I've been really busy lately & had not a few problems, which I'll not bore you with, so I've not been on here very much & hardly kept up at all.
Having just got up on a snowy morning here, I'm checking in while drinking my morning coffee & this is the first thread I go to. I'm so pleased to catch up a bit and see that Dave is improving by, what looks to me from my irregular dippings, leaps & bounds. I think it's wonderful, in the true sense of the word.
Another positive thought for Ann & Dave (& the rest of the Badweb family for that matter) to take from this is, is that it helps me keep my own problems in perspective & realise they won't submerge me.
I'm mentally planning a road trip, for when I eventually get all my crap sorted out,to go & see as many of my Badweb friends as I can. I'll be sure to drop by to see the Glitches if I can (I'll bring some maple syrup too).

Ann -
BWB'er Tod662 posted up an auction the other night and led off with this:
quote:
I almost met Glitch and Ann once, I ran over a nail 10 miles from the ferry to the Outer Banks about 8 years age, I was 60 miles from the nearest replacement tire and not sure how to proceed, I had my sister put a message on here and an hour later I was talking to Ann, they had the trailer hooked up and ready to come 4 hours to rescue me. I ended up plugging it and after it held air overnight I rode it like a Harley back to Myrtle Beach (slow and upright). It really shows what kind of people frequent this board, they were ready to help a stranger at the drop of a hat. Sometime I will get to thank you guys in person.
I'm posting it out here because I'm afraid you and Dave would miss it otherwise. I know you guys have done your share of "paying it forward" over the years. What goes around comes around, it would seem.

Won't be March I'm afraid, the weird & wonderful Quebec administration won't give me a slot to take my motorcycle test by then. Apparently due to the fact "It might be slippy." they only do bike tests mid april to mid october.
Sorry I've not been posting updates much this past week. I returned back to work part time and the rest of the time was spent hanging out at the rehab facility with Glitch.
Yesterday, I went for training from his occupational, physical and speech therapists. I learned where he is at in his recovery and what we need to do to help him with all 3 areas. I also received training about caring for his PICC line and administering his IV antibiotics at home for the next two weeks.
Today, we brought him HOME!!!! It's been a whirlwind of a day and we're all just about worn slap out!
We obtained a contract with Walgreens for his specially formulated IV antibiotics, which has turned out to be more wonderful and convenient than I ever could have imagined. 2 huge boxes of supplies - saline, heparin, alcohol pads, IV tube, IV pole, and a supply of the Magic JuJu Juice were delivered by courier soon after we arrived at the house earlier today. Walgreens arranged for a nurse to come by in time for his evening dose to help me set everything up and supervise me administering the first dose to him on my own. They will also be sending a nurse once a week to change the dressing around his PICC line and draw blood. The doctors began tapering his anti-seizure medication down, and he should be completely done with it in 2 weeks.
Tomorrow morning, a physical therapist will come to the house to do some exercises with him and evaluate the house. Just so she can see what his actual living environment is to offer suggestions about how he can better function at an independent level.
As much as we're excited to reconnect and see folks, we all need to settle into our "new normal" and establish our new routines. So, it will be a few days before we're ready to receive visitors. He still gives out pretty quickly - gotta work slowly on getting that stamina back up. It's also a very emotional time since he's been gone so long. I think we're all suffering from a bit of "battle fatigue". I can't believe he's been gone for 36 days!!
I'm so sorry I haven't posted sooner, but it has been an absolute doozy of a week and a day! Sir Goofiness started the car ride home by screaming "Freeeeedom! Freeeeedom! Free at last, free at last! God almighty I'm free at last!" and making me giggle most of the way home. He has been on an adrenaline high ever since we got home around 2:00 this afternoon, and has finally fallen sound asleep about 5 minutes after his head hit the pillow. I don't think I will be much farther behind him.
If you're reading this, we are forever in your debt - we couldn't have gotten him this far without each and every one of you sending out the good vibes, the prayers and well wishes!

Hey Dave!
What a relief that you are on the mend. Gosh you had me scared there for a while. Will be interesting to hear your take on the whole ordeal once you're fully recovered.
When you pray, be sure to thank God for that amazing woman who is your wife.

Hey Glitch, your little dance with the Grim Reaper sure has brought a lot of folks together. You know, you and Lou Usher share a piece of real estate now? Good to have you back!
