Congratulations, Andy! Pwnzor should be chiming in soon as he survived the transition from Kalifornia to Georgia and he is still a kook. I am really happy for you.

Thanks Rein. I'm excited about the job! Moving to Atlanta well NE of Atlanta well on that i go back and forth. It will be hard to leave Chicago. But it will be nice to get the Buell running again. The car payment paid on time stuff like that. I havent ridden in a year. Managed to pay of the XB but no extra money means no riding for me. Hence my absence here

Oh, man....

We're going to be neighbors!

Gwinnett county schools are among the best in the state.

You will LOVE it here. Going to have to take you for some proper BBQ.

I can hook you up with a good realtor if needed.

Anything you think I can do to help, just say the word. If you need me to go put eyeballs on a property or whatever...

I went to school in Atlanta like forty years ago and even then, when you're in the city you could just as well be in any city up north. The only thing they didn't have was real pizza, but I bet even that's changed by now.
Hope the move goes smoothly and you find a great place to stay. I may join you when I retire in a few years. Love those home prices.

Nobody's mentioned that you'll be only ~50 miles from some of the best twisties in the U.S., and location of many previous Buell meets (Suches, GA). The mountains of north east Georgia is a great riding area.

I believe Glitch is South of Chattanooga area. We have definitely had some good riding in North Ga.

and God help me will being a Southerner make my Northern Blood boil!?!?!?

Nah.....just hang outside in the sunny afternoons from mid May to Mid September. That'll boil most anything.....an egg on your car hood, your skin, your blood, most anything holding liquid.

The easier transition would have been to move down in the fall, but circumstance probably checked that.

Avoid the following counties- dekalb, clayton, south fulton, rockdale, south gwinnett. there are others. you are pretty much limited to north gwinnett, cherokee, north cobb, or points even further north unless you like incredibly high rates of crime,. left atl 2 1/2 years ago, not the same town i grew up in, will never go back.

That's funny Kilroy, you live in California now?

Funny you should mention crime, it's practically nonexistent here compared to California or Illinois.

True, there are problem areas, mostly inside the perimeter. There isn't a state in the Union that doesn't have crime. Of course, if you move to a ghetto, it really doesn't matter what state you're in.

Pwnzor, this wasn't meant to be an attack against you. sorry if you took it personally. how long have you lived in atlanta? 2 or 3 years? i lived there from 1973 until 2012, with a few years off in other towns. I went to elem school, high school, and graduated college there. i have seen my beloved town turn into a cesspool, sorry if you cant accept it or don't see it yet. stay there long enough, or leave sugar hill occasionally, you will see it. its an 100 mile diameter circle shaped subdivision full of slapped together houses, with a few thousand strip shopping centers thrown in so you don't have to go far for your mexican restaurant, which is convenient because it is painfully difficult to go anywhere due to the crushing traffic. throw in about 5 murders, carjackings or home invasions daily just to keep it interesting. not to mention its landlocked, cold and rainy all winter and stiflingly(sp?) hot all summer. The rest of my family still lives there, i wish them, and you the best. Anybody contemplating moving to that hole just find a local news feed streaming on the internet and watch a few 6:00 broadcasts.

Ya'll are correct in one thing, some incredible riding just an hour or so north. ALMOST makes it worth it....

ALL major metropolitan areas have higher crime rates than rural areas.

I didn't move to Atlanta. I moved to Georgia.

I'm sorry Atlanta left such a bitter taste in your mouth, but it's only one city in a large state.

When I got sick of gang violence in Long Beach, I moved to Trabuco Canyon, and Mission Viejo after that.

When I reunited with my childhood sweet heart, I moved to Georgia.

That, and every other street is named Peach Tree. To get anywhere, you take Peach Tree Street to Peach Tree Blvd. Then turn left onto Peach Tree Lane and right on Peach Tree Ave until you come to Peach Tree Circle. Seemed that way to me anyhow.

We did a big warehouse about 14 years ago in McDonough and rented an apartment near Buckhead up on the 22nd floor for about 6 mos. Had a good time there and got to experience Freaknic (sp?) - no worse than I imagine Ft. Lauderdale is that time of year.

Traffic is rough, just like lots of places, but infractions that would have got you shot at in California were dismissed with a polite wave.

you DO live in atlanta

Nope. Sugar Hill, Georgia. Incorporated in 1939.

Unlike Atlanta, I can actually call Mayor Steve Edwards and speak directly with him or he will call me back in a timely manner.

We might be generally considered to be in the "metro Atlanta area", but we are certainly not in Atlanta.

I saw a small airplane the other day, that was pretty exciting.
