The point of the retort, which you obviously missed, was that if you were going to bomb the crap out of a target to cover the 'death ray', why use the 'death ray' in the first place? Bombs are pretty effective. More so than a laser that was designed to HEAT up ICBMs and cause their guidance systems to fail, not blow them our of the sky in a dramatic explosion. One of the reasons the US didn't adopt this solution is that it was only effective in boost phase. Once an ICBM goes ballistic, heating them up doesn't do shiza. Also...what is illegal about using lasers? I know of no treaty that forbids their use, nor any condemnation by the UN, or similar body. You are posting evidence of huge laser systems that can be installed on a large ship, that have enough power to over heat delicate electronics, and possibly damage thin sheets of aluminum to support the idea that they are currently using a MUCH more powerful laser mounted in an aircraft. 1) Lasers don't curve 2) The lasers in question would be infrared, invisible to the eye 3) The images are clearly long exposures of rocket/missile strikes.  2 and 3 are no brainers. The first point got me to put a straight piece of paper next to the "laser beam". The arc is slight, but it is consistent. If the arc was distortion from a cheap lens it would be worse at the edge of the pic. | ||

According to my father, who worked at Boeing for 35 years selling weapon systems to the Navy and Air Force, another reason the ABL wasn't pursued is that Boeing figured out that all you had to do to defeat the laser was to polish the exterior of the ICBM. Most of the energy got reflected when they tested this, rendering their new toy useless. | ||

It's actually really hard to kill anything that isn't an eyeball (either biologically or electronically) with a laser. Which is why you don't see a lot of laser killing things around. Believe me, if it were easy, I would have one. I worked hard enough as it was to finally put together a laser that would pop a black balloon from 5 feet. But then I am easily amused. A highly reflective surface would be incredibly effective as "laser armor". | ||

 keeping in mind the material has to be a mirror for the frequency of the laser then yes, the Liberace vest works. The tricky part is painting it with a thin layer of sacrificial paint for visual camo. There are treaties against using lasers as blinding weapons, which is good. Pity the enemies of civilization feel no reason to obey our laws, which means it's more likely you will be blinded by a sociopathic cultist than your own government. That's also true for poison gas, ( Unless you lived in Iraq, or Syria ) plague, bombs, and throat slitting. It is true it takes a government to really get down and do genocide, like Russia, China, Germany, Cambodia, etc. ( all "socialist" regimes, btw ) ISIS seems to be working it's way into the big leagues of genocidal States. What I should have said, the weapon was said to have been given illegally, to Israel from the U.S. The 'death ray' I would suggest the implication if true, were they're 'testing' it on Gaza guinea pigs. Sorry Rocket we've lost jobs every year since the socialists took Congress back in the Bush the younger regime. When both houses and the Executive went D party more than half the aviation jobs went away as they gave perks to the lawyer guilds that bribed them. Same thing happened in England. Just earlier. Is Hawker still making airplanes? The great companies founded by Tommy Sopwith and Chance Vought sure aren't making fighters to save the Empire anymore. Hurricanes Harriers Corsairs and Crusaders......... gone. NASA is now a Muslim outreach program meant to make them feel good about how Islam's science advances. Which ended in the 13th century. Laughable you choose historic wrongdoings of little interest to the current state of world affairs, yet there exist several current examples which are not so adverse to America's interests they don't even get a consideration. Unlike Ukraine which has massive priorities to America's footprint, power and control in Europe, it matters not the cost America is willing to pay to pull Ukraine away from Russia. The cost is not monetary of course. We are talking world order here.
