From the about page.....

telecommunications consultant in Europe.

In the 70's I had a dinosaur book

I teach AP Chemistry at a local High School. I have been reading about AGW for four or five years. At first I was worried about sea level rise (I have visited Tuvalu and other low Pacific Islands), but it appears other problems will be bad sooner than sea level rise. I like to SCUBA dive.

He writes basic level rebuttals and occasional blog posts for Skeptical Science, motivated in part by a concern for the environment, and partly as a counter-reaction to the demagoguery and disinformation that pervades the public discourse on climate science. gee, that's why I started this thread

His research interests focus on machine learning

He went on to undertake research on ore genesis and supergene alteration in the metalliferous mining districts of North and Central Wales, leading to an M Phil and a number of key papers. {oh! A real scientist! }

After graduation he worked for several years as a research officer in the Solar Energy research section of the same department. Later he was involved in running several small Engineering/IT companies involved in the Solar and later Automotive industries. Working in Melbourne, Adelaide & China for many years, Glenn & his wife finally made what is known in Australia as a 'TreeChange'; Moved to the country to run a Cafe. Glenn has always had a deep interest in Science for the absolute thrill of it and at times resents the way a planetary emergency forces him to take time away from a damn fine hobby. I agree. Authoritarian rule by Climate Fear takes too much time away from riding

is an environmental scientist at a private environmental consulting firm in the Sacramento, California area.

is an environmental chemist on the faculty at Michigan Tech University

He is one of the two editors of loftslag.is (loftslag meaning climate) and translator of skeptical science articles.

working full time as an IT Security and Infrastructure Manager, Steve is studying part time for a Masters degree in Earth Science. not bad

His current research focus is on modeling the distribution of permafrost in the eastern Canadian sub-Arctic. Previously his work examined the climatic sensitivity of small mountain glaciers in the Torngat Mountains of northern Labrador. I wonder if he's been to Labrador? You know, like the Indian scientist who wrote about Himalayan glaciers without ever doing any actual research...or seeing a glacier

has a BSc in software engineering. He works as a support engineer for a Dutch software firm. In his spare time he writes for his own blog Real Sceptic and volunteers where possible for Skeptical Science.

Rob is an environmentalist, scuba diver, spearfisherman, kayaker and former police officer. Has researched climate science, in an amateur capacity, for 4 years Hmm, I've been researching it since 1977

No bias here at all, huh? I've seen worse.

Pretty good crew for a website that seems to use every fallacious argument in the book.

Like this sweet Straw Man (Fallacy Of Extension)
"There is no actual evidence that carbon dioxide emissions are causing global warming. Note that computer models are just concatenations of calculations you could do on a hand-held calculator, so they are theoretical and cannot be part of any evidence."

I've been tracking the outside temps for the last 5 months and I have bad news guys.

Global warming is real.

At this rate by late next year the seas will boil and life as we know it will be gone from the surface of the Earth.

This public announcement brought to you by FF's understanding of climatology.

I read FastFrancine's first link. http://www.skepticalscience.com/empirical-evidence-for-global-warming.htm Talk about light weight information!

About this graphic...

I wonder if Francine understands what it shows. I wonder if the author understands what it shows. I wonder if either of them would understand what it would show if the graphic included H2O. Someone along the chain probably does understand what it all means. That's without a doubt why H2O was left out of the graphic.

About this graphic...

Why all the ocean heating? I thought we were causing green house gas heating. This shows the ocean is being heated directly. I have my doubts that this chart is even close to accurate. The first problem is actually obtaining data on the total heat content of the entire ocean... Going back to 1962 or so. We can't get that data for today. We could make guestimates. That isn't really very useful when trying to track such small changes though.

I also note that Francine is simply posting links with no comment what so ever. I assume these links are supposed to refute the graphics that have been posted that show actual temperature data for the world for various time periods. I don't really know for sure exactly what points she thinks she's making. Without any comments, it's impossible to know what sort of knowledge he really has on this topic. I have to assume that he came out with what he felt was a link with convincing data and factual arguments. If that assumption is correct, he doesn't know much about climate. I'm skipping further links.

Winter Is Coming for Global Warming: Is Climate Change the Hoax of the Century?

It's pretty simple. The facts don't fit the models. The facts are we live in a world with changing climate, and the trends are not as advertised... so why?

Simple. The Crisis gives control to those who want to control you and your money and your labor and your property and your movement.

It's structured as a Religion because it's based on another Religion ( Progressivism ) which is a ripoff of older ones. ( "It's the Christian thing to do" )

"Climate Change" is the excuse for very very rich people to get richer. Certainly anyone not blinded by Faith in The Religion Of the Minute has noticed that bribing politicians get's you richer, and only the rich can afford to bribe politicians.

It's broader, older and deeper than Barack Hussein Obama, but he's made quite the killing at it, and he's in the position to ignore the law to make his will Dictat.

The price of gas you put in your bike is a direct result of his choice to be anti oil and anti coal to make millions in "Campaign Contributions". The power bill you can't afford if you leave the AC on, the shorter reach of vacations, the jobs lost, the dead third worlders, all are a result of massive bribes....Plus the Power that Crisis can give evil men with a man made Religion to make them immune to criticism.

The tell tale is easy.

1977, The World Is Going To DIE in Ice!
Solution, power & wealth taken from you and given to bureaucrats that you didn't elect, and cannot fire.

1998, The World Is Going To DIE In Fire!
Solution, power & wealth taken from you and given to bureaucrats that you didn't elect, and cannot fire.

2002-2014, The World Is Going To DIE in CHANGE!!!
Solution, power & wealth taken from you and given to bureaucrats that you didn't elect, and cannot fire.

See the pattern?

To be sure if Aliens Invaded Tomorrow, the Solution would be....power & wealth taken from you and given to bureaucrats that you didn't elect, and cannot fire.

Pretty sure this one's been posted before, but I do admire the technology.

Like the Segway was intended to finance the production of advanced stand up wheelchairs, ( no, seriously ) the Biolite is the money generator for production of this technology for third world use.

Millions of people in less developed countries get lung disease from cooking over open fires indoors. So this tech uses an electric fan to get hotter, cleaner burning, using twigs and small pieces of wood.

The heat of the fire is used to make electricity, which runs the fan and can charge USB connected devices.

Freaking brilliant. The last time I recall thermoelectric power for small home use like this was in the 1950's when the Russians made kerosene lamp generators to run tube type radios. Ingenious way to make small, useful, amounts of power where there is no grid. ( like much of Russia in the Soviet era where medieval is a polite way to describe life. )

http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/POWER/thermoele ctric/thermoelectric.htm

Modern uses include radioisotope generators for remote sensing stations and space probes, and there is a lot of interest in reclaiming otherwise lost energy from car exhaust.

I'm seriously thinking about a biolite stove for camping. Make coffee and charge a Kindle?

Where I camp it's hundreds of yards to the nearest power outlet, and they are almost always in use charging other people's toys.

I still have a few Peltier modules I've used as CPU coolers.

And there's always this little application of Maxwell's Demon.

http://www.vortec.com/

I've used these for machining oddball materials where you couldn't use water/oil based coolants. Bit of a waste to cool a beer, but I've done that too.

And the hottest month on record is????

Flexible may be the best answer if you are asking NOAA.

NOAA Reinstates July 1936 As The Hottest Month On Record

“You can’t get any clearer proof of NOAA adjusting past temperatures,” Watts wrote. “This isn’t just some issue with gridding, or anomalies, or method, it is about NOAA not being able to present historical climate information of the United States accurately.”

It is interesting that both July 1936 and July 2012 have both gotten cooler since the first graphic from 2012. I guess you have to keep adjusting history cooler if want to maintain a warming trend.

But they're using hundreds if not thousands of thermometers. Statistically the individual random errors become irrelevant.

Local temps in January were about 32 degrees f. Today 90+. At this rate, 50+ degrees in 6 months, by this time next year the lakes will boil.

That's the Global Warming Way.

Well my point though was that they are even more meaningless because the historical data keeps changing. I can understand that various sources of data may not match exactly. Instrument data that was collected close to a century ago should not change over a two year period without explanation. It just shouldn't happen. It's kind of like losing two years worth of government emails!

Yeah... they can change the 20th century all they want.

It doesn't change the millennia before it.

I have noticed my farts getting warmer, but that is directly related to the chili coefficient.
