Coffee is a vice I also am unwilling to give up but I am just a two to three cup a day chick. My doctor gave me the ok to drink one cup a day when I was pregnant with our son so I did not have to contend with caffeine withdrawal headaches on top of the other discomforts.

Our coffee consumption has increased since we moved to a cooler climate so we also do coffee on the cheap. If we find it on sale, we can get a canister of Yuban dark roast (from California) for $6 or $7 bucks. That usually holds us over for the better part of a month.

For a special treat on a cool afternoon, or a one cup to go while running out the door, I will brew a cup of Cafe Bustelo espresso in our oldy-but-goody Salton three for all machine. We have had the Salton for at least ten years, and will be sad when it no longer works.

We use a french press in a pinch...while camping or when power is out.

This may be a little odd, but our cat loves to drink a little coffee so any new cup we acquire needs to accommodate her furry little head. Does anyone else have a pet that likes to share coffee?

Ummm, yeah, kinda.

I once had two hand-raised female cockatiels, and they generally would love to join me at the dinner table- they would eat anything, including chicken or whatever.
My breakfast routine forever has been basically a bowl of cereal and several cups of coffee- back then, I'd also enjoy a Krispy Kreme basic glazed doughnut with my coffee. When I first let the birds try doughnut dipped in coffee, they'd chow down on it ravenously until I pulled it away...

One morning was getting things going, and the birds were at their usual roost positions in the kitchen, when I noticed one of them acting strange- she was kinda jittery, seemed anxious watching me get the coffee going. Then I began thinking about what that doughnut soaked in coffee was doing to their little bird metabolisms...
all that sugar, fat and caffeine...

I gave up the doughnuts.

I was just down at the local Tim Horton's to "resupply" when I noticed they now sell a "Dark Roast." Okay, picked up a bag after trying a cup. Pretty good stuff!

Yeah, I tried the new Dark Roast, tastes ok but not enough kick for me. One of their double espressos just hits the spot though.

Trouble is I can't not buy a donut (or two) at the same time.

I drink "Timmy's" for the flavor. If I want a "Kick" I have a bag of "Wake the F*** Up" coffee in the pantry. : p

Mr. Grumpy,
If yer pinin' fer a good arabica French coffee, I just got a hefty shipment of Carte Noire
shipped from France via Amazon.

I also just bought a Chemex and filters. The Carte Noire is perfect through a filter, but ground too fine for a French Press (too much silt).

I'm way down on coffee consumption (replaced with Barry's tea), so a good cup of coffee is worth the effort for me.

Carte Noir isn't bad at all, didn't know Amazon shipped coffee, I'll have to check that out.

What filters do you use? I generally get Melitta if I can.

We like to keep it simple Eight O'Clock, Colombian coffee made in a Krup coffee maker, I mean the old fashioned kind with the electronics confined to an on/off switch.

Apparently the Krup coffee maker has developed a niche following. Broke the carafe and it cost $60 to replace, that seemed outrageous and went looking for a replacement for the whole coffee maker - $1500 on e-bay

Ran into a rider from Vermont who gave me a bag of Vermont coffee - Very good, if we blunder on to it again we will buy some but not good enough to go out of our way to find

Had a look on Amazon, they only do Grand-Mere in Tassimo capsules.

I have one of the Krups machines that does Espresso one side & filter the other. I love the filter side but I'm now the only one in the house drinking fresh coffee so I just use my $10 Walmart one cup filter machine.

It's funny the way this thread has gone. I posted the original post both here and over on Wild Guzzi, and after reading the various responses, I've come to these conclusions.
I'm doing it all wrong! I'm buying my beans (usually) at Starbucks, I use a Krups spinning blade grinder and I brew it in a Mister Coffee coffee maker.
Oh! The shame of it all!
But; ya know what? I like it, and friends who have coffee at my place like it. I have one friend who tells me it's the best coffee she's ever tasted. I guess my friends have no taste when it comes to coffee, either.
I'm sitting here typing this and drinking a cup of the blended Kenya. It tastes pretty good to me. Once the Mamuto AA beans run out, I'll go back to drinking coffee made from just Starbucks beans and I'll enjoy that.
It's fun, though to see how different people like their coffee. This coffee thread has gotten the same mixed opinions on both forums, and it's almost as good as an oil thread. Thanks, guys.

Can't get away from Puerto Rican coffee. I have it shipped to me since I was introduced to it while working there. Yaucono is a favorite brand. Rich without being bitter. Problem is I can't get it in K-cups. Have to brew it the old fashioned way.

Freddie, you can get the reusable K-cup, and use any coffee you like.

For reusable K cups, you can't beat "Cafe Cups". Far, far better design than any other.

Available at Dollar General, and on line. You get four (4) for around $10.00. I have been using them for quite some time.

I used a piece of 4" pvc and a used muffin fan to make a drier. (Sort of the same principle as a helmet drier) I put the cups in the drier with the coffee still in them. By next morning, the coffee is dry and can be dumped out, and easily rinsed.
