Joe Wilson, although I concur that it was disrespectful in the venue and setting, was spot on accurate. The pResident didn't mislead . . . he intentionally lied. He's quite well aware of who his base is. They are largely ill educated and uninformed. There are countless examples of interviews outside polling places where folks were certain Romney or Palin was his running mate or that he was a former football player. He knows idiots are easy to lead and unlikely to make a stink about anything. He's gone from basically sloughing his way from a "graduation of convenience" to becoming one of the very wealth he has convinced his base he's fighting. There are, unfortunately many, those who's personal view of life . . . the more shit I can get for free, the better. It's a sad time in American history as we struggle through absent leadership and have become the laughing stock of the world. I keep waiting for him to draw another one of his "red lines" . . . . Israel will go it alone and is unlikely to wait around on this doped up idiot. | ||

"You lie!" is mostly disrespectful in the context. Wilson is certainly welcome to his opinion and he is can express it in the followup commentary as often happens etc. The thing that really bugs me about the healthcare debate is that the argument would be much clearer if we addressed the situation as it existed prior to Obamacare. Seems to me the conservative position would be that you pay for what you get. Obamacare for its many flaws establishes the concept of responsibility to pay at least something (for the majority of citizens at this point). The pre-Obamacare way was that anyone showing up at an ER could get care on the back of the taxpayers. It would be more convincing for the repeal of Obamacare to include wiping clean the laws that mandate (in a similar way as knowing what's best for you) the free ER healthcare. It seems to me that is where the debate about healthcare should begin. Shouldn't we start with the original free care and work from there? And then what people get for free and what and how they pay for more care should flow from that basis. |
