Every year, many people watch the Superbowl who may not have seen a single NFL game. They don't know, or care who is playing, they watch to see the most expensive commercials ever made, and often the best.

There is also much attention given to commercials that offend some group.

Now, I'm not immune to being offended by other's words, but I don't assume I have any right not to be offended. I support anyone who complains about untruth, or cruelty. I may even agree with them. But there is a hyper-sensitive craziness in the modern world that should be mocked...

So suck it up, watch the game, and don't tell me the Budweiser ad with the Horse and Dog is heteronormative and reinforces human domination over animals, which is of course only a proxy for the gender oppression of the American Culture.

Or go ahead, I'll mock you.

Ignore the rant above if you wish, give me an opinion on the NASCAR ad, and post any commercials you like, or hate...

I've become aware that some of the Sunday ads are already out (most, I'm guessing), so, I'm trying not to spoil things.

I've already heard from my sis and my stepdad that the Bud commercial makes you go boo-hoo...

And, I've heard from stepdad not to expect a hugely close game, FWIW. So, I'm actually looking forward to watching/hopefully appreciating these commercials.

Bear in mind that I used to subscribe to Adbusters magazine, several years ago. Some of you may judge me to be a bad person for that. DILLIGAF. ; )

Anyhoo, here's hoping everyone has a good, safe, delicious, raucous, FUN, and entertaining Sunday. Game or not. I'll be hunting some excellent wings for the first half, then coming home for the second, and doing salmon, dill, onion, fresh pepper, cucumber and cream cheese (Kroger greek yogurt mix) flatbreads as needed thereafter.

This sums up my perspective...

Yay for snacks!

I'll probably root against Seattle, even though I am pretty sure they will win, just because I think Richard Sherman is smart enough to not be an ass, but chooses to be one anyway, and nobody in the Seahawks organization seems to have the desire to tell him to stop being an ass. His right to be how he is and say what he wants how he wants to say it. My right to root for his competitors as a result, even though I don't really like the other team either. : )

Posted in wrong thread . . .

As far as the Superbowl goes . . . I've got 2 problems . .

1) Reiner has wimped out and blown off NYC

2) I'm going to a party thrown by a local Obama campaign group.

I'll need the commercials . . with flying dogs and talking horses . . to keep me closer to reality..

The Superbowl will be as relevant as the World Series in a generation or two. Soccer will rule as soon as population of South America fully immigrates to the U.S.

Just giving an alternative here:

For those of you in warm weather areas this time of year, Superbowl Sunday around game time is an excellent period to do some serious RIDING!

NO ONE is on the road!

(Well...no one except you and some cops.
You still have to attempt to obey such things as speed limits and such, as those cops are pissed as hell to have to be working instead of watching the game and having a few beers.)

Just time it to be home around the end of the game to avoid the glut of impaired drivers that are heading home from the bars and partys.

If you could put a big screen on the back of the bike tuned to the game, maybe the cops would follow you around and not care how fast you were going.

Friend of mine in Montreal is throwing a superbowl party that I'm sadly unable to attend. He's doing the whole sandwich & snacks stadium thing, using a large dish that he had made up at the specialist printers where he works with a field printed in the bottom.
Apparently it looked so good that the company directors all immediately asked for one each too.

A UK friend told me that he loved the World Cup because the roads were so clear for riding then.
