The stock battery on my '08 1125 finally crapped out on me, so I ordered the Shorai LFX-18L1. That's the one the shorai website recommended for the 1125.

With the 18L1, the starter was turning sluggishly. I rode it to work three days in a row, and on the third morning, the bike turned over slower than ever, wouldn't start, and had to be charged for ~10 minutes before starting. Checked my charging system, everything was fine. Even after a week of riding every day, the bike still turns over slow and sometimes takes more than one attempt to start.

I called Shorai and spoke with Marianne. I explained the situation and she said something to the effect of,
"Oh yes, I'm very familiar with the Buells. I was with Shawn Higbee while he was racing them. Would you like to talk to him?"

"Shawn's there?"

"Yes, he does Shorai full-time now"...

So, I spoke with Shawn. He suggested I go with the bigger LFX-21L1. He told me to create and RMA on the Shorai website. I did, and Marianne emailed me the next business day. After I verified that the 21L1 would fit, they sent me the larger battery via 2-day air. On their dollar.

The 21L came in, I installed it today, and the bike turns over without a hitch.

The 21L is just slightly smaller than the stock battery, but it only weighs about 3 lbs.

I'd heard mixed reviews about Shorai batteries. But, all in all, I'm very pleased with the folks working at Shorai, and I will purchase from them again in the future.

I bought a Shorai battery for my XB12R this spring. The original lead-acid battery always seemed to have a hard time turning the engine over. The Shorai, on the other hand, cranks the engine with no sign of resistance. Switching to a Shorai has made my bike 9 pounds lighter. I paid a little more, but got a lot better battery.

I have one on my project bike and had one in the R1. I've been happy with the quality. Glad to hear they back it up well.
