So, this happened... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=4062&post=2420109#POST2420109

...and now I have to get it home.

I am thinking of arriving to pick it up on Thurs July 3 and heading straight home, and wanted to know if any of you are located along my route home so that I might have resting / check in points.

Springfield MO, to Chicago - I think that I will keep it as simple as possible and just slab it up 44 to St. Louis, and then take 55 up thru Bloomington and on to home.

Date subject to change, but that's the gist of it.

Login and go to the BRAN section. Might find a few guys there. Not sure how well the list is maintained.

The B.R.A.N. list hasn't been updated in awhile.

Your posting here is the best way to get rest/check in points along the way. Plus, maybe some fellow BadWebbers will want to ride with you along the way. A win for everyone involved.

If it were me, I'd purposely get lost many times along the way, as I don't like maps or interstates.

By the way, bring a 10mm wrench with you.

Tighten your battery cables

I'm in Rolla, about 100 miles north of Springfield on I-44 and half way to St Louis. I have a truck and a ramp if need be, otherwise it's a good gas up and eat point. Send me a message and I'll get you my phone number.

I used uship.com to get a bike I bought off ebay to my home. You can get free quotes on line and figure out what works best for you.

Don, got a kick start '78 Triumph Bobber over the winter. But will be selling it shortly. Got too used to creature comforts of modern bikes.

Have you rode in a Greyhound recently? I did a short trip from Chicago to Indy to pick up a bike and ride it home. I got on the bus in Hammond Indiana but the bus originated in Chicago. There were not many seats available when I got on. Well let me rephrase that. Many of the double seats were consumed by the person sitting in them and I would not fit into the portion remaining. I was able to find an open seat next to a normal sized person. However, it was adjacent to the door to the Head. I cannot even explain how that experience was. On the bright side, the internet access worked almost the entire way.

Rider beware

I used Amtrak to pick up a bike in Burlington Iowa. Half way there from Chicago, the train had to stop because another freight train had derailed. They bussed us the rest of the way. I flew to Pittsburgh to pick up my 1125R and ride home. The flight and trip to the dealer was painless (rented a Limo). Almost the entire ride home was heavy rain. The next bike I buy will be delivered!

Home in one piece.

Greyhound was not bad. Grand mix of common folk. Really pleasant drivers. Departure times I learned are *approximate*, but I value safety over time.

Ride back was uncomplicated. Light traffic and little construction.

Bonus - found to have race pipe & ECU and bar risers.

Good score.
