He's already challenged by Congress. Aren't we all? One of the things Obama & I agree on is our Contempt for Congress. The difference is dealing with those jerks isn't my paid job. I'm pretty sure every President since Washington had rude opinions on Congress. We will never hear most of them, but a few have come to light in the last 2 centuries. Would you be willing to protest a President who chose to ignore the Constitution, and the term limits law by deciding to stay..... "for the duration of the Emergency?" for example. No matter which bajillionare bribes him? ( or which Party he is? ) People were freaked out that George W Bush was going to make himself King with 9/11/01 as an excuse. Didn't happen. People were freaked out that Bill Clinton was going to make himself King, ( over a blue dress ) didn't happen. Obama isn't George or Bill, though. He has a very different background, was raised in a foreign country, then a preppy school in Hawaii. ( also a foreign country to most of us ) Barry never went to a 4th of July Parade in America as a boy. He never was taught how America really works, by living as an American, until he came to Hawaii to live with his Grandparents. At an age Long after you or I had formed an opinion of our country. He may indeed decide that for the good of the Collective he must stay on to fight the battle against the Oligarchs.... But I'm not panicking yet. If he decides that all weapons in the hands of Citizens must be confiscated.... that's another thing. Or declares a curfew and delays the election.... Until then I will worry about what war he starts next, and if Congress will steal ALL of my money. |

Hey Garryb, can you explain to me why the Koch "boys" are evil and George Soros is not? I'd be interested to hear your perspective. BTW, I don't think it'd be only the Koch's who wouldn't be happy if Obama decided to stay on. But then again I don't think that even Obama has that much disregard for the constitution (I'm pretty sure you meant it as a joke). |

the death of the dollar was on the wickets to watch. remember Violence in 2014 (domestic or international) causing Martial law on Domestic Soil (the BLM was a nice test for that meme) The Death of the Dollar (it is DEAD - they have its replacement read to print - was minted in 2006 in Britain ) The end of elections in 2016 ie postponed or subverted due to state of emergency These are the only outstanding wickets from the alarms that I have been ringing since 2007; and if you look closely - what was seen as paranoid chicken little then, is all too apparent and with in realm now. DAMHIK FIFTYS It will be an interesting two years ... watch Ukraine close - it is a primer of what will happen in the US. |

"I've been around a while. My close friends include a great guy struggling on public assistance trying to find work to a gal who bought her husband a $25M Falcon 50D last year for his birthday." Congratulations Curt. You've stumbled on the biggest issue of the day and don't even recognize it (not surprising). It's called income gap. And Obama can't even get a meager minimum wage bill passed because of your republican buddies. You're a fool if you identify with the top five percenters and are not among them. You're being used. |

The "Income Gap" is a funny argument. It has nothing to do with anything. Ignoring the fact that the bottom earners will always be $0, let's say the bottom is $20,000 per year. The top is pretty hard to peg. Let's call it a somewhat achievable $5,000,000 per year. The true top is far beyond that though, but let's go with a lesser amount. So we have a "gap" of $4,980,000. Now if you can somehow magically double the bottom to $40,000, what have you actually accomplished? You've moved the gap to $4,960,000, or a total of less than .5%! The "gap" is virtually unchanged by that. The gap is meaningless. The ONLY way to effectively reduce the gap is to limit the top. Take a good look at economic models that have done this. It never benefits the bottom end. Opportunity is the best thing for everybody. Opportunity to earn whatever you can make yourself worth. Opportunity is what allows you to move up from a bottom earner. Legislating that the new bottom moves up will simply knock more people off the bottom to the non-earning category. A small minority will benefit, but the masses will be worse off. This is so obvious it's almost humorous to see it seriously proposed. |

Gee Court, a few posts ago you were the evil rich exploiter of the masses, and now you are a tool of the evil rich. The themes of the useful idiots never change. ( not exactly true.... a few hundred years ago they burned witches. Usually young women that wouldn't sleep with them. ) here's a repost. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/377126/bengh azi-made-simple-jonah-goldberg Anyway, I wrote about this in the Corner five years ago when Obama said that nuclear weapons were the Cold War’s “most dangerous legacy.” I said nukes aren’t the most dangerous legacy, the half-life of Soviet lies are: Some might say the military-industrial complex or the national-security state. But not me. To me, the most obvious dangerous legacy of the Cold War would have to be the damage the Soviets did to the world. I don’t mean the millions they murdered; those dead do not threaten us now, even if they should haunt us. I mean the relentless distortion of the truth, the psychological violence they visited on the West and the World via their useful idiots and their agents. I’m thinking not merely of the intellectual corruption of the American Left (which even folks like Richard Rorty had to concede), but the corruption of reformers and their movements around the globe. Soviet propaganda still contaminates, while nuclear fallout does not. Lies about America, the West, and the nature of democratic capitalism live on throughout the third world and in radioactive pockets on American campuses. The Soviet effort to foster wars of national liberation, to poison the minds of the “Bandung Generation,” to deracinate cultures from their own indigenous building blocks of democracy, to destroy non-Marxist competitors interested in reform, to create evil and despotic regimes that are seen as “authentic” because they represent the “true will” of their subjugated and beaten down peoples: these seem to me to amount to the most dangerous legacy of the Cold War. Not least because it was those sorts of efforts that gave birth to North Korea in the first place. Rocket does not agree. I won't speculate on why. He makes his position clear on the Ukraine thread. |

Hey Fred, thanks for validating the argument that says when the leftys [liberal types] run out of facts, ideas, fabricated tales they resort to name calling a communist coined the term useful idiots. to read soviet propaganda you would think that the communist system could not be beat yet it finally collapsed under its own corrupt mess. We ( the left in particular ) seem to be trying to go to the same place the definition of insanity is repeating a failed behavior expecting a different result. I have to wonder about the latest crap being spewed by the WH and dem leadership that Benghazi is a "diversion", REALLY? from what? |

>>>Yup, so sayeth the rich. What a load of crapola.? 1) What do you consider rich? I'm very (I'm there a couple times a week) familiar with where you live and, of course, it's one of the wealthiest counties in the nation. 2) If that's what the rich say, tell me what you'd say . . . where are they off base? How would you close the gap? My guess is that each rich person might adopt a poor person . . . . say a NYC cop or teacher since they are among the lowest paid . . and share some of their income. What do we do with the taxes? One fellow I know made a lot of money last year and paid over $60,000,000 in federal income taxes. Should he make less? If so, where will we replace that tax revenue? Be mindful . . his tax is several times Westchester County annual budget. Since you are back . . . and I'ver written off your "I'm never coming back" silliness. . share some content and insight. |

You're a bus driver, right? Aesquire would call you a useful idiot. Yep, at the moment I'm driving a bus. I'll probably do this until I finally retire completely. By our plan, that would be in about a year and a half. Then again, my wife was looking at a retirement property that she said we might want to check out if it's not sold by the end of the school year. It's got a lot of things going for it, and it is tempting. It could be the perfect time to skip out on Illinois too. Bottom line, I didn't get here driving the bus. I worked hard and followed opportunity many times along the way. That has allowed me to slack off now that I'm old and in my 50's. I could have done more profitable things, but frankly, I'm just not so greedy to be starting on a new venture that would take a lot of time and energy when I don't plan on staying with it for the long run. I do have an idea for a cottage industry business that I may take on in my spare time when I finally cut the cord though. The biggest thing holding me back at the moment is uncertainty of this administration. Of course, that's largely what this entire thread is about. Aesquire may just call me a useful idiot someday. I'll ask him to defend his position. It should be an interesting conversation. You should try it sometime. So am I rich? Not by my standards, at least not financially. By just about any measure, I am pretty wealthy though. I don't think I'll ever see eight figures though. I'm just not greedy enough to bother. Not that there's anything wrong with that. |

Why do you hate your self so much? Stop projecting your issues on the rest of the world. You do not offend us we just feel sorry for you. If 1 guy, a one-percenter, had a taxable income of $1m while 99 others had $20K, the govt would collect $343,646 in taxes on that first person and a total of $208,692 from the other 99 ($2108 each)for a total of $552,338. If Obama were to somehow magically level the playing field so that all 100 of them made $29,800 they would collect only $357,800 in taxes for a difference of $194,528 (roughly 35% less). Now this is just a hypothetical 100 people. Multiply this by millions and we're talking huge sums of money in reduced revenue to the feds. On the extreme end of things, if the one-percenter could make all $2,980,000 while the others made nothing, he would owe $1,127,726, which the govt could then evenly distribute amongst the other 99 - almost $11,400 ea in the form of food stamps and birth control pills - guaranteeing their re-election in perpetuity whilst vilifying the one working stiff who pays for the whole thing. Which scenario do think the dems prefer, regardless of what they say publicly? Do you really think they want fewer people paying 39.6% and more paying just 15%? Who does Obama golf with on Martha's Vineyard - millionaires or those 99%-ers? Note: these numbers were calculated using TurboTax's tables for married, filing jointly and are used for demonstration purposes only. The exact amounts may vary slightly but the outcome will be similar. In all likelyhood, those making $20K a year are paying far less. When you add in state and local taxes, those in the top tier are paying 50% or more. |

I would rather have the open sky of expanding 'inequity' of personal opportunity than the chains of Liberal social 'equality' case in point. IF I were a liberal ethnic female - I would have had my college paid for by nothing other than may skin color and gender; as there are scholarships, internships, grants, and stipends just for being a particular gender or race to get a education, a house, a loan, food assistance, low rent housing, phone, cable, income, and of course had I had an illegitimate baby - caching - more so. want to know who there is never an entitlement for ? White, Middle Aged, Male, Single, Non Criminal. go down the alphabet of agencies - point to ONE that has any bailout or pay out for that sector. Hell you are a racist to suggest that there ever could be one, or to point to all the others that are set up for the 'disparate' classes. So you will excuse the F*ck out of me - if I get upset that somebody is ripping me off from the work, and opportunities that I make, create, do for myself to feed the lib-tard commie architecture. Your Entitlement mindset; and the belief that you could only advance at the price of others is exactly why I left the US - and largely why I have no intentions of coming back. There is no help for me in America - why should there ever be any for you - especially out of my pocket. Take your 'society' and kindly SHOVE IT. I want no part of it. For those of you that think distributed money collected by the gov't ever goes to where it is 'needed' take a look at Haiti and the Phillipines after their storm damage..... Just another set of cases where liberals know so much of what isn't true. |

Yesterday I ground a stump for a man that was born an American citizen in China. His grandfather immigrated here and brought the family over member by member. Michael owns a restaurant in town and has seen and experienced China's communism. His strange comment was that China is no longer a communist country but one of very very rich and very very poor with virtually no middle class. He said America is now more of a communist country with Obama care and what we give to the poor(he rolled his eyes when saying this) His comments were sounding like he was disappointed with what is going on in his country (America) |
