A little homophobic Sifo? I wouldn't have guessed. And you would be guessing wrong. The reason given is that a woman in a mans body is a medical issue that needs correction the same as any other deformities. I have a very liberal brother-in-law with a very liberal wife who tend to agree with that statement. Of course when dealing with the realities of having a 10 year old son and their neighbor who was going through the transition from male to female, and the obvious questions that arose from their son at the time, they chose to move. It seems liberal ideals are much harder to deal with when the become reality for your family. True story. The simple reality is that you can't actually change your sex. Any attempt at doing so is the mutilation of your body. Hey, it's your body, mutilate away! You just shouldn't expect others to pay for it. Now the very idea of such strict gender identities such as one gender being trapped in the body of the other... Now that really gets into gender bigotry. Carry on. | ||

Now, now, I say it takes a lot of courage for FF to go through the hell that is Gender surgery. I applaud him. While I know few people in that category, ( I did chat with a lady at work today about TV shows that I strongly suspect is Trans, but I'm too polite to ask ) I am Told that it's not a happy place to be. If you consider that most would have no objections to repairing a cleft palate, or club foot, someone desperately unhappy with their body for any reason deserves sympathy. I don't think the state of the art is close to a satisfactory solution to the problem, but we live in the world that is, not as we wish it would be. Absent magic wands, or sci-fi nanobot/transporter/blue goo vats, I sure wouldn't want to go through male to female surgery. ( I don't want to anyway, but if I could have the body of a 21 year old Milla Jovovich...... I might hop in the vat of Blue goo..... I'd rather have the body of a 21 year old Kevin Sorbo ) I hang with paramedics and docs every year when I do my volunteer first aid bit on vacation. What I am told of the procedures, quite graphically, would make some here react..... badly. ( EMT humor is a little rough ) Is this kind of thing normal? No. A tiny fraction of the population have these problems. I'm very skeptical that a 10 year old is mature enough, and can make an informed judgment on going through any of it, and once the hormone therapy begins, I feel that choice is taken away, in a sense, since the chemicals in your brain affect how you think, and how it gets wired. We'll see in the future how bad or good these cases turn out. I'm a bit pessimistic. Perhaps FF will be more ladylike after. Good luck. Goddess Bless. Patrick a 10 meter outdoor range is on my pool deck. The knife and hawk target are out in the yard a missed pellet though the screen no big deal. A knife or Hawk and its out with the screen tools ! Funny since I set up the hawk target the HOA weasels never bother use any more.  | ||
