My Fieldsheer stuff, after 7 years, has been retired. Looking at Klim gear at the local metric shop - seems to be outstanding construction, they have on-site (factory) rebuilding facilities if you have a get-off so you don't have to buy new gear, fits me nice, seems extremely well-made...

Anybody used the stuff? It's a salty buy-in, but if it survives as well as it appears to be built...it could be well worth it.

Here's a review of some of their stuff from a few years ago at webbikeworld:

I think you're on the right track. Klim is expensive but it's also top notch. I have some Aerostich stuff which is also pricey but well made. I've always said that nobody regrets buying quality.

Yeah, I'm not afraid to pony up for quality. I just wanted to make sure the quality was real, and not just a sales pitch : ) Figured asking badweb was a good research tool...

Another vote for Aerostitch..., which may not be what you wanted to hear. With Vanson moving most (if not all) of their work overseas, Aerostitch is probably the last producer of motorcycling gear left in the U.S.

Currently wearing a Road Crafter 2 piece during the fall/winter/spring commute here in the Puget Sound area, and it's the best gear I've ever owned. Dry, period.

Nothing against Klim, but if you're looking at new gear and are willing to pay for quality stuff, Aerostitch is worth the look.

Ride Safe.

Over the years I've had gear from Motoport, The original Buell Adventure Suit, Fieldsheer, Tourmaster, Olympia, Firstgear and finally Aerostich. I bought an Aerostich Darien jacket after I realized that I knew people who had owned the same Aerostich during the time when I'd gone through all the previous brands combined. If I had bought a Darien jacket and pants back in 1998, I would have saved a lot of money in the long run, and I would have been wearing a better quality piece of equipment.
Plus, they stand behind their product, and have repair facilities in Duluth at their factory.
I have to throw my vote in with Aerostich. (even though you didn't ask about them)

Bought a pair of Klim summer pants prior to the Little Switzerland ride this year- they're well made, well designed, comfy... my friends at Dual Sport Touring sold them to me.

If you have more ???'s Joe, give Francois/Megan a call- 865-995-9505, and check out their website-

Not familiar with Klim, but I will give another unsolicited vote for Aerostich. I picked up their one piece Roadcrafter suits at their factory. Right after that I was thrilled to have it. I did a whole day of riding in sleet following Lake Superior and over the Mac. Bridge. I did have to put some chemical hand warmers in my gloves, but other than that I stayed remarkably comfortable and dry. I've also worn it in the summer with nothing but a T-shirt and shorts underneath. If you are moving it ventilates quite well. If you find similar testimonials about the Klim, you will probably be happy with that too. A good suit has a lot of detail that makes them cost $$$.

I had considered Klims but read several bad reviews on ADV. Saving my shekels for something Aerostitch.

I bought a KLIM Latitude Jacket this summer to replace a 10 year old bargain basement joe-rocket.

It fits like I've worn it in for years. The waterproofing kept me dry in a 3 hour torrential downpour. The ventilation system provided near-mesh like levels of ventilation.

I am very happy with it.

Many people are happy with their aerostitches too, but to me they look a little.....dated?

Dated? When I stopped for lunch in Marquette, MI was was asked if I was air/sea rescue, not if I used to be!

"... but to me they look a little.....dated?"

Those prices are definitely not Aerostitch; besides, dress for the slide, not for the ride - - and I could totally rock that Ascot.

Sorry for the hi-jack, but hey, you posted on the Quick Board, anything's game. . .

First ride today, love em! Temps right around freezing, Levis underneath, Sidi touring boots, gerbings jacket liner, Buell outer jacket, alpinstar gloves. Toasty warm. Excellent mobility in the Klim, both seated and standing/walking. Mount/dismount are very natural. Good fit, no parachuting, excellent pocket locations (mid thigh, so nothing scrunches into your hip when seated). Pads are nicely located right out of the box, no adjusting needed. I have a 34" inseam so I got the "tall" and they stayed over my boots very nicely. We'll see how they hold up but thus far? I love em!
