More a culture issue than politics.

Should we start a "Things weren't like this in my day" or "Class envy, the New Anxiety" ( a perfect Time Magazine Cover Title ) or perhaps just "Society is going to Heck" threads?

Or is the above a given?

I find it interesting that nearly a Century of effort has taken place so that people don't automatically jump to the conclusion that a failed religion posing as an economic system is not something to be ashamed of.

Back when I was just a child, ( long long ago ) It was pretty much a given that the same philosophy that murdered hundreds of millions of people was not a winner in American politics.

Not any More.

Some would say I should be pleased at the new wave of honesty. Others would complain that the younger generations are ignorant of anything important.

I'll just try and remember that when Socialism reaches it's full flower, most of the ones complaining will be dead, and the best way to get ahead is to Inform on your neighbor.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2014/10/09/wor ds-matter-isis-war-use-daesh/V85GYEuasEEJgrUun0dMU P/story.html

The term “Daesh” is strategically a better choice because it is still accurate in that it spells out the acronym of the group’s full Arabic name, al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham. Yet, at the same time, “Daesh” can also be understood as a play on words — and an insult. Depending on how it is conjugated in Arabic, it can mean anything from “to trample down and crush” to “a bigot who imposes his view on others.” Already, the group has reportedly threatened to cut out the tongues of anyone who uses the term.

Why do they care so much? The same reason the United States should. Language matters.

With some 30,000 to 50,000 fighters, Daesh is a relatively small group, and propaganda is central to its growth strategy. Whether hijacking popular Twitter hashtags or using little known distribution channels to post videos to YouTube, their leadership knows that the war of words online is just as key to increasing its power and influence as the actual gruesome acts they commit on the ground.

By using the militants’ preferred names, the US government implicitly gives them legitimacy. But referring to the group as Daesh doesn’t just withhold validity. It also might help the United States craft better policy.

Compiling all the current wars in the Ukraine thread seems incoherent. I'm wondering what to call the thread for the Current War in the Mid East, Mediterranean, and Africa, spanning several countries, with aggressors known by various alphabet soup and other names.

The Obama Wars?..... not exactly fair. Sure, he has ownership, but it's bigger, with good old cold war proxy war, plus the Jihad against the West. The Carter Wars is just as accurate. And just as narrow.

The Caliphate War?.......both gives too much credit to a small but vicious part, and ignores the Chinese and Russian influence.

Daesh, while currently a little known word, has the so accurate meaning.... “to trample down and crush” to “a bigot who imposes his view on others.”

So yesterday I was picking up students at the grade school to take the home in the afternoon. One of the kids, who happens to be Mexican, comes up to me and asks "Did you know that one of the candidates for President wants to kick all the Mexicans out of the country?" I was pretty floored by that, and just assured him that just isn't true. He said yes it is, my teacher told me so. I told him his teacher told him wrong. At that point I got a crowd of voices saying that all the teachers were telling them that today. That really floored me. So I told him that they are referring to Donald Trump and that Trump wants to kick people out of the country that are here illegally. Suddenly his face lights up and he says, "Oh, that makes sense" Even a 4th grader can understand that.

Here's the thing that really gets me about all of this. It goes beyond just brain washing kids in the classroom. This kid was genuinely freaked out that a Presidential candidate would want to kick him out of his country because he was Mexican. To make matters worse, this turns out to be a conspiracy among the teachers of that school to spread this lie to grade school kids, no doubt hoping the lie will spread to poorly informed parents. These are the people that are entrusted with helping to shape these young kids for the future, and they are being manipulated with lies for the purpose of political gain. I am really disgusted by this revelation.

So what, if anything should I do? As a bus driver at a private company, the district can have me removed from their district at any time. Rocking the boat with the wrong people could cause me problems with work. I have no idea how wide spread this little conspiracy really is, but clearly a number of teachers are involved. I don't know if school or district administration is involved or not. I also have no idea if they would be bothered by such a thing. The response of the kids was far too spontaneous to have been a prank they were pulling on me, and the subject matter just isn't a grade school prank. I'm really struggling with whether I should contact the district or not. Not being a parent of a student there may have them wanting to ignore me too, but this crap is just sick and wrong. Thoughts?

Sifo anonymous tips to the news is pretty much your only option. When you call the NPR number be sure to ask how they'd feel ( they are ALL about feelings ) if the teachers were all ordered to push anti Hillary propaganda? Then use that answer in your next call.

Borrow a phone or email from the library. Seriously.

This political movement invented the term unperson.

Planetary immigration crisis.

Although Russia seems not to have a problem.... with people coming in. They do have a serious problem with having enough Russians. ( low birth rate ) which explains the invasion of Ukraine, where the Soviets settled a lot of Russians as part of their internal racism program. ) aka genocide, aka we will displace you )

For Context.... Student Segregationists are demanding the Woodrow Wilson School have his name stripped off.

Why? Because he was a racist. That's true.

He was a racist, a believer in eugenics, in the superiority of his race, and a Progressive.

Are all Progressives racist? Not all... probably.

Are all KKK members racist? ?

The Ideology.... the Religion, of Progressivism has always been racist, dating to it's roots in Marx's absinthe fueled rants against the "Establishment".

the Progressive leaders have always been racist. Many of their policies have been overtly racist, and many more are subversively racist. ( keep them on the plantation ring a bell? )

And, in an irony so great that reality itself cannot contain it, the Segregationist Students are Overtly racist, as they demand the name of a racist President be removed from books and buildings.

It'd be funny if it wasn't so evil.

I still haven’t decided what I think about the tumult at Princeton. I’m against caving into the mob. I’m also against airbrushing history. But I also really hate Woodrow Wilson. I’ll keep pondering.

And now for a CNN rant...

I spent the Thanksgiving holiday at my in-law's place in AR. I'm pretty isolated from what's going on in the rest of the world when I'm down there. I think it was on Wednesday evening my wife made a comment about wondering if the "protesters" were burning down Chicago or not. So her mom says she will turn on the "news" to find out. She flips to CNN and they are just starting a one hour news special. I think it was called "Long Road to Hell". Basically, it was a rehash of all the mistakes of the Iraq war under GWB. Seems like a worth while topic for the current election season, right? Typical left wing GWB hack job. Very selective on their facts, with huge holes in the story. Basically telling you Republicans are bad. You would really get the idea that no Democrats were involved at all, kind of like how BOcare was done, only in reverse. No big surprises for the first half hour, but definitely not a good writing of history.

In the second half hour they got into the rise of ISIS. Here I "learned" some new things. ISIS came out of Iraq. Syria wasn't even mentioned. Neither was BO. In fact it seems that time simply stopped in the middle east for the past seven years. It was quite a revelation to me that the past 3/4 of a decade had nothing at all to do with shaping the current situation in the middle east. To be perfectly fair, my wife changed the channel 3/4 of the way through the show, but some how they were continuing to blame GWB and Republicans for the current problems of the world. I especially got a chuckle about how Republicans were attempting to block refugees from IRAQ, fear mongering that there may be ISIS members included. Seriously? Iraq? They should be embarrassed to air such garbage.

Anyone else have the misfortune of seeing this CNN special? I was actually shocked at how ridiculous it really was. A week ago I would have thought I had pretty much seen rock bottom in news misinformation, but they actually manged to move the bar to a new low IMO.
