I asked on this thread a couple of weeks ago about 0bama's use of ISIL instead of ISIS, and expressed my understanding that it is meant as an "insult" to Israel, but confessed I really didn't know precisely why.

Turns out I was right:

quote:

ISIS vs. ISIL: Why Obama stands alone
What’s behind the choice of name of Mideast terror group?
WND.com, Sep 11, 2014

WASHINGTON – President Obama may have had a difficult time formulating a strategy to deal with the ISIS crisis, yet he alone has been almost obsessively resolute in referring to the group as “ISIL.”

In some of Obama’s briefings on ISIS, he has gone so far as to spell out ISIL.

Puzzling to reporters and pundits, the use of ISIL by Obama has prompted a bevy of theories.

ISIS was the original name of the al-Qaida offshoot. It’s an acronym that stands for Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. But, months ago, ISIS changed its name to ISIL – the Islamic State in the Levant. More recently, ISIS chose to be known simply as Islamic State.

Most news organizations, pundits and policymakers chose to stick with ISIS, perhaps to discourage the ISIS shell game of frequent name changes. Obama, though, has stuck with ISIL.

...Fox News’ Harris Faulkner suggests Obama is “tipping his hat” to ISIS by calling it ISIL.

“Levant is a bigger territory,” she said. “That’s why they want to embrace that name, and it includes many, many more countries than just Syria.”

...[And] Allen West points out:

quote:

“First, if you choose to refer to this group as ISIL, you have basically rewritten the map of the Middle East and fallen into the trap of not recognizing the existence of Israel and also Lebanon,” West wrote on his blog. “If you use ISIL, you are then validating the Islamic totalitarian and jihadist claim that the modern-day Jewish state of Israel is an occupation state and does not exist in the eyes of Muslims.”

The idea that Obama is disrespecting Israel by adopting the name ISIL has been popular. Indeed, the use of the term Levant by Islamic militants in the past has been motivated precisely by their ambitions for taking over the Jewish state.

Start around the 4:25 mark; Dneash addresses Obama's plan for the middle east. His opinions about this matter seem legitimate. His "2016" movie addresses this in greater detail.

I have a copy of "2016," but it's been two years (i.e., just after it was released) since I've watched it. I need to revisit it.

Here's a link for the video above...

taqiyya is misunderstood by most of us westerners, and by most muslims.

According to the qran, taqiyya (which is not even named by that name) is only for muslims who are being persecuted, to allow them a method of escape, by falsely proclaiming that they are not muslims.

It is cowardice in the purest form.

However, most muslims don't even know their own qran well enough to tell you what it says about taqiyya. It is widely taught, and accepted as a means to deceive disbelievers. Thus it has become what most westerners understand it to be... whereas it began as regular ol' cowardice.

Regarding the comments above - yes, Obama is certainly happy to defend Islam, and try to emphasize its (imaginary) virtues. And more than willing to speak against Christianity and Christian values.

you have to wait through the usual Obama blunders in this video, but it portrays just how anti-Christian, and how pro-islam he is.

Lies, lies, lies. He's rewriting history to include islam as the foundation of America, as the reason for the success of the west.

Such a blatant travesty.

Only those who choose to ignore truth could support anything that he stands for.

The deception as allowed by the Prophet was because a buddy of his found himself behind enemy lines and lied his head off to stay alive......which was a kill him offense by the Prophet's own law.

So he changed the law. Then extended it to allow lying about your faith if it helped conquer the infidel.

It was later mullahs that changed the rule to the currently widely accepted lie to infidel good rule. Islam is comprehensive...... (OCD) so if it is allowed it is mandatory.

The other religion that makes The Lie a blessing/mandate are the Marxist cults.

So Barack Obama, raised in both religions ( seriously.......did ANYONE else read his biographies? ) has zero moral reason to tell anyone the truth.

Barry says he converted from Islam to his current Faith. That means he is either lying ( I don't think so ) which is acceptable by the Prophet. Or he is apostate and thus automatically under sentence of death. In theory anyone can kill him legally. In practice WE have laws making the serious discussion of that illegal.

So don't get any ideas that I just gave you permission.

A cynical sort would conclude from the lack of daily calls for Obama's execution that his deception is accepted by the majority of murder cult leaders as fact.

But hold the phone. John Kerry is saying that “war” is the wrong analogy? Really? It is okay to analogize the fights against poverty, cancer, climate change etc., to war, but we can’t analogize sustained bombing campaigns with coordinated ground offensives to it? Oh my stars and garters. It’s like the effort to get rid of the Islamic State is the Moral Equivalent of Pension Reform.

It gets worse. Olivier Knox of Yahoo News asked White House press secretary Josh Earnest, “What does victory [in the fight against the Islamic State] look like here?”

Earnest earnestly replied, “I didn’t bring my Webster’s dictionary with me up here.” Meanwhile, the disconnect between names and things has gotten to the point where a senior administration official thinks Saudi Arabia is “galvanized” against the Islamic State because it has an “extensive border with Syria.” Except for the fact that it doesn’t, this is a very powerful point. So much for Mark Twain’s observation that “God created war so that Americans would learn geography.”

Of course, the administration is simply following the president’s lead. Given how rabid Kerry, Hagel, and others were just a few weeks ago, it’s pretty obvious that Obama has told his team “opstay ayingsay arway.” In his heart the president just doesn’t like words like “war” or “win.” That’s why he “ended” the Iraq War. That’s why when asked to explain what “destroy” means he said it meant to reduce to a manageable problem. That’s why the administration keeps talking about mitigation. That’s why they long ago replaced the “War on Terror” with “overseas contingency operations” and rogue states with “states of concern.” Hey, maybe we should just start calling it “the Islamic State of Concern”?

Joe Biden: There are negotiations being made that are going to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems. That’s all I can tell you right now. Valerie, you grew up in Iran. When we make our move there you’re going to be my right-hand man, no offense. Barack Obama is no longer on the 2012 ticket. He’s going to be my first Supreme Court nominee. That’s no reflection on Barry, it’s just the way I want it. Besides, if I ever need help who’s a better Consiglieri than Bill Clinton? That’s it.

[Everyone except Obama leaves. Bill Clinton emerges from a shadow.]

Barack Obama: Joe, why am I out?

Biden: You’re not a wartime president, Barry. Things could get rough with the move we’re making.

Bill Clinton: Barry, I advised Joe. I never thought you were a bad president. I thought Hillary was a bad secretary of State, may she someday rest in peace real soon — you know what I mean, fellas? Ha, just kidding, just kidding. Joe has all my confidence as do you. But there are reasons why you must have nothing to do with what’s going to happen.

Obama: [Pleading] Maybe I could help.

Biden: You’re out, Barry.

Benghazi Bombshell: Clinton State Department Official Reveals Details of Alleged Document Review
Sharyl Attkisson / September 15, 2014

As the House Select Committee on Benghazi prepares for its first hearing this week, a former State Department diplomat is coming forward with a startling allegation: Hillary Clinton confidants were part of an operation to “separate” damaging documents before they were turned over to the Accountability Review Board investigating security lapses surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya.

According to former Deputy Assistant Secretary Raymond Maxwell, the after-hours session took place over a weekend in a basement operations-type center at State Department headquarters in Washington, D.C. This is the first time Maxwell has publicly come forward with the story.

At the time, Maxwell was a leader in the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), which was charged with collecting emails and documents relevant to the Benghazi probe.

Raymond Maxwell, former State Dept. Deputy Assistant Secretary (Photo: Sharyl Attkisson)

“I was not invited to that after-hours endeavor, but I heard about it and decided to check it out on a Sunday afternoon,” says Maxwell.

He didn’t know it then, but Maxwell would ultimately become one of four State Department officials singled out for discipline—he says scapegoated—then later cleared for devastating security lapses leading up to the attacks. Four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were murdered during the Benghazi attacks.

...Maxwell says he has been privately interviewed by several members of Congress in recent months, including Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, and Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, a member of the House Oversight Committee.

When reached for comment, Chaffetz told me that Maxwell’s allegations “go to the heart of the integrity of the State Department.”

quote:

“The allegations are as serious as it gets, and it’s something we have obviously followed up and pursued,” Chaffetz says. “I’m 100 percent confident the Benghazi Select Committee is going to dive deep on that issue.”

...Maxwell, 58, strongly supported Barack Obama and personally contributed to his presidential campaign. But post-Benghazi, he has soured on both Obama and Clinton, saying he had nothing to do with security and was sacrificed as a scapegoat while higher-up officials directly responsible escaped discipline. He spent a year on paid administrative leave with no official charge ever levied. Ultimately, the State Department cleared Maxwell of wrongdoing and reinstated him. He retired a short time later in November 2013.

Maxwell worked in foreign service for 21 years as the well-respected deputy assistant secretary for Maghreb Affairs in the Near East Bureau and former chief of staff to the ambassador in Baghdad. Fluent in Portuguese, Maxwell is also an ex-Navy “mustanger,” which means he successfully made the leap from enlisted ranks to commissioned officer.

...Several weeks after he was placed on leave with no formal accusations, Maxwell made an appointment to address his status with a State Department ombudsman.

“She told me, ‘You are taking this all too personally, Raymond. It is not about you,’” Maxwell says.

“I told her that ‘My name is on TV and I’m on administrative leave, it seems like it’s about me.’ Then she said, ‘You’re not harmed, you’re still getting paid. Don’t watch TV. Take your wife on a cruise. It’s not about you; it’s about Hillary and 2016."

Select Committee On Benghazi First Public Hearing Scheduled For This Week – A Note Of Caution
Posted on September 15, 2014 by sundance

The House Select Committee on Benghazi is set to hold its first public hearing this week on September 17th.

However, a note of caution should be added not to expect too much “substance” as an outcome.

As most readers are now aware the Benghazi FUBAR is essentially two-thirds a result of bad policy, and one-third a result of terrible decisions as a result of that bad policy. To date nothing has surfaced to undermine the essential research we have shared within the Benghazi Brief [see link below].

Actually, to the contrary “The Brief” has withstood relentless scrutiny. Unfortunately that also means Trey Gowdy will be hard pressed to deliver sunlight to the construct because most, if not all, of the flaws are within the intelligence aspects.

The State Department and the CIA are the two entities most at risk from any sunlight.

And, as we are painfully aware, the State Department leadership is a tight circle of like-minded ideologues not expected to break ranks with the White House.

Similarly the CIA is now under the tight control of John Brennan – so we should not look for any internal revelations, at least publicly.

...We all know the ARB report was entirely designed by political operatives in defense of the administration. If the current approach is to look critically at the execution of the “ARB Recommendations”, the hearings will likely focus on the failure to secure the outpost – and the proposals to insure it doesn’t happen again. Neither of which are targeted to the actual framework of the covert policy itself.

In fact . . . there is a long history going back to her days in law school (when she was fired for ethical violations) and immediately after.

She's a woman on a mission . . . intent on proving something and had no compunctions about letting legality or ethics interfere.

She's a very smart, very dangerous person who could care less about how it impacts others . . . . quoting her with regard to the horrid deaths of 4 Americans . . . "what difference does it make"? To her . . .none.

She's the only broke person I know who owns several multi-million $$ homes . . . shame her book sales are so poor . . that'd help some.

Time for the Devil's Advocate.
I'm naturally predisposed to believe Mr. Maxwell, but we must accept the possibility he's lying.

Let's assume he's telling the truth; What's the chance he'd have gone public without a guarantee of safety?

If I were in his place, I know what I'd want to do, but without some top cover I'd have been hesitant. I'll take chances where broken bones may be the worst consequence, but in the Big Leagues where this went down, they play for keeps.

Remember Vince Foster?

Safe bet some very powerful folks affiliated with the (D) party aren't fans of Hillary. No one in the (R) camp can shield Mr. Maxwell from the inevitable attacks on his career and character.

Do y'all remember the fire that happened at the State Department in the office directly above Hillary's? This occurred about the same time that former Deputy Assistant Secretary Maxwell says that documents potentially damaging to Hillary were being "separated" before being handed over to the ARB.

Nah, you're right, probably not related...
