So I was just looking at our local dealer's website. They are claiming a $2K factory rebate. 1190RX for $16,995! 1190SX for $14,995! That makes them quite competitive with some lesser bikes! Just in case anyone is on the fence.

Tom, I believe the RX rebate ended last month, but the SX rebate goes through the end of this month. It is a pretty sweet deal.

I didn't even know this was going on. I was thinking that '15 might be time to get a Ducati Monster. No doubt there will be some lightly used 1200 models that come available. I was thinking the 821 might be the Goldilocks bike though. Every review seems to mention the mount for the pillion pegs being in the way of your heals though, for the 1200 and the 821. So I swung by the shop after voting Tuesday, and pulled into the parking lot with those on my mind. A funny thing happened just then. They always have demo bikes parked in front of the shop, and I mindlessly scanned the bikes. It was the first time seeing the 1190SX without being prepared to see it. I have to say that it really caught my eye in a great way. In my mind though, I knew the EBR cost more than the Monster 1200, and that made the 821 seem like a bargain. I was on a Ducati mission.

I was surprised to find that they already had the 821 in stock. Great bike, right up to the point that you try to put a foot on the foot peg. Who the hell put that rear peg mount right there! It flat out SUCKS! I'm destroyed. I was immediately looking at how neatly the rear pegs could be surgically removed. Pretty easy for the left side, but on the right side, that's also the muffler mount and the muffler is still going to be right there too. IMO, the magazines have been kind to Ducati on this point. It's bad enough that they produced the 1200 like this. But to then build another bike with the exact same problem!??

And no new triumph using the 800 triple from the Tiger. I'm crushed!

So I came home and was checking out the dealers website and saw the EBR rebate. It's still way more bike than I really even want, but with that price break, that would be an easier compromise than Ducati's horrible foot peg arrangement. I'm still not ready to drop close to $15K on a naked bike though. But at that price, it's smokin' the Monster 1200 IMO.

I'm thinking I'm going to keep what I have next year and keep stacking my nickels and dimes. Maybe in '16 someone will be selling their lightly used EBR. But I figured if I didn't know about the rebate, a serious buyer may not have either. Figured it might be worth mentioning.

Ducati should still know better.

Hah! Tom, well said.

I'd be funnin' to even think about purchasing a new bike- but if I had to, no doubt it'd be an EBR. Just for sheer love and purity of design, and character.
Maybe it'd be too much bike for me- like a hermit crab, I'd find a way to grow into it.

I'd like to live life briefly with the luxury of picking out, a new, fresh to me, 0 mileage machine, with warranty and decent aftermarket support if possible.
Whoops, already did that when I bought my '05 XB9SX, and then put 43K miles on it.

Still rooting for Motus!

I'm OK with the '02 Sprint ST and '77 R75/7 for now. ; )
