Ah; lighten up. It's different, but it's harmless.
Yesterday, I was reading about a 27 year old pregnant woman in Sudan who was going to be executed because she wouldn't recant her Christian faith. Then I read about an Indonesian woman who was gang raped by 8 men and was sentenced to caning, all because she allowed a man into her house who wasn't her husband.
Those are the things that I find disturbing.
A bunch of guys who are fans of a cartoon that promotes peace, love and friendship, while not my cup of tea, is pretty damned positive in comparison.

I used to watch the Gummi Bears cartoon religiously. In my 20's, not as a child. I found it entertaining, so... whatever.

Powerpuff Girls.

But the real inspiration for my life is The Roadrunner & Coyote.

WB's "Looney Tunes" cartoons really weren't aimed at kids (at first)...

A lot of that humor went right over my head until I got older.

I liked ren and stimpy myself, but only after a couple beers. Helps that I actually know the cartoonist too.

The best toons have that 2 level humor.

Who hasn't seen Bugs when they were, say, 17, and suddenly got a joke that you didn't have the background for at 7?

Ren &Stimpy ( the original ) was full of political & sexual humor. The reboot sucked because the new guys got "kids like gross" and missed the point of mocking authority.

Doz, that is pretty kool right there. Love that guys art. Would he do some work for you if you asked? The adult party episodes of ren & stimpy are pretty good too. He also did some adverts for a convenience store shake machine called f'real shakes. The machines have a display on them that loop little animated shorts that crack me up.

Rocky and Bullwinkle was another one that was pretty sophisticated. Kids loved it, but when they got older they loved it even MORE.

Mike13, I always wanted to ask but haven't had a justified occasion. Amazing work and not all his stuff looks the same, so he has many styles. Maybe someday but I'll never do anything like my little pony.
What's really funny is that if you ever met froggy, you would never think him a fan of that stuff.

Ummm... I guess you missed the stickers on his bike... probably while looking at the 92 different electronic gizmos on the handlebars and dash.

You guys were lame.

Transformers, GI Joe, He-Man (though seeing it as an adult is a different story), and the classic Loony Toons and Tom and Jerry were good. The later dumbed down stuff and especially the latest is terrible.

Japanese 'toons are a different animal. Not the kiddie orientation of US Saturday morning fare.

South Park and other adult 'toons are also a world away from He Man etc. Pretty sure hallucinogens are involved in some of the Adult Swim shows.

South Park is vulgar, disrespectful, sophomoric and even a bit disturbing. It is also the most timely, biting and best satire on television today. I love it.
