How is the Jeep coming along?

I bought a new Jeep.... well, it will be new by the time I'm done fixing, breaking and fixing again.
The pinion bearings are toast in the frond axle.

I have the Jeep running and driving. I need to change the gears in the 8.8 rear to match the 4.11's in the front. Its mostly complete but haven't had a chance to put a wrench on her since buying the new house. Hopefully when the weather gets better or I get my garage cleaned out.

Sometimes when you go deep.....it is best to NOT be in your Jeep!

But then mine could use a good washing!

I would love to know the story on that one.
How does that happen? I always watch the Jeep in front of me to see what line they use and so on.... If they have 38" tires and get stuck, me and my 33's go around.

Guessing out west and a flash flood. Can't imagine too many people looking at that water and thinking a crossing was a good idea, unless it was in Russia...they will cross it with a big rig and make it!

Dec 2012 I lost my steering shaft lower end while testing(OK.....playing) out in my test grounds/mud pit. It has a 4" diameter rag joint on a 10" long steel shaft. I found it today. Thank goodness not with a mower.

I had a garden a few years back and decided to open it up and till it this year. I plowed and cultivated it with the tractor and was going over it with a rear tine walk behind tiller. WHAM CLUNK! Found it!

That steering shaft wedged between the tiller tines and metal cover housing. I'll take slow rotating tiller tines over a 6' bush hog blade or 6' belly mower finding it!

The Jeep has never missed it. The new one has been much tougher. Hmmmm.....May is coming up soon. Maybe I will shovel some of the clay out of the floors and pressure wash the Jeep by then.

I have been busy with so much other stuff I just realized it has been nearly three years since I washed it! Time to finish up some of the mods I began when we started this thread! No sense in rushing into things.....eh?

Hey, in the fast deep water in the above picture.....is it a front loader tumble wash program?? I would think tumble drying would be even harder on them

I have a confession to make, I bought another grand Cherokee. This one has a 4.7 in it.

Yes yes yes, I know I know, I said I wouldn't but it's solid and was cheap.
Pics when I can find the time.

I am going to wash my Jeep. Not a normal statement from a guy with a mud pit in his back yard. It has been over a year since it was last washed. I'd bet it has not been driven fifteen miles in that time, but is way over due for some maintenance.

The mud inside is over an inch deep.

Oddly enough, I cannot get anyone to ride with me anymore. Sure, they will ride in it when it is clean. I guess they don't like getting that dirty just climbing aboard.

I had to pull the u joint on the right side of my front axle yesterday. Main tool used was a line man's hammer. 12 years and 130,000 miles of rust. All's good today.

Hey Joe, I have a potential buyer for that YJ. Let me check into it, I'll send you an Email when I find out.

Post up a current picture and I will need to know the mileage.

Jeep work is coming back on now. Our local county fair is having a new to them "rock climbing" competition next month. Myself and a few other 4x4 guys somehow got elected to help them figure out how to make a large rock pile out of giant loader tires that are four feet high when laying on their sides.

This should be interesting. They want a course for pickups/jeeps etc. that can run with 31 or 33 inch tires, and a big monster course for 33 inch + Jeeps, Trucks, Truggys, and buggies.

Looks like it is time to finish my shock mounts and reinforcing cross members. Probably have to lock the rear axle gears also.

Well I am going to miss out on helping set up the "Rock Climbing Course" at our county fair because I will be on the Uly in the Alps on the BRP next weekend.

When I get home my spare time will be spent preparing the Jeep for the fair's event, if things time out right I may tote it to the WVBR for a ride in the back forty!

Getting my Jeep ready for the WVBR consists
of putting the hard top back on which I did this evening.

I also added a EBR sticker to the back window.

Well isn't that something! I just composed a list of things I need to do to get my Jeep ready.....ready for anything. The first page is 25 items long with half of those requiring welding, torching, or painting.

I gots a lotta worka du! I started on it tonight.

There is a possibility that I may bring the Jeep without bringing the Uly. It is a matter of towing vehicles and trailers. The big truck still has some expensive issues for long distance use and a trailer that will tote anything I would like to bring. My Suburban will easily tow one or the other but only one will fit on the highway trailer that it can tow.Oh what to do???
