I already posted this in the Racing forum, but I thought it should be cross-posted and shouted from the highest mountain tops!

Thank heavens for that. DMG really schmeared it around enough to be pretty much unrecognizable for a fan (and probably a competitor as well). Alignment with the FIM structures would be a plus.

Of course: "The company will continue to sanction AMA Pro Flat Track, Motocross and Hillclimb."
Translation: "DMG still reserves the right to continue to screw up the rest of the motorcycling competitive world in the US."

Funny thing is Flat track racing has grown since they bought it. Don't know about motocross and hillclimbing has from what I hear actually grew. I think they all will be sold and probably not to the same outfit.

DMG can "grok" flat track. After all, it takes place on an oval, and everyone just makes left turns...

I enjoy telling my co-workers that "real" racers drive in the rain (unlike those NASCAR Pu**ies), and point out that the MotoGP race at Indy in '09 was run in a hurricane, and the only reason they cut it a bit short was because of debris blowing across the track!

There was a wonderful meme that (of course) I can't find. I'm sure it was posted here at one time.

It was a photo from that Indianapolis race, and it said: "NASCAR cancels races due to rain? How CUTE!"

I'm sure someone with Jedi Search Skills will be able to find it.

Rain tires don't work on oval tracks, too much force on the right front tire. They'd have to go so slow for the tire to survive the 100,000 fans in the stands would be bored as well as miserable sitting in the rain for hours.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

So the "other-than-oval" races _should_ be run in the rain?

\iSo the "other-than-oval" races _should_ be run in the rain?}

Nationwide Series and Truck Series road race in the rain.
This year at Road America they ran in the rain, and the Trucks just last week were prepared for rain that never came at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Sprint Cup doesn't, not sure why other than it's not very good racing.

Dirt tracks don't race in rain and probably rain out more than paved ovals. Too much water and the clay surface turns to slop. The racing sucks, cars are slow and the material that makes up the racing surface (clay) ends up getting sprayed off the track.

Motocross and enduros take place in the rain. And for some SICK reason, the competitors seem to prefer it, too!
