Editorial http://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2015/01/12/sleeper- cell/ Torque, the reason supply/demand doesn't work with crooked politicians is price supports. Like the high price of college tuition, because it has price support from the government, in the form of student loans and give away programs, politicians distort the market. In New York, they decided they just weren't getting enough bribes, so they voted to have the taxpayer pay for their election campaigns, presumably so the bribes could be used for better purposes, like more and bigger compounds in the islands. |

Politicians, like the clap, are exempt from the laws of supply and demand. Demand for gonorrhea is zero, and yet..... |

Regarding senator Sessions' comments on STEM workers in the article above, he is absolutely correct. The market is flooded and employers want to drive wages lower. This is more crony capitalism using the government to provide an incentive (immigration waiver) to partially compensate new employees in lieu of wages. This makes the negotiation totally lopsided for current US citizens, regardless of heritage. On a side note, I had the pleasure to meet the senator and he seemed like a very intelligent and likable man. |

Blaming companies for the lack of skilled US citizen labor is ridiculous. Companies like these workers because, unlike most Americans, they did not get degrees in English, or art history, or women's studies. They have hard science degrees, engineering, math, etc. US colleges and universities do not push these degrees because they are hard. The drop out rate is higher. This affects their graduation rate, and makes them look bad. You want fewer highly skilled immigrants competing for jobs in the US? Don't let your kid get a basket weaving degree. It'll take a generation, but it'll happen. I work in the tech sector for a fortune 5. We had a security job open for a year and half. We couldn't find anyone qualified. We weren't lowballing. It's a 6 figure position. So the argument that companies just want to hire cheap foreign labor is not accurate. Companies are crying out for skilled labor. They have grad programs. They recruit on US campuses. If you intern with my company, you're guaranteed a job upon graduation. Show me an unemployed engineer and I'll show you someone who doesn't want to work. Show me an unemployed philosophy major, and I'll show you someone who has 'chosen poorly'. |

Our domestic side "overseas" folks are billed at $70/hr. That's $145,000/year. |

I wrote a long diatribe but, erased it because it diverges from the thread topic. Basically, my anecdotal evidence does not agree with your anecdotal evidence. |

http://pjmedia.com/blog/two-cheers-for-bad-governa nce/?singlepage=true Obama has NEVER signed a legal budget. The U.S. has been operating illegally on continuing resolutions for all but part of his first year in office. The obstructionist R's have slightly slowed the rush over the cliff, but not changed course one iota. I’ll pause here another moment to note that when the People’s House is unable to significantly alter spending levels or priorities despite deep and sustained changes in its members and their governing philosophies, then we have a representative republic with deficiencies bordering on pathologies. http://pjmedia.com/blog/sisis-brave-new-egypt/?sin glepage=true Short form? The guy who overthrew the Jihadi Dictator Obama helped put in office is far braver, and a far better leader than Oboma is. Egypt has a chance, unless Obama screws it up, and he will. |

"Our domestic side "overseas" folks are billed at $70/hr. " The lowest markup I ever saw on engineering wages was 172%, so that would yield pay equal to ~$41/hr or ~$85k/year. |

But it's the $70/hr paid for the employee by my employer that is at issue. What the employee agreed to be paid from that hourly rate is irrelevant. If we are comparing out of pocket costs, the fact that there is someone from India working in the US isn't reducing the wages. The markup on my rate isn't 172%. |

This deals with some insanity that has pretty much flown below the radar. Some schools have had canned food drives recently, not to feed the poor, or anyone else. It's in case of an armed shooter entering the classroom. They are actually teaching kids that they can stop the shooter by throwing canned food at him/her. These people must have failed rock/paper/scissors.

Please don't encourage violence with soup. I really don't want my assault chicken-noodles taken away from me. Soon, you'll own be able to by 3-ounce cans, after passing a background check. Of course, the MSM will not admit that more people are killed by Ramen than Canned soup each year. |
