this out... These are NOT Bluetooth, these are meant to be wired directly to the receiver/amp. What I'm envisioning at the least would be to run wires through my attic or crawlspace out to the deck, tapping into my "A" channel. After that, I'll need a way to control the volume, so a weatherproof double rheostat of some sort should do it... Or, might there be a self-contained, weatherproof, wireless receiver/amp that I could just plug into a power outlet? Somehow I doubt a product like that exists, but I dunno. I'm expecting to hardwire it, no big deal, but I'll definitely need volume control. This is basically a redneck custom job, but it'll need to work properly. Where would I find stuff like this? I know several of youn's can chime in on this, holla! And, thanks in advance as usual! | ||

I have a set of speakers I was fixin' to put on eBay that use the household wiring. You plug the transmitter into the speaker output of your receiver and there is a small antenna atop it. The speakers are batter powered and received the transmitted signal. They are not Bluetooth. For controlling multiple speakers you can go from the entry level OUTDOOR SPEAKER CONTROL to this DANGEROUS MUSIC unit from Sweetwater. I'm, just getting the audio done in my new construction trailer . . .without music to work by ,. . I am worthless. | ||

You could build an isolated outdoor system. Just get an outdoor amp with an iPod input - it will drive the speakers, the iPod will have a volume control. Get something with a standard 1/8" TRS jack, and you can patch in an iPod, laptop computer, or basically anything that has a headphone output jack - just get a 1/8" to 1/8" patch cable and you're all set. Hell, if you want old-school Appalachian-Engineering...get an old car stereo amp, and a 12v power converter! |
