Some of these would be scary to ride.

Some? would be scary. I think most would be. Of course some of them aren't rideable at all.

That top bike...the black Gunbus seemed like a cool bike that was designed to be ridden but I've yet to see it in motion.

A Honda CBX is weird but the BMW 1600 isn't? I can think of a few others (anything from Arlen Ness, for one) that should be on the list.

How bout the Gurney Gator? Or several of the Elf racing designs?

I'd love to have a Gator, a GTS1000 Yamaha, or a Feuling W3 motored chopper...

This could be a funnin' thread!

Sometimes I take a look at an issue of "The Horse" magazine- a while back they showcased a chopped V65 Magna, looked like a Decepticon just rode into town.
The only thing that made it legal was the headstock section with the OEM serial number.

I'd LOVE to see it in person.

Elf had some quirky but cool racebikes.

...or these:

My favorite:

Michael Cyz (aint gonna spel that last name right) also has built some incredible bikes- the technology he's invented is quite notable too.

That "Mystery" Kaw has a fairing built around a Vetter Quicksilver fairing- noticed that, I once owned a BMW R65 with one as a factory option.

Weird bikes? Barber has plenty. Need to make it back there next year, hopefully around Vintage Days!

I thought this bike was bizarre enough to look up. Then I found out it was ultra bizarre!

Just noticed the Rokon- I've always wanted to try out one of those!

I know a guy, R. K. Stratman, who has an old panhead dressed out with an entire bison skin AND head. Something to see for sure!

Stratman and his wife used to come spend a fair amount of time hanging out with my old boss at Smoky Mountain HD/BUELL- they have been the main T-shirt printer for the dealer (IIRC and several others) for some time now.

Bet they've got more money than God by now.

More pics, phleeze!

I feel fairly certain that the top one uses two cylinders from a radial aircraft engine. But I'm too lazy to get my books of aircraft engines out to see.

Surprised no one mentioned this monstrosity either:

Update: No one mentioned it because it is in the original article that was posted. D'OH!!!

Update2: Damn. And I see "Big Toe" was also in that original article. How did I miss that??

According to some quick Google searches, the Gunbus engine consists of two cylinders from a nine cylinder radial aircraft engine. I couldn't find out WHOSE "nine-cylinder radial aircraft engine" sacrificed two cylinders for this project, though.

Yeah, the #24 bike has Buell parts...

But a CBX doesn't belong in that group at all. The BiMoTa either (although that one is getting closer.)

#27 the Roadog by Wild Bill Gelbke is THE Antithisis of Buells I think. I almost bought the "GrassHopper" a couple years ago...ya know the old saying "you'll only regret the things you don't do(well I wish I wouda)" but hay at least I got to ride the Auto4. (ive ridden baggers that handle worse) The grasshopper has a corvair opposed four (or 6) and on the transmission he made a shoe box sized contraption that converts a H shaped shift pattern to a up-down motorcycle shift pattern. He built and sold about 4 Auto4s and the Grasshopper was the next generation he was going to produce. I was told that he never registered it because the day he went to, the line was to long at the DMV. Shortly after he was shot by the cops in a domestic dispute.

Holy Crap- that thing made me remember the Amazonas- a VW-motored bike, IIRC made somewhere in South America.

Took the time to read the review- ROFLMAO!!!

The French produced a car engined bike, I've seen a few of them over the years.

Another interesting piece of kit is the Monotracer. a cabin motorcycle.

I've seen a few in switzerland, very impressive.
