I have a Spurgin oil cooler on my Buell and wanted the same setup on the Fat Bob. Unfortunately, the Spurgin won't fit the newer Dyna down tubes. I also prefer the looks of the Buell mounting setup along the side frame rail. I have never seen an oil cooler mounted along the side of a Twin Cam so I made my own bracket. A different oil cooler option if you have a Twin Cam sharing space in the garage with your Buell.

Do you get much air flow in that location?

I would assume yes.
Might be partially/barely reduced due to the left leg, but its still more in the wind than the rear cylinder. Plus the extra length of the lines and cooler itself will aid in cooling with minimal airflow

ps - I say that based on some of my previous cars (MR2) which never have overheating issues unless something is severely wrong - with over 12' of radiator piping it takes stays cooler than most cars that I've messed with/been around

It will certainly stay a lot cooler than with no cooler regardless of the airflow. It may not be the ideal place, but it's not like it's hidden under the seat or something. Looks like a nice install assuming nothing is rubbing on the shifter link.

Thanks Sifo, the hoses all clear the linkage and there is actually nothing but the shifter arm in the path of the airflow. pretty much the same location as the Spurgin on my Buell except it is mounted to the primary rather than the frame tube. Hybrid, you are correct, the lines are longer than what comes with the cooler and I also thought this would likely improve cooling further.

I figured you had clearance on the install. You just can't tell from that pic. It looks close. Could easily be just the angle.

Keep in mind how many radiators are mounted behind a front tire. Not ideal, but it works. I don't think the shifter arm is going to hurt much. It's certainly going to be cooler than with no cooler, by a good margin. Everything is a compromise of something.

Cool setup, care to give some details? I'd like to do the same thing to my night train.

Doz, I started with the standard Spurgin Twin Cam oil cooler (also sold as a Bad Boy). I had to use longer lines, these are 14" Goodridge oil lines. I made the bracket from flat stock aluminum and two L brackets (these are cast and required me to use primary bolts that were a 1/4" longer). The biggest problem was just deciding where I was going to mount it, but I ended up with exactly what I wanted, air flows past it and I can still use the Dyna tool bag on the down tubes. It also clears everything, even though it looks like the lines are hitting the shift rod in the picture there is actually plenty of clearance.
