Auction #1 for the "Get Glitch Better" auction... a well used and well loved Lee single stage reloading kit.

This kit has reloaded MANY rounds of pistol and rifle. The weak links have been replaced (a handle coupling that Lee later upgraded has been upgraded) and the powder measure is nicely broken in with a good coating of graphite over everything (which takes forever and makes the scale work great).

Ive reloaded everything from .32 acp to 30/06 and .308 with this press. Works great.

Dies not included, wood bases not included unless the auction price ends up high enough to justify the costs of shipping 10 pounds of scrap lumber along with the parts. : )

First, here is the whole setup. You get everything you see:

everything

Here are the details...

The press is an older (I'd say better) Challenger model I think. It is the "O" shaped one, which is important, as the "C" shaped one can explode into two pieces when trying to resize military .308 cases (DAMHIK). This one hasn't exploded even once. : ). It includes the upgraded handle linkage (all steel from Lee, the origional plastic linkage would break when trying to resize 30/06 military cartridges, DAMHIKTE). This is the thread in version, not the newer "breach" version. Takes a little longer to switch and dial in die positions, but you don't have to buy collars for each die.

press

The powder measure is the lee measure. Don't let the plastic construction fool you, I have tried this and the $150 "good" RCBS and others, and this measures as good as any of them, and better than most of them. It even works OK with Unique, which is a notoriously hard to measure powder. Consistent and accurate throws, and a nice "twist to shut off" feature so you can lift the top off to pour back into the powder keg without having to unbolt the measure (something the expensive measures never managed to figure out).

measure

Next is the hand primer. You can install primers on the press just fine, but it is much easier to do them with this hand tool. This may or may not have been the hand primer that was being used while kid #2 was with me watching a really scary part of a really scary movie when a primer being seated went off. Poor kid had to be peeled off the ceiling. That was the only time that happened in many thousands of rounds through the thing, so don't worry, but always keep it pointed in a safe direction when priming.

It even includes the full set of Lee primer bases for just about any cartridge.

handprimer

Next is the powder scale. Slow to use and fussy to make sure it is level and there isn't a breeze on it, but it is stupid accurate. It works fine if you aren't in a hurry, and if you are the winner I'll point you to a good eBay digital scale for under $40 that works well also that will compliment this one so you can have both analog and digital double checks and cross calibrations.

scale

Finally you also get the Lee Modern Reloading guide. I think this one was copyright 1996, there are newer ones out there, but with each version loads come and go so it's nice to have the old version kicking around as well, and it's pretty comprehensive. These days you can get pet loads off the web directly from the manufacturer as well, so the basic instructions and dimensions this book provides are what you really want. The first 3rd of the book walks you through the reloading process and it is written by a master of the art.

manual

Lee stuff is cheaper stuff, but after using RCBS and Dillon (whenever i want it), I keep coming back to the Lee stuff because it works better for me, and I admire it's simplicity and elegance.

This does not include dies, you will need to buy the caliber you want, the primers you need, the bullets you need, and the powder you need. You probably have brass from the range to reuse. The dies should come with the shell base, if not they are $4 or something from Lee.

If you need .45 ACP or .380 ACP, I have RCBS dies I am getting ready to put on ebay, I will wait until this auction closes, so if you can use those calibers we can reach a separate deal for a fair price based on ebay current "sold" prices.

Auction opens... now! We will run it until next Friday, closing at 11pm Eastern Time. Kristi will resolve any disputes and I will abide by her decisions.

I'll pay shipping. If it sells cheap and you want the lumber, you will need to kick in another $10 to cover the cost of that, or I'll take it off and you can go hack up your own 2x4's.

Happy bidding!

Oh, the primer setup handles both small and larg primers for both pistol and rifle, all the parts are there. The measure will do fine from 2.8 grains of bullseye for .32 acp all the way up to 30+ grains of IMR4196 for .308.

Keep the lumber $50 for the primer auto prime and the Lee book only, that lee hand primer is the Fagizzl over the new one!

Wow does THAT bring back memories. I helped design that powder scale. Designed, machined and built the mold for it back around 2007-2008 IIRC.

Very cool Steve! If you want to measure the weight of a fart in church, that scale is the bees knees.

Swampy, thanks!

I was thinking it gets sold as a lot, so anyone wanting to buy the whole set has first dibs, but if there isn't interest in the whole package I'll be happy to parcel it out.

I don't have any idea what this stuff is worth, so hopefully I'm not insulting you...

I'll go $100.00

Not insulted in the least!

Current "good deal new" on this stuff is probably $120 or so for the starter kit, but that doesn't include all the primer tool bases or hand primer tool, so you could probably pretty much buy this setup new off the shelf for under $200.

But doing it this way every penny goes to a friend to get better. : )

Congrats Pwnzor! Work out payment with Ulywife, email me a shipping address, and I'll start scaring up boxes and digging up any spare odds and ends I might have for it.

Thanks for supporting Glitch Matt!

I also have a couple of die sets that would work well with a single stage press. .380 Hornady, and RCBS .45 ACP. Email me directly before I ship if you have any interest in those.

I've never reloaded my own ammo, but I intend to learn. My weapons are all .357, 7.62x39, .223, .45, .22, and .380.

I will take whatever you think I will need, and throw the appropriate additional funds on it.

Get well, Glitch!

This was shipped. Enjoy Pwnzor, post up a thread when you set it up and let us know how it's going. Its a really fun hobby... it takes enough concentration that it takes your mind off real problems, but not so much concentration that it feels like work.

And when you do it, somewhere deep in your reptilian brain stem, endorphins are released because you are now a little more ready to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Package received!

Probably won't set it up until after the new year, with the house being remodeled and all...

Thanks for the fast shipping, and I promise this weekend I will post something for sale to help Glitch out some more!
