.303 is a need right now too. I like shooting the old beast, but the ammo is pricey and hard to find around here.

You can't afford to own and shoot a 300 unless you reload.

Almost bought that 550... it was the prices to keep different calibers set up that was the deal breaker for me. By the time I got the shell holder and turret bayonet thingy, I was looking at something like $50 per swap.

For the Lee, it's like $11 for spare heads to leave everything set up, and it uses the normal shell holder that comes with the dies. So caliber changes are a snap.

A minor deal, but the Lee auto indexes as well, I think the 550b needs to be turned manually.

I forgot about using the Lee single stage. Takes 30 seconds to remove the auto index linkage.

I ripped an older lee single stage into two pieces trying to do military .30 cal brass though. Granted, it was one of the weaker C shaped cast presses. But still. It made me appreciate the "beef" of something like a Rockchucker, or like he O shaped Lee single stage I recently sold here at auction (which I heard, sadly, was lost in yet another tragic boating accident shortly after it arrived at the buyers residence).

Quite a few folk had such accidents. Statistics tells us that clusters like that happen naturally.

Me, age and arthritis told me a few years back I was in no shape for action sports so I gave away a lot of gear. I don't remember who got what that Christmas, (must be alzhimmers or something) but I do recall some smiles.

If I can just get the garage done next spring I just might have a few seasons left in me to do some soaring. ( need to store the ultralight motor glider somewhere besides the basement..... too heavy for me to haul up & down the stairs every week )

Besides I need the room for the weight bench and the free weights. Too hard to work out cramped by the mountain bike and the glider.

I pour my new garage slab Thursday. 14 yd. of fun!
New building parts arrive just after the first.
22' x 30', clear span, motorcycle lift flush with the floor, attic storage...
I might just start living out there...

Gee, I seem to be in the minority here, I haven't "progressed" into a progressive or multi-stage nutcracker. Still rocking a rockchucker and a jr for nutcrackers. Since I use them both, one for seating, the other for crimping during the nut-loading stage......does that qualify as semi-progressive? I still throw, weigh and dibble most every charge, pathetic I know. When I get crazy productive I weigh every five. I blame Dads German blood....

I don't care as much about production as much as I do about consistency and quality control. I hate pulling down my nuts. I like to complete one whole stage of nut production for one run before moving on, just the way Pop taught me and never really saw a reason to change. I don't care how many nuts per hour I crack. I understand why you guys do though, limited time or have other things on the plate and all. I tend to nutcrack over the winter months when it's dark outside.......better than sitting in front of the tube, or screen as it were...

The best advice to anyone new to nutcrackin' is to take your time, reference several sources for nut loads and eliminate external distractions regardless of the hardware setup.

Nutcrackin season starts soon here.......223, .243, .25-06, 7.62, .308 & 30-06 nuts are on the menu.....

Well, not long after the chanting "what do we want? - Dead cops!" they have executed a pair of cops. This will go a long way towards better relations with the police.

NYPD Union Chief Blames de Blasio for Cops Slaying ‘Blood on Many Hands’
Published on Dec 20, 2014

The New York Police Department’s union president delivered a statement effectively blaming Mayor Bill de Blasio for the deaths of the two officers who were gunned down in their patrol car Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn.

“There’s blood on many hands tonight,” Patrolman’s Benevolent Association head Patrick Lynch said while standing outside Woodhull Hospital. “Those that incited violence on this street under the guise of protest, that tried to tear down what New York City police officers did everyday.

He added: “We tried to warn it must not go on, it cannot be tolerated.” And he continued to not-so-subtly lay blame with elected officials: “That blood on the hands starts on the steps of city hall in the office of the mayor.”

Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were killed by Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, 28, who later killed himself during a police pursuit. His final social media post indicated a desire to get revenge on police for the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Reports indicate the deceased suspect had murdered his girlfriend just hours before the police incident.

I was just reading that his on and off girlfriend that he shot was a military reservist. I would think she has more respect for herself, than to date someone like him...I also read that he lived about 5 miles from where I live now.

#PoliceLivesMatter

It is time for Big Bird (de Blasio) to resign. Obama is his Leftist compadre who have both chummed up to the vile racist Sharpton.

Big Bird is a coward who blames the police and is now accusing the media of causing the problems of his own creation.

Big Bird must go.

There's no question the pResident, with the aid of the DOJ and the media, is ginning up a race war, and the current target of this sordid campaign is the law enforcement community.

What is 0bama's end game? What's he trying to accomplish by this?

Just heard on radio....so take with salt. ....that de Blasio's crusade against horse carriages is based on a big donor real estate guy who wants the land the stables are now on.

Communist. Corrupt. Incompetent. de Blasio.

Just goes to show that elections are an imperfect way to chose leaders. The winner is more and more the guy who gets the other guy's voters to stay home in disgust.

How do you think Barack got reelected?

"Bloody Hands: Do Obama & NYC Mayor Bear a Share of Guilt for Dead Cops"

Well, let me say that those dead cops could be my Son. ( I'd just have to have married a couple of different women )

I'm only a conditional fan of the police.

They are the thin blue line between me and the bad guys in our communities that would steal from me, rape the women and kill me for my watch. ( morons, it's a $25 Timex )

That means we take normal human beings, give them some training in how to handcuff a fat guy, and give them the power to use deadly force against the enemies of society.

Since they are the Sheepdogs of our society, they must also are bound by our laws, and must never, ever, use deadly force against the law abiding, and only in the most limited manner against the law breakers. ( you can't have police going Avenger and just shooting the bad guys out of hand like in the movies. Rest assured, officers, I understand the impulse. There's a REASON "Dirty Harry" is a popular film. )

As to racism, you bet your bottom dollar there are racist cops. As long as they don't act out, no big deal. Hopefully in another generation those old stupid attitudes will be gone.

The problem is we have racist politicians, and they are acting out. Every time they do I have to wait another damn generation.

FB1, there are two main goals of Obama and the DOJ in ginning up the race war.

First is in following with the principles of Cloward-Piven. Staffing up to police continuous violent protests is costing police departments millions of unbudgeted dollars. They are working to overload the system in order to hasten it's collapse, classic Cloward-Piven.

The second goal is the larger objective, to create open violent revolt such that the ONLY outcome is a larger police action. Martial law would be the furthest extent of this objective.

A midpoint stopover goal is to obtain Federal control of local police officers. "Local police beholden to local prosecutors can never be trusted to act within either the law or without racial bias. Only officers who report to the DOJ can be held properly accountable."

If this Administration tells me the sky is blue, I will be running outside to validate the claim for myself.
